GOP Aide Admits To Journalist Why They're Letting People Die

 

"I will read you something that Gene Robinson was writing. He argues that too many Republicans were taking covid's side literally in the pandemic, creating an environment killing Americans who shouldn't have to die. Republican DeSantis transparently positioning himself as a contender for 2024, and if Floridians die along the way, so be it.'

 

"Gene is a serious Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, that's pretty harsh coming from him. Do you think that's fair, or too far?" he asked journalist Julia Ioffe.

 

"I think it is very fair, Abbott and DeSantis positioning themselves for 2024," she said.

 

"You saw DeSantis' wife, she said, 'Oh, it is so great, my husband is a great dad just like Trump and he has the same hand motion as Trump. It's so obvious that he's positioning himself just like Trump."

 

But here's the part that every Democratis candidate should be using in ads, starting right this minute.

 

"About a month ago, I was talking to a pretty senior Hill aide on the Republican side. Vaccinated, everybody in his shop was vaccinated. I said, 'What is the deal, why are you doing is this? It's your own constituency you're killing.'

 

"And he said they just want to make Biden look bad. They want the crisis to happen on Biden's watch so that he does not get the credit for the vaccine that they felt Trump should get the credit for. That's it. I mean, my jaw hit the floor and I had to work to get it back up."

Idiots. It's the unvaccinated Trump adherents and their children who are getting sick and some dying! Biden isn't going to look bad. He is making vaccines available to anyone over 12 who wants them. You can't fix stupid!

Police Arrest Teen Accused of Helping GOP Strategist’s Underage Sex Trafficking

 

Law enforcement in Florida has arrested Gisela Castro Medina, a 19-year-old accused of helping a wealthy, young Republican strategist in Minnesota prey on girls and recruit them for paid sex.

 

She faces the same criminal charges as her alleged pal, GOP operative Anton Lazzaro: sex trafficking of a minor, attempt to commit sex trafficking, and obstruction of justice.

 

Both hail from Minnesota. But while the FBI arrested Lazzaro in Minneapolis on Thursday morning, jail records show that law enforcement caught up with Castro Medina that same evening in the Florida panhandle. She was labeled a “fugitive from justice” and jailed overnight, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department.

 

She is the chair of the university’s chapter of Minnesota College Republicans, the group confirmed. A person who knows her personally confirmed to The Daily Beast that Castro Medina was traveling in Florida this week.

 

In the days since his arrest, Republicans in Minnesota have been distancing themselves from Lazzaro. When The Daily Beast interviewed him in July, weeks before his arrest, he threatened this reporter for investigating his actions.

 

At the time, he claimed: “There's nothing to this case. It's not some Matt Gaetz or whatever you think this is.”

 

By coincidence, his associate was jailed in Okaloosa County, which is located in Gaetz’s congressional district in Florida.

Mike Lindell’s own cybersecurity expert said Wednesday that his team has been able to find no proof of election fraud, though that’s precisely what the MyPillow maven hired him to do.

Josh Merritt told the Washington Times, “So our team said we’re not going to say that this is legitimate if we don’t have confidence in the information.”

 

“The information” in question is, according to Lindell, 37 terabytes of “irrefutable” evidence that China-backed hackers broke into American election systems and switched votes from then-president Donald Trump to President Joe Biden in 2020. Lindell’s theory revolves around intercepted data of “packet captures” that prove a cyberattack.

 

Lindell hosted a symposium in South Dakota this week to share his “evidence.” In addition to offering $5 million to anyone who could disprove his findings — which is an offer that is no longer on the table — he displayed video of rolling text he said was the “packet captures.”

 

Former senior National Security Agency analyst and whitstleblower J. Kirk Wiebe told the Times that the scrolling text on display was probably meant to resemble “packet captures,” but wasn’t the real deal.

 

Merritt maintained that the data did contain important “forensic” evidence, but concluded, “We were handed a turd and I had to take that turd and turn it into a diamond and that’s what I think we did.”

Graham doesn't do anything without first taking into account the political winds and how it could affect him. So to me this says he probably believes that things are not great in Trump world and are going to get worse so he's trying to move away from it somewhat.

 

All of the revelations about Trump's overt attempts to, for all intents and purposes, stage a coup and overturn the election (even floating the military being involved with it), the criminal investigations into whether he committed election fraud solicitation, the ongoing criminal investigation into his businesses, and all of the Big Lie election fraud pushers going even more down the rabbit hole into La-La land may have convinced Graham that being a Trump sycophant isn't advantageous to him anymore.

 

So he's basically hedging his bets.

Eight years after working to persuade voters who opposed their presidential nominee to give them another look, Republican leaders are opting for a different approach this time around: making it harder for those voters to cast ballots at all.

 

Mitt Romney’s 4-percentage-point loss to then-President Barack Obama in 2012 triggered a months-long introspective that was presented at the party’s summer meeting in Boston. It called for Republicans to do a better job of reaching out to nonwhite voters who had overwhelming supported Obama and given him a second term.

 

Yet as the Republican National Committee gathers in Tennessee for this year’s summer meeting, there is zero attempt to produce any such “autopsy” of Donald Trump’s 4-point loss to Joe Biden in November. Instead, party leaders are increasing their calls for “election integrity” ― a push that echoes Trump’s endless lies that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from him.

 

“It’s gone from an autopsy to an assault on democracy,” said Stuart Stevens, a top aide in Romney’s 2012 campaign. “Instead of doing the hard work of getting people to vote for you, let’s make it harder for people who aren’t going to vote for us to vote. That’s what it is.”

That's according to a new report from Stanford's Internet Observatory on the platform, called Gettr.


The service "does not implement industry standard" moderation tools, which filter out child pornography.

 

A pro-Trump social media service has a major problem, according to a new report: It's not filtering out known images of child pornography.

 

Gettr, which was started by former Trump aide and spokesperson Jason Miller, has "very few – if any – mechanisms for detecting spam, violent content, pornography, and child exploitation imagery," a new study by the Stanford Internet Observatory said.

 

The study found 16 examples of images on Gettr that were flagged by PhotoDNA, a photo-moderation database, as "child exploitation imagery."

 

The PhotoDNA database is considered an industry standard tool for frontline defense against users uploading images of child pornography.

 

When Stanford's Internet Observatory uploaded benign test images from the PhotoDNA database to Gettr, they weren't flagged before being posted – which likely means the database isn't being used at all on the service. Instead, it appears to be relying solely on user-based moderation, the researchers found.

 

Essentially, the only way offensive content is flagged to Gettr moderators is by users reporting it themselves.

GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert ripped for mocking Afghans killed trying to flee on U.S. plane

 

There has been a rush of Republican critiques and complaints about the Biden administration's execution of the U.S.'s withdrawal from the nation after nearly 20 years of fighting. But no reaction appears to have gone as low as that from freshman Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado who joked about Afghans filmed falling off a U.S. military plane to their deaths on Monday. 

 

"At least they won't have to read 'mean tweets,'" the congresswoman tweeted on Monday. Boebert's tweet was accompanied by a video of hundreds of Afghan men swarming a U.S. military plane as it takes off. Several men quickly fell off the plane. Their deaths were filmed.
