Spaceman Spiff
Thanks to the hand-dandy similar threads feature, it looks like Sticksboi05 tried something similar back in 2008...however that was 4 years ago and a lot of good music has been made since. Let's try to come up with 500 albums that you must hear before you die. There's a similar list/book out there somewhere but The Tailgate has always been an excellent source for talking music. Rules: You can only submit one album at a time. After you make your submission, you can't make another one for 10 posts. I'll be editing this initial post for quick reference. Follow the formatting, make sure you number your entries. ---------- Post added February-16th-2012 at 04:52 PM ---------- 1. Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix His ultimate studio album. Sticksboi05
1. Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland (1968) 2. Talking Heads- Remain in Light (1980) 3. Oceansize - Effloresce (2003) 4. The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed (1969) A masterpiece from the shallow and dark Gimme Shelter (top 50 song ever) to You Can't Always Get What You Want and in between (Monkey Man, Midnight Rambler, Let It Bleed)
Forehead
1. Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland (1968)2. Talking Heads- Remain in Light (1980) 3. Oceansize - Effloresce (2003) 4. The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed (1969) 5. Beatles - Rubber Soul Any list should have about 7-8 Beatles albums on it, but I'll only nominate one for now. My pick for their best (non-compilation) is Rubber Soul, which is just about perfect. I had it narrowed down to Rubber Soul or Revolver, but Revolver has that idiotic Yellow Submarine song on it, so Rubber Soul it is.
Rocky21
OK. I'll play. Who's Next by The Who.
Predicto
5. The Clash - London Calling (1979). The album where talented musicians brought the angry energy of punk rock and intersected it with other genres of music. Spectacular.
thebluefood
Chicago Transit Authority-Chicago. Before they pussed out in the late 1970s, Chicago was a kick ass, fusion band that combined jazz, rock, blues and general brilliance. It's a daring double album with some tremendous tracks. Good call. I prefer to forget Peter Cetera ever joined. Though I admit falling for the poppy/sappy garbage they produced in the 80s. One of those deals where you hear it now and think, "Good God...I actually listened to this?" 8. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band -- The Beatles
