The Sewer That Is The GOP: With All The White Supremacists, Conspiracy Nutters, And Other Malicious Whacko Subgroups, How Does It Get Fixed?

OK, this seems to be one of several reports recently of Congress critters (to use the Jumbo parlance) either failing to report something or reporting something past the time limit on their financial disclosure forms.  Is there no penalty for failing to disclose?  If not, what is the purpose of the disclosure as they can just lie and get away with it.

Colorado's Boebert discloses husband's work for energy firm

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert's husband made $478,000 last year working as a consultant for an energy firm, information that was not disclosed during Boebert's congressional campaign and only reported in her financial disclosure forms filed this week.

In paperwork filed with the House of Representatives on Tuesday, the Republican congresswoman reported that her husband, Jayson Boebert, received the money as a consultant to “Terra Energy Productions” in 2020, and earned $460,000 as a consultant for the firm in 2019.

Boebert did not report the income last year, when she stunned the political world by ousting incumbent Rep. Scott Tipton during the GOP primary in Colorado's sprawling 3rd district, which stretches from ski resorts to energy-rich basins in the state's west. Boebert went on to win the general election in the Republican-leaning district.

Ethics and campaign finance laws require candidates and members of Congress to disclose sources of their immediate family's income, along with major investments and assets, to let voters evaluate potential conflicts of interest. Boebert has been a defender of the energy industry, which is very active in her district.

As an atheist, I find these Biblical references to end times and 666 and other nonsense hilarious!

As a preacher's daughter and a realist, I have to see both sides.

1.  Everything we've done.

2.  Everything we could have done.

And that's all I've got to say about that.

Internet Calls for Marjorie Taylor Greene to Be Censured or Expelled After Profane Rant Attacking President Biden

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) posted a profane and vulgar video of herself attacking President Joe Biden over Afghanistan, leading to calls for her censure or expulsion from Congress.

All House of Representative members are required by the Ethics Committee’s Code of Official Conduct to “behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.”

Greene, some note, appears to have violated that rule.

“Joe Biden, you are not a president, you are a piece of ****,” Greene says in her video she posted to the far right social medias site GETTR. “Thousands of Americans are stuck over there in Afghanistan and you are letting the Taliban kick your ass, while you are lecturing governors about masks and vaccines. Do your job, bring these Americans home.”

Many are expressing outrage.

GOP Chair Jennifer Carnahan Resigns After Board Agrees To $38,000 Severance Pay

Embattled Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan resigned from her post Thursday after top party officers approved thousands of dollars in severance pay, a move that marks the beginning of a new chapter for an organization mired in controversy.

The State Executive Board during its meeting voted 8-7 approving a three-month’s severance totaling about $38,000. Carnahan herself was the deciding vote.  The board unanimously approved launching an independent investigation into allegations about the party’s workplace culture during Carnahan’s tenure.

The payout and subsequent departure represent a significant turning point in a week-long scandal which included allegations that Carnahan cultivated a toxic work environment and ignored claims of sexual harassment by members of her staff. She also faced questions about her close ties to Anton Lazzaro, a top GOP donor accused of sex trafficking minors.
