This is why I don't think it will ever get fixed.  The things that need to happen, won't.

It would require overturning Citizen's United and with the current makeup of this court, not gonna happen in our generation.

I could come up with a few things but they wouldn't make it past the profanity filter.

Well that's depressing.  I mean feel free to let it edit away!  I'm sorry I frustrated you!

Where are you these days?   I thought you lived in Mexico.  Maybe I’m mis-remembering things.

Philly, as one has appropriately pointed out.  I think I'm working on being the most hated Skins fan!

Being that you are serious, it appears, I have a serious question.  Can you help me with what would you consider me, and what examples are there that I am not on the Republican side of things?

I may owe you an apology. I could’ve sworn you were more far right / trollish (was sure of it when you said it was you and twa) but took a cursory look at your posts and they’re a lot more level headed. I may have confused you with someone else. Sorry about that.

Didn't Hillary way outspend Trump?

1.2 BILLION or so ?....not even a Billion can save some things.

Maybe but that’s not the point. We have a system where people give money to lawmakers and then the lawmakers in turn make laws that benefit the people who gave them the money. It’s a broken system.

For example, Republicans proposed Obamacare. 15 years and a ****load of money from insurance lobbyists later, the same ideas all of a sudden were evil socialism.

That's the second time this week that's happened around here.  We may need to start wearing these when posting:

They've abandoned nearly every Conservative value that once defined Republicanism . . . .

There is very little Trump has done that wasn't done by W  Or Reagan, for that matter  Attacking NATO and tariffs are the only ones I can think of.

No apology needed, mistakes happen.  I hate trolling, so I try not to - but when I feel I'm trolled I will troll back for fun.  I think message boards have one huge benefit over twitter - the ability to more easily have a conversation, so I will engage in conversation here time to time.  I'm newer to following politics (Obama 2nd term really), instead of just ignoring political talk.

ha!  I think I just go places people don't.  For example, do I even attempt at running an away ES tailgate in Philly on 9/8?  It might be the 3rd time that it ends up me, a cooler, and a bag of charcoal.  But I do like gifts🤷‍♂️.

How is Trump's cabinet these days? He doesn't have to fight to deregulate, he just needs to gut the regulatory bodies to the point that they can't do their jobs.

Bush didn't do that.

Trump is polar opposite of Reagan and Bush on immigration, both of them understood the big tent, and that hispanics tend to be more conservative leaning until some ****ing racists become the face of the party.

Bit unfair to compare LGBTQ issues on Trump and W/Ronnie because the last decade we've seen the most movement there.

Bush preached prolife judges but didn't appoint them to SCOTUS.

then pass a constitutional amendment.

HAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Oh my god that's freaking hilarious!

The idea that in this political environment that either side could pass ANY sort of Constitutional Amendment and have it ratified is freaking hysterical!

Welcome to African American historical experience with white male power and dominance.

This dude is just realizing that he has been blind to the fact that he can be on the downside of it too instead of just benefiting from it.

That is the funny thing about Trump. A lot of white people see this country is foul and has always been foul. At least they don't have state-sponsored violence against them.

I actually think this is something that most states would agree with.

Need a new Supreme Court majority. First get Trump out and usher in a Democratic Senate.

Not gonna be easy.

Kavanaugh isn't just in there to protect Trump, he's in there to protect everyone's $$$.

Kennedy may have been the swing vite but he was the Citizens United author. Kavanaugh's his protege.

Please, anti-citizens united has like 75% support, but that doesn't mean a damned thing.

Did you know that if a bill has 90% support or 10% support the odds it becomes law are exactly the same?

Passing a Constitutional Amendment in this hyper partisan environment isn't about who agrees with or supports what, it's about ****ing the party who's idea it was.

Maybe states need to do things 1st.

I think that's one of the things Steve Bullock is trying to talk about in Montana with dark money. Yeah, it would end up back in the SCOTUS. But taking a States Rights POV for things like transparency with tax returns, and going after dark money in states with big TV markets. That could put a lot of the ****tiness in the spotlight again. Embarrass those involved. Drag them out to defend themselves.

I am well aware of all that.

You get a Dem congress and president, I think you can pass a constitutional amendment creating stronger campaign finance and overturning Citizens United. Instead of being shook, you have to try it.

Problem is, the same money funneled into the federal level is funneled into the state level. Here in PA, it's nearly as bad as at the federal level.

No way, the lobbyists agree to overturn C.U. at this point.

Lobbyists will do whatever they can to prevent the initiation of the process. In PA, the big industry would be the natural gas industry.
