I guess if the argument on who is the better or worse leader between Gregory or Rick I think it is abundantly clear Rick needs a long overdue demotion. He would best serve as just a foot soldier (Nothing wrong with that but he is just not up to leading - never has been). As for Carol does she really need the Kingdom? She could probably waltz in to Negan's stronghold and kill everyone by herself. She is without a doubt the deadliest person on the show. They really developed her character well who would have thought that would have happened after watching season 1. (Second to Tye - who I identified with a bit, definitely my favorite character). abdcskins
I'm finally caught up so I can actually read this thread. I hope by the end of this show they actually explain how this zombie apocalypse/sickness started. That's all I really want to know. They haven't even begun to explore it, only time they came close is season 2 when they stumbled upon that scientist dude who was living alone in that center. Also, season 7 has mostly been boring. Only thing I don't understand 100% are the lettered sweaters that Darrell and the other prisoners of Neegan wear. They lead walkers around that chained linked fenced enclosure and...I dunno not really a big deal I'm just wondering the purpose. Also, seems like everyone in this thread loves Carol but I hate her. I don't understand why she freaks the **** out all the time and goes MIA.
dfitzo53
Pretty sure they've said a couple times they don't plan to get into the actual origin of the disease. Honestly, to me it's not that important. It's all unscientific nonsense anyway, so it's a little easier to maintain that suspension of disbelief if they don't try too hard to explain something that's clearly impossible. I could see a few flashback episodes being interesting where they show what things were like in the first few days in Washington/London/Tokyo, etc. In other words, I don't care how the disease actually started, but I could understand the appeal of seeing how the central government utterly broke down and whether there's any resource-rich group holed up somewhere actively looking for a cure, etc. Pretty much a throwaway episode. I imagine Oceanside will become relevant at some point, but the whole scenario felt contrived.
Warhead36
What a snoozefest of an episode. There are just too many characters now. I mean when TARA gets an entire episode we have a problem.

Gamebreaker
You need to have episode like this. Because if you don't, people would complain about what happened to Tara and Heath. Those stupid writers forgot all about them. Here, you have one episode explaining it and the Oceanside community is laid down as backstory for potential storylines in next season. Sydney Park, who plays Cyndie is pretty hot. Hope she's brought back whenever that storyline is picked back up. Only two episodes left until the mid-season break. I think the last one is going to end on a cliffhanger going into next year.

I'm not against slow episodes. The Daryl and Beth episode is one of my all-time favorites. I don't think the general premise of the episode made much sense. *We've seen walkers rip people to shreds when they get on top of them. Walkers shoving Tara over the railing instead of biting her just strained belief. She should already have been dead at that point. I get that the "real" threat now is supposed to be other humans, but if survivors can be recklessly stupid around zombies without dying the show has lost something. Then when there is the occasional death-by-walker it feels arbitrary and unfitting of a main character. (Side note...why was she on a long mission without a knife or club? All she had was her pistol. Side note 2...how come Tara and Heath's guns weren't included in the inventory of Alexandria's armory?) *She's outnumbered and outgunned, but still gets away for a short time. Then, while she's tussling with bachelorette #1, bachelorette #2 is nowhere to be found. Maybe Cyndie took her out? Hard to say. Either way, somehow Cyndie gets away as well, but then they're found a short time later at the bridge, so whatever she did to the escorts wasn't much. *In the final run across the bridge she is holding a spear but repeatedly engages the walkers with her hands. She also heads right into the middle of the horde with apparently no plan, just asking to be swarmed. Illogical for someone who is supposed to be an experienced fighter at this point. *Where did they get all this newspaper for wrapping their fish? *Negan killed every able-bodied man but didn't take their guns? Yes, I just made a bulleted list. The whole episode was just poorly executed at the critical points and didn't do anybody justice. That's what I meant by throwaway. Gamebreaker
Gotcha. And I agree, definitely about the guns. Although that could be explained away, when you introduce the scenario and don't explain it then it leaves a lot of unanswered questions.
abdcskins
It's a super unrealistic show (referring to dfitzo's post) with fairly bad acting/writing at points. I hate the long drawn out monologues from certain actors about survival, determination, strength, etc. There have been numerous episodes where 50% of the show was just that. I'm thinking right now about Glenn lecturing that one young girl (the friend of Carl's) for like the entire episode. Boring. Obviously I like the show, that's why I have stuck it out this long, but it would get more of a B/B- letter grade from me. Also, I don't see the show ending with any type of closure or solution to the problem. Maybe I'm wrong and will be surprised.
Dont Taze Me Bro
At this point, the walkers are so rotted down, I'm not sure how they even have brains. But, I think last night showed that some are not as big a threat as they used to be. The ones covered in sand were rotted and hollowed out, like bones/jaw/etc. with holes. Eventually, they are going to move slower and slower as the muscles and tissue starts to deteriorate like it has. I think they are really only dangerous in big waves now. Which is why when Tara started to get 4-5 on her, she got pushed back and fell. They just simply couldn't bite her anymore at this point and were weakened by years of decay. But I am growing tired of how they separate the group and have 5 different episodes showing what each is doing. Slow episodes to build up to a bigger one is fine. But all they are doing is dragging this out as much as they can, and it becomes just as boring as it is necessary. Look at what is going on right now: 1. Rick/Carl - Negan breaking them down 2. Carol/Morgan - Kingdom 3. Daryl - imprisonment/breaking 4. Alexandria - Rick/Carl go back but showing the rest of the crew and that episode was focused on Spencer/Rosita/Michone 5. Maggie/Sasha - Hilltop 6. Tara - Oceanside They could have easily shown some clips spread out across the shows or even split two episodes between 3-4 of the individual ones. Like Hilltop and Oceanside. And Kingdom and Alexandria (since it was 1 1/2 hours).
Enforcer_FFX
Thought last night's episode had its moments. -Negan is entertaining. Will be interesting to see how he handles Carl. He seems to enjoy his interactions with him. -Michonne looks like she is on a suicide mission. Maaaaaaaybe get close enough to kill Negan. But, what next? -Rosita also look like she is just reacting and not thinking things through. -Who is helping Daryl? OR is that a test set up by Negan? -Where did Jesus dude disappear to? -Where did Priest dude disappear to?
Riggo#44
Gabriel made last night's episode: "It doesn't make you a sinner, it makes you a little ****!" Negan is just tense on screen, I was squirming when he was holding Judith at the end of the episode. He is a fantastic villian.
Popeman38
Negan is flawed. His cracks are getting wider. He is breaking his own rules, and everyone knows it. He also keeps pissing his own people off. Negan will be brought down from within and from the outside. Dwight's what, wife? is helping Daryl. Gamebreaker
I think the note to Daryl was from Fake Jesus. He disappeared from the top of the truck that Carl and Negan were in before they left the compound.
