Yeah we will figure it out, and obviously people are going through much worse (illness, death, etc.)

You could always go ahead and get married (courthouse) and reschedule the event/gathering to a later date.  Even have the ceremony, preacher, vows, etc. if necessary.   Or just have the reception portion later.

Dublin cancels St Patrick's Day parade

Dublin has canceled its St. Patrick’s Day parade amid concerns over the spread of the coronavirus, which has been diagnosed in 21 Irish patients thus far.

The cancellation of the March 17 parade, the largest in Ireland, comes the same day two more cases were confirmed in the country, the BBC reported, citing Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

Cork, which hosts the second-largest parade in Ireland, attracting up to 50,000 people, will also cancel its parade, according to the BBC.

Officials in NYC said they would close public schools only as last resort, in part because about 114,000 students in school system are homeless and may have nowhere else to get hot meals, medical care or even a place to wash their dirty laundry”

Keep them open, and use most of the classrooms as quarantine locations?

With all the bored couples having sex during the quarantine and all the elderly passing away from COVID-19, the national average age in Italy is going to drop so fast.

So once I get this thing, how long am I gonna be sick for?  Is it 3-5 days like an average cold, or am I gonna be bedridden for a week, or what are we dealing with?

More like 2-4 weeks

RT-PCR results of the patients, two men and two women aged 30 to 36 years, were positive, and CT scans showed mild to moderate areas of fluid buildup. The patients were given antiviral medication and recovered 12 to 32 days after symptom onset. After meeting the criteria for hospital release or lifting of quarantine, the patients were asked to remain at home for another 5 days.

But this is for people who required hospitalization.  I think < 20% of the cases required hospitalization.

A total of 81% of cases in the JAMA study were classified as mild, meaning they did not result in pneumonia or resulted in only mild pneumonia. Fourteen percent of cases were severe (marked by difficulty breathing), and 5% were critical (respiratory failure, septic shock, and/or multiple organ dysfunction or failure).

And in local news...

Hundreds exposed to church rector with coronavirus urged to quarantine; new case reported in Arlington

A third case of coronavirus in Northern Virginia was announced Monday, shortly after D.C. officials urged hundreds of Christ Church, Georgetown attendees to self-quarantine because of their exposure to the Rev. Timothy Cole, the church rector, who is the city’s first known coronavirus patient.

Cole, who first became sick after returning from a Feb. 22 conference of Episcopal leaders in Louisville, tested positive for coronavirus Saturday and is quarantined at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in stable condition.

Cole oversaw multiple services on March 1, attended by a total of 550 people, the church has said. He provided Communion at the 11:15 a.m. services. Church officials said he appeared healthy that day and had been regularly washing his hands. But he had been ill in late February.

The Virginia Department of Health said their latest confirmed case is a 60-something resident of Arlington County who developed fever, cough and shortness of breath after an international trip.

So much crap. Tax relief, a few dollars, that's what it amounts to.

Not only that, but if you're not working, you're not paying any taxes to get relief from.

I'm an economic idiot, but even I can figure that out.

That seems like small potatoes when your stadium holds tens of thousands of people in close proximity.

Next step is to hold games without fans in attendance (as they did in Italy) just for broadcast, before eventually cancelling games altogether (as they are now doing in Italy).

Where people can touch your shoulders or tap you in the stands, or (in basketball) you go after a loose ball, dive into the crowd and get a face full of coronavirus

This is the beginning of disease outbreaks as the Earth's ice melts, releasing bacteria and viruses that modern humans don't have immunity too.

40 years of darkness!  Earthquakes, volcanoes, the dead rising from the grave.  Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

Yeah I saw that. Barring the press just seems pointless without taking the other steps.

it does insulate the players somewhat.....expensive players

We have 1 confirmed case in our county.  Waiting to see if it explodes to 100 or so in the next 2 weeks.... if so they will shut things down.  If it stays to a handful will feel better.

Feels like there is a lot of panic out there.
