Mad Mike
I celebrate when the defense starts performing. We still need a serious infusion of talent on Defense before even the best D coordinator can make a real impact.

We still need a serious infusion of talent on Defense before even the best D coordinator can make a real impact. How much do you want to bet that this defense improves with a better coordinator? Wade Phillips, with the same players would've had a much better defense than what we saw these past five years.
RhodeIsland Ave
I'm not going to get happy about this until we see how the D staff rounds out. It's a small step in the right direction by not retaining Haz. My fear is that it seems the FO is turning over full responsibility to Jay, a guy who was horrible at everything he did. Allen is trying to become the next Teflon Don, insulating himself from the failures that are sure to come next season. Using the defense of, "Those where Jay's decisions". Epic failure
I Love The Skins
No I would have have some younger and not a retread let's do what other teams hire a young hot shot from a team that has a good defense.
TSO
Definitely a year (at the very least) too late, but thank God. Now I can only hope they handle hiring a new D Coordinator properly. So hard to trust anything they do now.

AM626
Hope so, but I'm not convinced that's the case. I don't see this as some panacea that's going to change things overnight. Hopefully it's a step in the right direction. Yeah I know but to go into the right direction a first step is necessary and this is a good 1st step.. Now let's see what follows.. You know when you pull out a dagger from your back the first thing you feel is sweet euforia, that's what I felt for a moment, now we need to figure out how to clean this dirty wound. rebornempowered
They've done step number one. Now it is time to focus on the line and secondary in the offseason so that I can actually hope for some improvement next year.

jadams5214
Finally the career long embodiment of mediocrity is gone. No more Jim Haslett although Chris Russell will never let his memory fade. Guaranteed that for years to come he will bring up Haslett every single time that the Skin's defense makes a bad play. The new DC better not be Raheem Morris - the coach of the worst unit on the team although that would be a typical move for this franchise.
GoldSkinner
No I would have have some younger and not a retread let's do what other teams hire a young hot shot from a team that has a good defense. We need a retread for the coordinator position. Wade is perfect. He's a good d-coordinator that'll stay put, because no one will hire him for a HC position again. FuriousD
Hallelujah!! This move raises more questions than it solves problems but it sure feels like a breath of fresh air. For the record, I'm against a move back to a 4-3. This team can't afford any more steps backward while retooling. I would prefer to forge ahead with the 3-4 and keep adding talent. Burgold
The problem with a young hot shot is that young hot shot has to believe not only that he can turn the boat around, but that Gruden will too. Otherwise, young hotshot is out of a job in a year even if he shows amazing progress.
redskins4ever28
If they keep/promote raheem, we have to take a stand as fans. We cant allow this idiot/idiots to run our team into the ground another year.
PortisBetts
Per ESPN- "During his time, the Redskins' defense has finished a collective 29th in total yards and 30th in points per game. This season, the banged-up unit ranked 20th in total yards and 29th in points allowed" How in the hell did he even keep the job for 5 years? That is just so awful. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
DogofWar1
BREAKING NEWS: Redskins and Jim Haslett mutually agree that he sucks. BN: Redskins and Jim Haslett mutually agree that he's terrible at coaching. BN: Redskins and Jim Haslett mutually concur that his playcalling is straight up some of the stupidest bull-honky that anyone has ever seen. BN: Redskins and Jim Haslett mutually agree that a chipmunk choosing plays randomly would perform better. BN: Redskins and Jim Haslett mutually agree that "anyone but Jim Haslett" is definitely the right move. BN: Redskins and Jim Haslett mutually agree that getting pitchforked by the fanbase probably will mess up their holiday plans, and thus make the difficult decision to part ways. HailSkinz1
The new DC should give us an idea if we're serious about turning this team around. Not only should Morris not be promoted, he should be let go too. We need to stop raiding coaching "talent" from bad teams and hiring our friends and start looking at talent from consistently good teams like NE, Seattle, Green Bay, Pittsburgh and the like. If we go after Rex Ryan, then we'll know we are not serious about winning. Hail, H

Jacoah
This is absolutely the first step in repairing and righting a sinking ship. The second step is as follows: 2015 Draft - Pick one: Offensive Lineman, Pick Two: Offensive Lineman, Pick Three: Safety or DB....
