  1. No, I'm not. Ive never posted anything there before and there is a very good chance I never will again. It's means for me to speak my mind. Maybe one last time before I die. I don't need anyone to make me feel better about what I do. And I certainly don't give a **** what some close minded, high and mighty princess thinks about me without bothering to listen to a ****ing word I'm saying. So many sick hateful people here. Some of you still going on and on attacking me. For what? To make yourself feel superior? Some of you are just ****ing assholes. Mods... Is this the community you wanted to build? If so, good job. Thanks for reminding me why I left. This place is a cesspool full of assholes vying to be the top turd. I feel for the good people who stay here. I really have enjoyed getting to know some of you. I missed that part. Some of you I like and even admire very much. But this place is toxic and some of you really can kiss my ass. With apologies to those who shared kind words and asked some great questions... I'm done.
  2. This is me pouring my guts out. Its really uncomfortable for me to watch. There are no ulterior motives other than to get both sides talking. I thought some people would like to see and understand the laws surrounding the gun the shooter used and ended up covering several other subjects along the way. It's long, full of me fumbling for words and for me very awkward but it is what it is and this may be my last chance to say it. If you want to judge me, judge me for this. This is who I am and what I believe.
  3. That's it. I'm done. If all goes well tomorrow, maybe I'll be back to see if anyone has any good questions or discussions about the topic. If not, It was nice knowing some of you and I appreciate the good thoughts. Those of you who just want to attack me and question my motivation... My dying words are you can kiss my ass.
  4. Lo I was trying to make a point of simple human nature for us to make personal connections. I guess that's too complicated for some people. **** like this is why I left. Some of you children want to make everything personal. You don't like me? I don't give a ****. Right now I don't care much for you either. Do you have a rational comment on the subject? Is there a point that I made you disagree with? Why? Do you have a solution? NO? Then shut up and let the adults talk.
  5. And I've answered it several times. AGAIN.... Why does it matter why I did this or when? Is it not enough that I'm doing it? I really don't give a crap what you think of me. Can we talk about the issues?
  6. We definitely have a problem We need to identify those driven by hatred or mental health issues and separate them from the tools used to do harm. Start with universal and improved background checks and the mental health infrastructure to deal with those with problems or bad intentions. I'll be the first to say that most gun owners disagree with me. If you watch my video you will see that I have a serious problem with Thoughts and prayers without action ( F you Ted Cruz). I'm not sure what it will take but we can take but the only way we are going to get gun owners involved is to remove their fear that you want to take their guns. My argument to gun owners is that if you want to have sensible laws get involved and stop just saying no.
  7. 'Let me ask you something. If you saw your car used to win a race, wouldnt you notice and say wow that's pretty cool, I won the same car! I Wached Sicario (spelling is wrong Im sure but dont care) and in one scene where tho woman is attacked they showed a bathroom mirror exactly like the one in my bathroom. It's a simple stupid thing but it made a connection. AND... While I have tried to not focus on my health issues because I'm not here for your pity, dont you think it's possible that facing my own mortality makes me want to speak out one last time as well? What the F**** does it matter what my motivation was. Why the F**** are you so obsessed with me rather the subject? Maybe about 2-5% It's usually the more casual gun owners or new gun owners who should have had better training. There is a culture among most serious gun owners to be responsible. idiots and assholes are ridiculed.
  8. Whatever dude. Life is too short for me to give a damn what you think. I'm trying to do something, PERIOD. FULL STOP. You can either get on board or piss off. NOW you are blocked.
  9. I haven't mad a single assumption about you. Your words tell me what I need to know. You want a fight. You want to demonize me. The attitude you have shown here is the problem. Both sides do it. I'm sick of it.
  10. I also tell gun owners that while Airbags and seatbelts don't stop all deaths they do prevent many more from happening and we need to do something other than thoughts and prayers.
  11. Again, you ASSUME i did not care. YOU ARE WRONG. Apparently you are not interested in a rational discussion and only want judge others that you do not know. Maybe you should watch my video. I'll be back in a few. Time to upload that video.
  12. Great Question! Stop treating gun owners as evil people. And the best start would be to say "Look I don't want to take away your guns. How can we compromise to help reduce gun violence?" If you watch the video you will see that I plea for gun owners to listen to the other side and get involved in finding solutions. There is currently a severe ammo shortage and prices are very high. Demand has not decreased at all,
  13. You seem to assume all gun owners are heartless people. I resent your characterization of me. WTF have I said that would make you believe I don't care? Every shooting hurts. Owning the same gun just adds a personal connection. That's just human nature. AR15's and other semi auto versions of military guns are not "mill spec" even if they use many mil spec parts. That would involve full auto and in many cases restricted ammunition. I'm a pragmatist. There are millions and millions of ARs and other such weapons (some FAR more dangerous) in the hands of law abiding citizens. You don't hear or think about them because those people are not using them to hurt others. The REALITY is that the nation is divided almost in half on the subject and gun owners have rights too. The REALITY is that no matter what you personally believe should be done, there are millions of americans that would start a civil war if you try to take their guns away. I am not one of them and I don't agree but I recognize the truth. If you think gun deaths are bad now, try taking them away from people. As a pragmatist, I prefer to find solutions that both sides might be able to agree on and that would actually do something to reduce deaths.
