Game Day Thread - The Commanders @ The Patriots

Dean tried to explain the call by noting the NFL wants the QB tackles to.br made " off to the side" and that's what they're telling the crews.

No straight full body to body, hit the side. A bs idea imo. That was a football tackle.

The NFL needs to address how negatively the fans are finding officiating these days, from incompetence of refs  to just them trying to do the ridiculous at the leagues orders even though the goal is to protect the player.

Yes. By rule this is NOT the proper call. The call is when landing full body weight on the passer. He did not. He actually braced himself with his elbows to avoid that.

Absolutely great play by KJ there. Well done, rook.

Also, it’s easy to be hard on Forbes there but great position. He can still turn the corner. He’s in the right positions.

He was drafted to catch those specifically

What's the rule that was violated? I have no clue what could have possibly warranted a flag there.

They explained it right on the broadcast (while acknowledging it’s dumb). They want defenders to twist themselves as they’re falling to land by the wayside rather than with weight on the QB. It’s stupid and usually unrealistic obviously. That sack wasn’t even a hard hit, it’s practically gentle. But it technically violates the rule (they don’t always call it)

Forbes ****ing sucks. Can’t do the ONE thing he was drafted to do.

He and Jamin won't be on the team in three years or less.  Jamin for all his supposed development still plays like a 3rd or 4th rounder.  Forbes is all but a lost cause.  A "never was".  Unreal.

Forbes has to hold on to that. That’s literally what he was drafted for.

I thought Terry should have caught the one for TD. But some said the contact stopped the catch. That's Terry's job when the ball hits him in the hands. Same thing happens to Forbes he should have caught it but he was being mugged.

But he didn't land on him!

Question for those who think that play means Howell can’t be the guy…

Do you watch other games? Have you seen some of the passes Josh Allen throws? Or Mahomes? Or Rodgers?

But NFL QBs do this.

Those three make up their boneheadedness with special. Without the special, with plays like that ,Howell maxes out at Romo, Rivers, KC, Dak etc..
