I won't post excerpts from this, but it is a comparatively deep dive into another very pivotal figure re: Trump: Robert Mercer (and family/friends ).

I've known of him for quite awhile and he's also a Roger Stone pal. Like Koch's, the DeVos's, or Murdoch, etc. he's long been a huge player on the right, particularly on the extremes,. He's a major conspiracy nut and investor behind brietbart and was instrumental in Trump hooking up with Bannon and Conway. He's another billionaire and another example of how being crazy, crooked, and malicious on a number of matters doesn't mean you can't be rich and powerful in this world.

THE RECLUSIVE HEDGE-FUND TYCOON BEHIND THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY

How Robert Mercer exploited America’s populist insurgency.

Hopefully we'll have laws/rules in the future about tax payers spending to house and protect the spouse who doesn't live in the WH. Also, about a president having tax payers spend for them to go away seemingly every weekend while the president also gets to charge again because it's a commercial property he/she owns.

This sucks.

Not sure I'd approve of such a law.  Seems like it could easily be unfair, to me.

Nah, to me, the right enforcement mechanism for abuses like this is a free press, and voter retribution.  And maybe, congressional intervention.

We don't agree. Call it tax payer protections. He's double dipping here. We pay him to send him to Florida almost every weekend. It's ridiculous when he's talking about cutting x, y, and z.

That sounds like an argument for why the President shouldn't be allowed vacations.  Not for his choice of where to take them.

I don't begrudge the President vacations but good lord the hypocrisy is ridiculous and there are some seriously sketchy ethical implications with regards to him doubling the membership price of Mar a Lago and then using it as the "Southern White House" (and that the Southern White House is a commercial opration).  Also, as a billionaire and "populist" he should cover the cost of security for his adult family members who choose to live outside the WH/ travel for business. The Melania thing looks sketchy as hell with respect to their relationship.

That is really amazing. Is there any reporting that this has happened in previous administrations?

This is standard procedure for working for Trump.  I've surprised some of the people agreed to join his cabinet.

Trump isn't going anywhere before the midterms.

Ahh, the Europeans get to meet Trump's Kabinyet..............

Quote

According to G20 officials who interacted with Mnuchin at the meeting in the spa and casino town of Baden-Baden, Germany, many opted not to challenge Mnuchin on protectionism language.

Instead they chose to give some space to him and Trump's new administration to refine their trade views in the hopes for moderation by the time Germany hosts a G20 leader's summit in July.

Has a vintage kind of Chamberlain feel to it, that always works