  14. Pretty much. I hate the NRA. I hate their tactics and believe they do more harm than good even for gun rights. The more they act like assholes the more anti-gun people they create.
  15. Hmmmm, good question. I guess it would be the types of people I work with. Many are ex military as you might expect but some people just aren't who you would imagine selling guns. One in-store sales person we had was studying for his medical degree. He has graduated and in practice. Another used to work for NASA. One of our gunsmiths, is studying to be a plastic surgeon. All in all it's a very good bunch of people and the company itself fosters a family type atmosphere. They have been very supportive of me through my health issues. Also, the office I first started working in was also the call center full of women and I heard many conversations about makeup and such. lol. The rate of drivers who get into accidents FAR outnumbers the number of gun owners who act irresponsibly or with bad intent. There are repercussions for those who are irresponsible that act as a deterrent.
  16. I kind of skipped over this but its a good question. I have seen exactly that. In one instance someone was trying to use someone else's credit card. We asked for an ID and things were not adding up. It appeared that he was a kid trying to use Mom's CC and though we couldn't prove it, he was denied. Private sales are currently not well regulated. Most gun owners are pretty responsible about selling their guns to others but other than trying to spot the bad guys at the time of sale, there isn't much anyone can do . That's why I support universal background checks.
  17. Wow, Thanks man. That really means a lot. On the retail side, our people are trained to look for straw purchases. (buying a gun for someone else). They ask questions and look for slip ups. Same with mental health. Online sales must go through a licensed FFL for transfer, they do background checks and scrutinize the customer. Most are very good at it and we have had lots of returns for that reason. Occasionally some customers will buy two guns, one to shoot and one just to collect. Sometimes someone will buy a second gun for a family member who also has to go through a background check. Sometimes dealers buy several for resale because our prices are good and we can get guns that they cant (availability not legality). It doesn't happen often but Ive seen some crazy stuff... One clown wrote us a letter asking for guns to be donated for the pro 2A militia he was forming. After a good laugh it was thrown in the trash. On another occasion we contacted Chicago PD over what appeared to be a sketchy straw purchase. The refused to do anything. In another case we helped to convict a California Sherif who was buying restricted (law enforcement only) guns from us and others to sell to others. I would not work for this company if they were any other way. Insurance might be going too far. I don't think it's needed for the millions of law abiding citizens and would only benefit the insurance industry who are already just thieves. I would replace that with better access to mental health care and diagnosis. Universal health care would go a long way here.
  18. I support universal background checks on all gun sales and believe in deeper background checks for weapons like ARs. In other words, If you can pass a class and go through a deeper background check like those for a concealed carry permit. If you want to ask a serious question let's hear it. I'm here to talk about the way things are and what we can do about stopping these murders without a civil war to take guns away. There are well over 10 million ARs or semi-auto versions of other military weapons in the US. Many collectors have several and some have dozens. They are not going to give them up without a war. (if they would- I would) Banning future sales would mean telling one group of the population that they cant have the same gun that millions of others already own. We are litterally talking half the population. Do you want to make smart ass remarks and argue, or do you want to talk about solutions that wont tear the country in half? Both sides need to respect the other.
  19. Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately no. My thing was always street and event photography. A ruined hip and my bad heart dont let me walk much and the camera sat for 2 years before I eventually sold it. On topic: First, the pistol brace was developed and made legal for those with disabilities but as they became more available others have used them to circumvent paying the tax stamp and the paperwork for an SBR (short barreled rifle). An AR pistol can not have a vertical forward grip, traditional shoulder stock, bipod, or a magnified optic or scope. It's a senseless law because none of those things makes the gun more lethal to mass shooter and there are options like bullpups which are legal and pack a full length barrel into a small frame. An AR pistol with a shorter than 16" barrel looses a lot of velocity which actually makes it a little less lethal There is actually a very large community of sport shooters who just use these guns to go shooting for fun. Many people use ARs for home defense if they live in less populated areas. Some people use them for small game and varmit control. Personally I own my AR for three reasons.... #1 I live in the middle of Redneckville USA and have been known to piss off racist idiots and trump supporters who own AR's and have on several occasions threatened me. #2 Having shot the gun I found that it is just plain fun. ARs shoot soft and you don't have to waste time at the range reloading the gun. #3 SHTF Basic prepared for anything should there be a breakdown in society. I bought mine after selling my Sig 516 which is a piston driven AR because it was so heavy. It hurt my shoulder to hold it up for long and the short barrel of the pistol made shooting easier for me. Sadly, when I first heard that the shooter used an AR pistol I had a feeling it might be the model I own because like most Ruger products, they are very affordable. With a discount, mine was less than $500 before I added the red dot optic and an aftermarket flash hider.
