ejay183
Dick Stockton, I think. Called him that pretty much the entire game.

TheItalianStallion
People have tended to talk about the secondary as if the whole thing was an area of need, but even before tonight, I only thought safety was such an area, and even there, that can be masked by a good DC, as Haslett's good gameplan and playcalling tonight (well, yesterday) proved. Bacon
All of the corners were great tonight and I'm starting to gain faith in them, especially Breeland and Amerson. We have talent there, though it is quite rough still. 1st round draft pick should go to the OL situation, but after that we get the best safety we can. dballer
Alvin ... He did blow the coverage but it was a rookie mistake. And the speed on the recovery to nail Witten and almost make him Fumble out of the endzone made me say "wow" despite the blown coverage I was thinking the exact same thing. Rookie mistake but physical ability almost allowed him to make up for it.
ldysknzfn1
He had a great game! He kept Dez in check..he was a non factor..I was so glad to see him play like that! I hope it continues and he becomes just what we need back there!!

Thinking Skins
I'll compare this game by Breeland to the Cardinals game where he was going 1-1 against Fitzgerald and had a decent game, but made some critical mistakes and seemed to be a second late a few times, allowing a pass but getting the tackle. This time, he got in front of the passes and just said no.
Long n Left
Lots of praise being thrown around in here, and he certainly made some great plays. I'm pretty sure he blew the coverage when Witten had his wide open TD. Certainly not a perfect game from him, but very strong. Best since Champ? I sure hope so. I think Breeland is a case of a guy who likes playing physical and using his hands. All the way back to TC, there was talk about how he was gonna get a bunch of penalties for grabbing, etc. And he's had some of those. But once he figures out what he can get away with, and gets more comfortable starting every week, I think he can be a very nice fit for the good guys. Alvin ... He did blow the coverage but it was a rookie mistake. And the speed on the recovery to nail Witten and almost make him Fumble out of the endzone made me say "wow" despite the blown coverage Sorry, but when you've got not one, but two, linebackers jogging into coverage, I don't think that play can be pinned on Breeland. Looks like Robinson blew the assignment to me.

Long n Left
Tell me why Bashaud was put against Dez in the first place? Did they feel Terrance WIlliams was bigger threat? or is Breeland starting to surpass Amerson? Breeland plays the left, Amerson the right, they don't move to cover specific receivers. Cowgirls just decided to match Dez against Breeland more often.

fearlessNelms
Look I usaully don't start threads here in The Stadium. This could get me an NNT... I know there are discussions in other threads. But I don't care, he deserves his own thread tonight. Stripped fumble Stopped Muarry on that long run AND... Made two more stops on Dez on an island Made the last play of the game to seal the win... ALL!!! HAIL!!!! Bashaud Breeland!!!!! The kid was huge and all the plays you mention were obviously big ones. But his best play might have been the break-up he had on Romo's deep ball to Edwards down the middle of the field. The throw by Romo was money and if Breeland doesn't bust that one up it's a catch that goes for a huge gain and even most likely goes for six for the bad guys. I'm just speculating but maybe Amerson covered Williams (primarily) because he's the deep threat and Amerson is faster than Breeland.
repo_4
Breeland owned Dez last night. And wasn't afraid to let him know... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gov69NH70gM
WesB
I'm not saying his Darrell Green, but it was DG type of game for Breeland! Going 100% each play and shutting Dez down. Way to go kid!
asoccerplayer99
I hope his performance wasnt only due to the adrenaline of playing the massive underdog role in the best rivalry in the NFL in front of the entire world. If he and Amerson can play like that EVERY week, why couldnt our entire defense revolve around the casino blitz look every game? And how effing fun would it be to watch that defensive scheme every week? New team identity and everything!
Burgold
For a rookie, confidence is king. Now, there's fake confidence (bravado) and real confidence. One can lead to the other, but a game like yesterday's can do a lot for a young player. Just have to watch out for over inflation too!
Diesel Hog
This was a good week for former Clemson Tigers.... Breeland, Dwayne Allen (Colts -TE), Sammy Watkins, Martavis Bryant (WR - Steelers) all had great games this week.
Bonez3
Breeland = Br-Island But seriously, lets see this replicated a few times. I get it, they don't get any harder to cover than Dez. So, should have success going forward

One can lead to the other, but a game like yesterday's can do a lot for a young player. Just have to watch out for over inflation too! Its only fake confidence if the kid decides he's done enough. He has taken a step every game this season, I find it hard to believe he won't continue working to get better. Really this team is lacking swagger, especially without DHall. Heard Dexter Manley talking about it before the game, you just have to have a little swagger to be successful, especially on defense. A game like this, and the confidence it instills, can be extremely valuable.

So, should have success going forward Breeland had a hell of a game, but wasn't Breeland on Fitzgerald two weeks ago? And IMHO yes it can get harder then Dez, Calvin Johnson.
