TradeTheBeal!
It’s not Cheeseman’s fault that Hopkins has been shaky for 3 seasons. And it’s not his fault that Blewitt shouldn’t be in the league. This one is on Ron. Gotta fix it starting Monday. 7

You'd love them to be as hot as Scarlett Johansson, do sex like a pornstar, raise your kids like your mom did, do coooking like a 3 star chef, and so on. But those aren't in your range type of girl. There's what you're dreaming of, and what you can really get. After time you learn that finally, what you have isn't perfect, but it's not that bad for a guy like you. Are you saying Mark Mosely was Michelle Pfeifer and Chip Lohmiller was Christy Brinkly? 1 1

I don't see anything impressive about his resume that says he would have been an upgrade over Hopkins. Anybody with a resume that clearly says they're an upgrade wouldn't be available in the first place. However, I'm ok with a little bit of a leap of faith. He's a young kicker, but at least one that had college success, being up for the Lou Groza as a junior. And he at least has kicked in live, competitive situations recently, looked good doing it, all while sitting under the learning tree of a guy making his case to be the GOAT. Baltimore has a track record of kickers impressing teams enough in preseason to get signed. I think New Orleans found Will Lutz like that. They traded one of their other preseason legs for a draft pick. They know what they're doing. I'll take my chances they know kicker talent when they see it. It's one thing to not have a resume that jumps out at you. It's another to have a resume that suggests you shouldn't even bother. All these kickers that were in camps and kicked in the preseason, not one of 'em was better than Blewitt? I find that hard to believe. 8 minutes ago, TryTheBeal! said: This one is on Ron. LightningBuggs
This is a direct indictment of this coaching staff. As I posted the day of Blewitt’s signing, there are always pro kickers waiting on a call and the WFT chose a guy who was a 70% kicker in college and hadn’t kicked in a game in 5 years. Truly mind-boggling. 5
CRobi21
2 weeks of kicker tryouts to find a sleeper! Priority #1 during the bye week.
Wyvern
I had not commented on the kicker issue -- assuming Rivera & Co. had seen something they didn't like about continuing with Hopkins. But Blewitt is simply not an NFL-level Kicker, and needs to be replaced ASAP.
COWBOY-KILLA-
Josh Lambo. Not sure why they wouldn’t have gone with a real commodity, albeit a struggling one of late.

Well if there are tryouts, whoever try's out should be tested with equipment on and with Cheeseman snapping, Way holding and the FG teams(offensive side/defensive side) as well. Trying out kickers just using a kicking tee will not prove much. Blewitt only missed one kick using a kicking tee in his tryout.

skins island connection
Good job, Ron!! No, GREAT job, Ron. Cutting Hopkins was a bad move, period. Even when he does miss a kick, at least they're getting past the LOS...

From what I have noticed, Cheeseman puts a lot of zip on his snaps and hasn't quite learned to finesse his snaps yet. Way seems to be fine or adjusted on the punts but FG's are more complicated of things needed to be right, compared to a punt.

Unless he totally skipped college he should have had more than enough practice at LS position to know how hard/soft/ lower/higher/more spin/less spin to snap the ball. No, Blewitt just flat out sucks, thats why he wasn't on a team before being brought in by the brainchild that i'm really starting to sour on a.k.a. Ron Rivera. His choices of assistants and staffing are showing their true colors. DelTaco couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. Coaches are supposed to be teachers, not just call plays and look baffled on the sidelines...

bowhunter
Surely someone out there has done a simulated trajectory study of these kicks to see if they are abnormally low??? Or is everyone just piling on here? If you don't like the new guy, that's fine. But for those of you arguing that Hopkins was a keeper.....😆😆😆

Since his 1st year with us, he has gone downhill since. On potential game winning kicks, in the 40's yard range, he wasn't clutch enough. Also Hopkins was too inconsistent from 48+ yards. A lot of kickers are being far more consistent making kicks from 48+ yards. Hopkins was overdue to be released. The problem, the evaluation process in bringing in another kicker who can be consistent enough. 1
NickyJ
Lambo has an 87.1% rate since 2015, bettering Hopkins by 3%. I'd be okay with giving him a shot, but otherwise, I'd be open to sticking our hands in the rough and seeing if we can pull out a diamond. It's not like Kai Forbath had a huge resume to his name. Lots of college kickers out there who would love to get their shot. And hopefully ones that have kicked in the past 3 years.