  20. This isn't a comedy thread. I find it sad that you would take that angle. Does anyone have anything that addresses the topic or a serious question?
  21. He's baaaack! For those who don't know me I've been a member of this board almost since it's inception. Ive been gone for a while but with things being the way they are, I thought it might be a good time to start this thread. For the past three years I have worked for a a company with a large brick and mortar gun store with a growing online outlet first as a graphic artist and now writing SEO product descriptions. I was a relatively new gun owner when I started and didn't know much about guns or the industry. I wasn't looking to work in the industry but I needed a job and they were hiring. At the time sales were slow and were doing a lot of advertising and selling at very low margins. Guns and ammo were cheep. Covid changed everything. We literally had to stop advertising because we couldn't keep up with demand. It really hasn't let up since. I helped in the call center contacting FFL dealers for copies of their FFL (Federal Firearms License) for gun transfers and did what I could in the warehouse to pull guns to be shipped. Eventually we started advertising again but when the new web development team couldn't find an SEO (search engine optimized) writer I was recruited for that roll. Now I research firearms and write product descriptions. I have a concealed carry permit and currently own a Sig Sauer P365, A Sig Sauer P226, A Strybog 9mm PDW (Basically a semi-auto version of a compact sub machine gun with a pistol brace), and a Ruger AR15 pistol (the same gun used by the Boulder shooter). I'm currently working from home because of Covid concerns. I at extremely high risk due to a very bad heart. In fact I recently had a second heart attack that has left me very weak with declining health and i'm going in for a procedure tomorrow to try to clear a clogged stent tomorrow so Ive taken this week off. Other doctors have told me there is nothing they can do but this surgeon was consulted and thinks he can help - no guarantees. Yesterday I recorded an emotional video that I am now converting for upload to youtube after I found out that I own the shooters gun. Finding that out was like a gut punch. I feel very uncomfortable putting myself out there like that because its a very personal video but I have a lot to say and this might be my last chance to say it. I'll post a link once it's uploaded. Anyway, If you have any questions about the firearm industry, how online gun sales work, or anything like that, fire away while you have the chance. Just understand that while i may disagree with most of my co-workers politics and support reasonable regulations, I'm not here to trash anyone. The company I work for closely follows all laws and is very responsible about who they sell too. I've seen many people turned away over concerns of motive or mental health. T All that said... what do you want to know?
  22. Halfway kidding? You just claimed I called you names. I'm frankly still stunned by that. It's a false accusation. PERIOD In fact you misrepresented me twice.I haven't considered myself a conservative since the 80s. One of the things that turned me off about republicans was the use of the word libtard. I have always said I am an independent. My record here backs me up. I may come down strongly on one side or another of any subject but it is NEVER for party reasons. You want to know the first time I got banned? I cant remember his handle at the moment, One of the founders of the site before it was bought out... he was a surgeon I believe. Anyway the subject was Israel bulldozing the homes of terrorists families. Not just the terrorist themselves. but punitive damages on their families. It was cruel, inhumane and probably created more terrorists. BLADE... That was his name.... Blade thought it was just fine and when I took the "liberal" position and disagreed he called me an ant-semite. I went off on his ***. Yeah.... pure hard core conservative. That's me. In this thread alone there are dozens of examples of you-know-who plugging away with smart *** comments, doing things like working the "rules" by sarcastically a calling me a "genius" to suggest i'm stupid in an underhanded way. Flinging **** against the wall for no other reason than to crap all over a serious discussion. THAT is disrespectful too. But he second I say anything back, I'm the bad guy. And we're back to my screen name.... Really? Enjoy the low hanging fruit. Color me disappointed
  23. I know. I follow it all. I said this to a scientist just the other day... These days everyone make a point of thanking military personnel for their service. Which is fine. I was doing it long before it was popular. But scientists like yourself deserve our thanks too. So thank YOU for fighting the good fight and advancing human knowledge, even if some are too corrupt or brainwashed to listen. Meantine I'll continue to do what little I can with things like this... http://themadcentrist.com/2016/03/12/climate-change-and-the-fuel-of-denial/ BTW - love the handle. I read pretty much all of the Elric books back in HS. I bucked them up for the cool cover art and stuck around for the stories.
