    The Bruce Allen/GM Thread

I can already see this happening: either Callahan or O'Connell will end up being this team's HC next year. As no real viable candidate will take this job seriously, and they'll be left with no one to hire but coaches already employed here, who don't have any chance to be HC elsewhere because they're either too green (O'Connell) or already flamed out (Callahan).

Some More Cops Who Need to Be Fired

It's said he was shot in the back and thigh. He was likely running away from the killer(s) when this happened. I can see why this happened in multiple ways. - Police angry at Brown for testifying took him out. I kinda find it unlikely considering he basically confirmed her testimony. - Local residents pissed that Guyger only got ten years take it out on Brown. Maybe they felt if his testimony showed she meant to kill Jean before arriving at the apt she would've got more years. - Or maybe Brown being a major witness on a high profile case provided people who had unrelated beef with him to know exactly where he lived and were able to capitalize on that. Either way, I'm pretty safe in feeling like Guyger is directly responsible for one death, and indirectly responsible for another.

Some More Cops Who Need to Be Fired

Based on her history prior to this incident, I think what people saw as "remorse" in the courtroom from Guyger was more like," I really don't want to go to jail when I didn't mean to do this". She would've felt justified in her actions if it really was her apartment, and Jean was just some weirdo who broke in and decided to eat her ice cream. In that fantasy scenario, her actions were still ridiculous considering he never proved to be a threat. Someone like this should've never been allowed to be an officer. I have zero remorse for officers who carelessly take lives and then have to go to jail with people who may target them. Should've cared about YOUR potential consequences the way us regular citizens do if we're in a situation like she was. Our response would not be to grab a gun one second after seeing someone in "our" apartment and fire two shots. She literally zeroed in on black guy instead "this isn't my furniture" or "my apartment doesn't look like this". There is so much wrong with her reaction that it deserves it's own discussion. Someone earlier proposed this case does not belong in this thread. I wholeheartedly disagree, it belongs here because the same ridiculous notion that she was above the law, that permeates throughout every police department in this country, as well as minorities being not as valued as other citizens, contributed greatly to her shooting a man dead without processing the numerous signs that would've given someone not indoctrinated in that BS pause.
  5. I said the next time another white man terrorized a person of color I was making this thread. If I am anything, it's a man of my word. http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/crime/fbi-aids-in-investigation-into-shooting-of-sikh-man-in-kent/ "The FBI is helping the Kent Police Department investigate the shooting of a Sikh man who claims his assailant told him to “go back to your own country.” I guess we can start putting all the "white men terrorist attacks against American citizens" stories here, by the way things have been going it should be several pages soon.

Some More Cops Who Need to Be Fired

I have no problem with Jean's brother publicly forgiving her, and giving her a hug. As a Christian, it's what he's expected to do. And as a Christian, I'm reminded of how I sometimes fall short in the compassion department. Because I feel like I couldn't do it. Family can grieve in any way they see fit, and nobody should be criticizing that. Now this judge I have a different opinion. What she did was unprofessional. Does she hug every convicted murderer in her court? We all know the answer to that. How this case ended showed a startlingly amount of grace for a woman who laughed about MLK's assassination, and made disparaging remarks about her own fellow black officers. I really hope the performance she put on in that courtroom was genuine, but....I doubt it.

Some More Cops Who Need to Be Fired

I just watched one of the witness testimonies on YouTube. He says, after having to confirm his criminal history, that he heard her on the phone say she made a mistake and went into the wrong apt 2 minutes after he heard the gunshots. It doesn't appear she knew he was there, so maybe she is being truthful about how it occurred. It still doesn't change the fact people have to be accountable for their actions, and her reaction to a black man "in her apartment" was to shoot him twice without any hesitation.

I heard she did a lot of crying on the stand, don't doubt for a second her showing up looking like she hadn't slept in six years and crying her eyes out wasn't schemed by the defense to garner sympathy. She gets none from me. She killed a man, I hope she rots in prison.

Some More Cops Who Need to Be Fired

Nah, I don't think she's telling the truth at all. I know this all speculation, but I think she knew who he was, she got angry for some reason, went to his apt and killed him. Immediately afterwards, she realized she'd ****ed up and this lame defense is all she could think of considering she was in his apt.

Good. I haven't followed this case, but I'm fairly certain the intended to kill him and knew exactly where she was.

I'll raise. Nothing matters as long as Dan Snyder is the owner of this team. It starts at the top.

    Xbox One Vs Ps4

I enjoyed the war table stuff, and all of the side missions. But I'm a big Dragon Age fan and really enjoy that game's stories and lore. Also, the Trespasser DLC is one of the best expansions Bioware has ever made.

Unfortunately, Bethesda has gone on record by saying they wanted to keep their current game engine because the modding toolkit is well-known by the modding community. Which is a copout and not a good enough reason if you ask me. They said they wanted to modify the engine to modernize the visuals, but the worst part of the engine is the logic part, the coding. Which is why all their games always release buggy as hell. Why keep the worst aspects of your engine? I expect Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield to probably be impressive visually(likely still have ugly character models tho), and remain a buggy mess at launch.

The Official "Marvel" Thread (Movies,Comics etc)

Does anyone think the Netflix Marvel shows will eventually resurface on Disney+ after their initial MCU shows are released? It seems they wanted to rap up the side plots left unfinished after Endgame, but aren't going to be important enough to put into Phase 4.

The Official "Marvel" Thread (Movies,Comics etc)

While I see what you mean, there is a huge section of Spider-Man comics where Peter uses his own technology to improve his tech. And Stark did give him an Iron Spider suit around the time of the Civil War in the comics, so all of that stuff is rooted in comic lore just as much as Spider-Man being a solo act was. There is this overarching "can I be a real hero?" story arc for the third season that really works, especially considering the differing opinions of the characters on what a hero actually is. But I think some of the final episode undoes some of what they developed, especially the last shot, but I get they wanted to keep it open ended considering the character has a chance to return on Disney+.

The Official "Marvel" Thread (Movies,Comics etc)

Jessica and Trish are sisters on the show, that's why they put up with each other. I finished the the third season, it was actually better than the second season, but not by much. I think I can see why the actress who portrays JJ wasn't going to continue even if Netflix was still doing Marvel shows. The writers remind me of the writers for Supergirl, they don't have any clue how to write for the main character, and without being able to use strong storylines from the comics to use(for both characters, not being able to cast the right supporting characters prevents the better storylines from being used), they elevate the supporting characters that no one gives a crap about.

I thought Chris Evans was good in a movie called Sunshine. Space flick. But yeah, he's pretty mediocre with not much range. Cap seems pretty easy to portray.

"When They See Us" Miniseries on Netflix about Central Park 5

Where does this statistic come from? Does it take into account the number of cases that don't go to trial? Is it taking into account the number of times that a prosecutor overcharges the suspect to apply pressure on them to take a plea deal, despite the suspect may not be actually guilty? Or that some people plead guilty so that they don't sit in jail waiting for trial?

That combat looked perfect. I mean, it's the perfect blend of the original game's system in a more modern game's setting. I can't wait to play it next year.

Yeah, I really enjoyed GRIS. And I'm usually not into platformers like that. Stadia is gonna bomb. They no exclusive content for their service. Without exclusive games, there really isn't any reason to go to Stadia. Plus I think a lot of people are leery of Google's commitment when they enter new markets.
