TradeTheBeal!
280. Deep Purple - Stormbringer The band drops Ian Gillan and picks up a very young David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes and proceeds to make an utterly unique Metal/Soul/Disco hybrid. Widely panned in it's time but these days it sounds like a frighteningly talented band trying to do something not done before or since...and it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZFI7ISEuWw
HogNose
281. Israel "IZ" Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole - Facing Future (1993) Some of you might be familiar with the Hawaiian singer "IZ" who passed away due to his obesity, etc. in '97. This is a great album, and many have heard his "Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" which has been featured in movies and TV shows. The whole album is worth a listen; the guy had a great voice and so much soul. Every time I put this on I want to head back to Hawaii.

Run DMC - Raising Hell If you look at the Wikeipedia page for this, I think Chris Rock summed it up pretty good: "The first great rap album ever". It's got to be the the most influential. deejaydana
here's another U.K. product that rocked: 283. Chemical Brothers – Dig Your Own Hole (1997) They mixed elements of hip-hop, electronica, rock & trance and threw it all in a blender. The end product was original and incredibly infectious (and they continued on with more solid albums after this one). Great club music.

Ellis
284.) Blind Melon -- Soup (1995) This is easily the most under-rated band of the 90's who sadly lost their lead singer Shannon Hoon to drug-overdose. Their self-titled debut album is also a must listen but I prefer to list their sophomore effort Soup instead. Soup captured the band being far more experimental as artist and shows the beginning of them developing their own sound. It has great highlights and a good influence of New Orleans style--afterall, it was recorded in New Orleans. A standout track to me is the song "The Duke". It's incredibly beautiful and haunting. I love the entire arrangement and use of effects. The killer section is the bridge, where Shannon Hoon holds a note with his voice for the entire bridge and erupts back into the chorus. Begins at around minute 2:00 below. Just... stunning. He then pushes the capacity of his lungs again on the closing arrangement of the same song. This band stopped far too soon... there's no telling what they could have done together. They were coming up in a scene at the same time as Pearl Jam and Counting Crows and I firmly believe they would have continued to gain commercial success as they did. lgGeS9HfucQ

Bang
288 Johnny Winter And , Live A killer album, shows off Johnny's excellent blues playing, and the second guitarist onstage is Rick Derringer.. You can listen to this album again and again. It has some SMOKING guitar licks, as you'd expect from those two. Sometimes i listen to one, and sometimes the other, and sometimes both together. They perform so well together, you can allow either guitar to take the forefront of your listening and hear the song different ways. It never gets old. There's some really good heartfelt blues, some hard rocking with some Texas boogie, and some rockabilly thrown in for good measure. The original vinyl version was a double album,, the 6 live tracks, and a studio side that produced his great song "Prodigal Son". ~Bang

jobaga
265. The Decemberists - Picaresque (2005)A baroque folk band that uses accordions, melodicas, guitars and upright bass to create a sort of modern renaissance genre. Their songs often tell epic stories of historical fiction which fits their sound so damn well. Their sound is very unique, but if I had to make a comparison I'd say they are like Neutral Milk Hotel with better musicianship. love the Decemberists, but I think I would have picked 'Her Majesty' or 'The Hazards of Love' ---------- Post added February-21st-2012 at 08:13 PM ---------- 292 Neutral Milk Hotel-On Avery Island I know they are already represented on the list, but I don't see how it is possible to have too much Jeff Mangum in a music list... TradeTheBeal!
296. Heart - Dreamboat AnnieI looked and don't think I saw this one. There's a live show from 2009 or so with the Seattle symphony - **** the Seahawks - that plays on Palladia HD. They play Dreamboat Annie front to back and a couple of Zep songs, too. It's sweet! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bp-F8CZnvQY Sweet.
