TheDoyler23
Mr. Akin, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Predicto
interesting. Apparently, quite a few hours after our friend Akin made his comment and the whole thing blew up on the internet, the following websites covered the story thusly... CNN: A Top Story MSNBC: A Top Story Fox News: Not even mentioned. Not at all. Instead, these important breaking news items were listed: Man in Afghan police uniform kills NATO member Suicide bomber kills 7 Russian cops at funeral Assange calls on US to drop WikiLeaks 'witch hunt' NJ girl accused of setting fire in attempt to kill family Sudan government aircraft crash kills all 32 on board - Philippine Interior Secretary Robredo's plane crashes Alabama man battles to keep wife buried in front yard Miners face firings amid deadly union violence Pa. mom vows to keep giving lunches to needy kids Second flight makes emergency landing in NJ - 1 dead after small plane crashes on Long Island Pee Wee coach fired for supporting 'ineligible' player 9-month-old's MLB outings are 'perfect' experience Fan suing Dallas Cowboys over 'burned buttocks' 'Old Ironsides' sails again to commemorate battle Nyad faces jellyfish on Cuba-Florida swim attempt Hurricane Gordon speeds across Atlantic Ocean Texas teacher sentenced after having sex with students I guess Fox hadn't yet received their marching orders on how to handle this awkward situation. Of course, now that the GOP has thrown Akin under the bus, they are covering the story. ---------- Post added August-21st-2012 at 01:25 AM ---------- Oh, and I realize this is kind of piling on at this point, but Akin's prior public statements include the following: The student loan program is a "stage-three cancer of socialism." Liberalism comes from "a hatred of God." The Bible should be the "blueprint" for American government. Obama should be impeached as "a complete menace to our civilization." Of course, those moderate opinions are what got him the GOP nomination, and had him eleven points up in the polls over McCaskill.

Of course it just proves the lamestream media's conspiracy to misinform us. Amazingly, Akin still has a shot in MO. It will be interesting to see what happens if he sticks it out. I do not think the Republican party want to lose that seat, so I believe that money comes back if he weathers this. http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/08/ppp-missouri-race-still-tied-132646.html

AsburySkinsFan
How is Huckleberry legitimising rape there? In defending a Republican Huckabee is stuck trying to point out that some great people are the products of the brutal violation of a woman through rape, in so doing he is downplaying the emotional scaring in order to make this gaffe not seem so bad. Great people come out of brutally abusive families, but that doesn't mean we have to downplay the abuser just because a Republican said something incredibly moronic. Oh no! He said that a woman's body shuts down the reproductive process in the cases of "legitimate" rape. "Using words in the wrong way" more like the idiot was defending his absolute opposition to abortion and lied about the female biology. But, voters will forgive him because it is politics before truth.
Corcaigh
Y'all are being too hard on him. He's an ignorant clown who just invents reality to suit his agenda. But he's not as bad as Bill Frist who made inacurate statements about HIV in order to back up abstinence only sex ed programs. In spite of being a doctor, Frist insisted that HIV could be transmitted through sweat and tears, and lied about the failure rate of condoms. He should have been prosecuted for medical ethics violations.

A critical difference is we do not kill people for coming out of brutally abusive families I don't see where he downplayed rape as to the other...stress certainly effects conception rates IF that is what the dumbass was trying to say....which really doesn't matter in the larger picture and was stupid to even bring up in that context ---------- Post added August-21st-2012 at 07:38 AM ---------- Y'all are being too hard on him. Unforgiven
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/08/20/first-on-cnn-gop-prepares-tough-anti-abortion-platform/ "The Republican Party is once again set to enshrine into its official platform support for "a human life amendment" to the Constitution that would outlaw abortion without making explicit exemptions for rape or incest, according to draft language of the platform obtained exclusively by CNN late Monday." ... An exemption for rape, though, is not included in the platform set to be adopted by the party Romney will officially lead when he accepts the Republican nomination next week." AsburySkinsFan
A critical difference is we do not kill people for coming out of brutally abusive familiesI don't see where he downplayed rape Of course you don't, you'd rather a woman carry to full term the child of her rapist as a constant reminder of the violent abuse she endured. as to the other...stress certainly effects conception rates IF that is what the dumbass was trying to say....which really doesn't matter in the larger picture and was stupid to even bring up in that context Stress may play SMALL part, but there is no science that says that the stress of rape prevents pregnancy, the guy was talking out of his arse in trying to defend his staunch opposition to abortion in even the most extreme situations.
