It would be quite the troll ending that Jon Snow lives through everything, only to die busting a nut in his aunt in order to "pay" for life with his death death.

So there's like a 90% chance GRRM does it (and/or forces producers to do it).

It would be an epic way to end a series. Just basically a 20 min soft core scene.

Loved the conversation between Tormund and the Hound, and I like how they showed the Hound paralyzed by the flaming bear.  Nice 'redemption' in going back for Tormund (would have been bummed if he'd died before seeing Brienne again).  Wonder if Tormund will join Jon at the mtg and run into Brienne (I'm guessing so).  Hound and Tormund have become two of my favorite characters.

The pacing is all weird this season, but they're covering a lot of ground I suppose.

The show has drifted incredibly far away from its porny roots at this point.

I feel like if they couldn't pull the trigger on killing anyone important last week, they aren't going to do it now.

At this point, I feel like everyone of prominence is a pretty good bet to make it to the last two episodes. (In HBO world, the next to last episode is always a blood bath).

I am starting to judge myself for spending too much time thinking about this show.  I was actually looking through old episodes for scenes north of the wall showing large chains like the night king had for the dragon.  What is wrong with me?  I’m not bothered by the chains, but I was interested because many people seem to be.  By the way, I did not see any chains at Hardhome, though it looked like a place that may have them.  I was watching on a small tablet, so I may have missed them.  Also when the wildlings attacked the wall, the giants tied huge ropes to the wall gates and tried to pull them down.  I thought I remembered the giants having huge chains at some point, but I didn’t see them in that battle. The nights watch had some huge chains on top of the wall, but I didn’t see any north of the wall so far.

I saw that next week’s episode is titled “The Dragon and the Wolf”.

I was looking over some old episodes last night and there were a few episode titles that have that same format (i.e.  The_____ and the _____).  So, I looked at those episode descriptions to see if I could find a pattern that might shed light on events that may occur in the upcoming episode.

  • Season one “The Wolf and the Lion” – Jamie Lannister and his men kill the captain of guards for Ned Stark, and leave Ned passed out in the street bleeding from a spear wound to his leg.
  • Season four – “The Lion and the Rose” – Lady Oleanna (i.e. the Rose) kills Joffrey with poison, though it isn’t clear until later episodes that she was the killer.
  • Season four – “The Mountain and the Viper” – The Mountain gives the Viper a splitting headache, and the Viper dies (well, they both kind of die).

There was also an episode in season three called “The bear and the maiden fair” where Brienne has to fight a bear in a pit.  I don’t remember if the bear lives or not.

So, if the pattern holds, something bad is going to happen to a Stark or Targaryen.  Any thoughts?

I don't think either of them will die but it is an interesting theory. The difference between this episode and the ones you listed were the X and Y were adversaries, but in this one the X and Y are allies.

I'm curious to see how Cersei plans this. Say what you will about her, but she is one cunning broad. There's gotta be some kind of ambush or something set up.

I wouldn't expect Dany or Jon to die.  But there are a few other Starks.  I think Bran is safe for sure.  Sansa and Arya would be possibilities, but I can't see that happening at the hands of a Targaryen.  I'm sure they are safe, because we don't know of any "dragons" that would be in the north to attack Winterfell... Or do we?

So how many people die this week?

We should start a death-pool or something.

Im putting my money on LF and Cersei.

With a .001% chance that LF is actually Jaqen and he kills Arya.

1) Littlefinger

2) Tyrion

3) Hound

This is an odd number season, they always end tragically for the people we like.

I'm starting to wonder if psycho Arya might actually be Jaqen, who's seeking revenge for her "apostasy." Maybe actual Arya is still on the way to Winterfell while he tries to undo her identity.

Small chance, and I'm probably spacing on something that makes this impossible.
