You will. We all will. Only difference *most* of us are smart enough to prime the proverbial pump of our immune system by taking the free, completely safe, and ridiculously effective vaccine beforehand.

No we won’t. Lol

We literally will all get it at some point. Just like literally everyone at some point in their lives gets the flu. COVID is a permanent addition to our seasonal illnesses lineup.

The good news is you can magically transform it from a deadly virus that has killed over 600k Americans in the past year+ to a relatively harmless bug with very similar effects to cold/flu simply but going to your nearest drug store and requesting a readily available, free, completely safe vaccine.

Delta hit the UK in June at 60% vaxxed and thumped em, but burned out after a month.  Hit a vax/natural immunity wall…or so it seems.

Virginia sitting at 55% currently…and we are wide open at the car store and the cool guy store.

Do you know if that 55% is for all residents or for residents 18+?

In Fairfax County, it’s 59% for all and 70% for 18+.

Being vaccinated absolutely decreases your odds of getting a COVID infection, especially symptomatic. Right now the estimate is the vaccines, primarily mRNA, are 75-85% efficacious in preventing symptomatic Delta variant based on studies from UK, Scotland etc.

It decreases your odds of catching covid as a function of less people having it at any given time (so less vectors for spread) and are asymptomatic (so the virus isnt being spread through the air due to coughs and sneezes). So that’s very true that the more people vaxxed means the odds of everyone being exposed are less. But vaccines don’t prevent the virus from getting inside your body and causing you to “get” Covid, they give your body the ability to fight it off much faster while developing less or no symptoms. The post i was responding to said “people took the vaccine and still got it.”  Well, yea, because that’s not how vaccines work.

This entire subject is getting exhausting because so much disinformation is being spread and shared, so many people either don't understand what they are reading or are purposely being part of the problem that so much of the time spent talking about it is simply trying to supply people with the facts which they ultimately reject anyway.

I've made up my mind we are doomed as a species.  The next virus that comes along, if it is even a few % more deadly per infection, I don't see how it doesn't wipe us out or at least a significant amount to where the population is severely depleted.

Maybe it is a good thing for the Earth though.....bright side?

Everything you said was correct except the part of "having" covid. Covid is just another way of saying SARS-CoV-2 and it causes severe acute respiratory syndrome. It is still a coronavirus just the highly deadly and contiguous form.

I don't like it when people say they have covid. It is better and more accurate to say I have been infected by covid-19 or SARS-CoV-2.

I do think it is important to point out that the UK is still reporting over 20K Covid cases a day.

Total cases and delta cases have peaked, but it is also still spreading and making people sick.

(I'm seeing people talk about it being "burned" out as if it was no longer a problem there.  I suspect if you are in the UK and aren't vaccinated and haven't already had Covid, you actually have a pretty good chance of getting it.)

@No Nonsense, where do you get your notions about vaccines? I use the term notions for a reason.

There have been many substantive points raised, and you don’t do yourself many favors with responses like “lol” and “whatever.”

You might be interested to know that:

a) this vaccine is structured almost exactly like previous vaccines developed to combat SARS, which is one reason why it emerged so quickly;

b) there is an extremely high scientific threshold for a drug to be granted emergency use approval, so the idea that the vaccine is “experimental” is a right-wing fiction;

c) there are hundreds of commonly used drugs (from Viagra to SSRIs) that people gobble down but have been researched way, way less;

d) the fact that Delta advanced so rapidly despite vaccines is, while not 100% predictive, something rational people should be concerned about given how badly the pandemic has shaken the system;

e) you’re far more likely to experience long term effects (affects are emotions, bro) from . . . checks notes . . . Covid; and

f) getting a vaccine is minimally risky and, for ethical people, more than worth it to help avoid the very real possibility that I or you might be asymptomatic but give covid to a child or an immune compromised person like Coach Rivera.

There is much, much more but these are the highlights. Mandated vaccines have saved us in the past, from smallpox and polio among others. A mandate this time might save us from the colossal failure of scientific literacy that your posts embody.

You’re clearly interested in slogans rather than actual engagement. We could kick Covid’s ass in a month or two if everyone acted for the common good. Instead, jackholes who shout freedom prevent us from ACTUALLY HAVING IT.

Weren't dudes drinking deer antler spray or some **** awhile back? Lol, spot on.

I still personally blame Del Rio for some of this. You know that jack wagon is telling anyone who will listen that “You don’t know the long term effects” and “You are young and healthy it can’t hurt you” and all that other dumb **** the vaccinated people at Fox need tell them to keep them from being vaccinated.

Whether essentially everybody gets it depends on the number of people that get vaccinated, how long immunity last from having had it, and how fast it evolved to evade immunity.

But it is certainly looking like something like the chicken pox and the flu where essentially everybody gets it (unless you are taking extreme actions and living pretty remotely and isolated).

Again, I'm must not sure I understand your logic (unless you are taking extreme precautions to isolate yourself).
