"We've been losing. What I want is for us to finish dead last."

Well I was sitting here thinking we could be going into the off-season a 2-3 win team ... then I saw our next 4 games.

We will lose to Tennessee. We will lose to Dallas. We will beat Minnesota and Tampa. Puts us at 3-7 with Griffin back in the fold ... which would be good for another 1-2 wins to finish 4-12 or 5-11 ... and in a year like this one, that would be good for a 5th to 8th pick. I don't know if I would want to go 4-0 in the next 5. It would create a false sense of hope. The way things are going, the division will be won by someone who is 13-3 or 12-4 ... and we already can'y get there ... and there's just no way I can see this team going 9-1 to get to the 10 wins we would need to make the playoffs.

So I'd rather just lose. Get a top pick. Go from there. Although a 6-10 or 7-9 season WOULD be progress, especially considering how horrid QB play has been. At this point anything positive would be nice ... but it would remind me of 2011 when we won some meaningless games and ended up picking 6th instead of 3rd and look where that got us?

Then again, we won't (or shouldn't) be in the market for a QB this off-season, so a Top 3 pick isn't as "necessary" ... as I would trust any Top 12 pick could bring in an impact OL or Secondary player.

I'm talking myself into all kinds of circles today. I don't know wtf I want. Thanks Redskins.

It is sobering when Zoony gives up after week 4. But he's right in alot of his post. This franchise needs an enema. It needs to be completely flushed out and rebuilt. I do think we will end up with a top 5 pick regardless. We just suck that bad. Our first string has some talent. But the depth is just pathetic. And we are injured right now.

About the only thing I dont agree with. Is signing Griffin long term. Pick up his 5th year option and make him earn his next contract. I for one dont want to see a 5 year deal for a player that cant stay on the field.

"""gives up after week 4""" why is being realistic "giving up" 3 and 13 last year 1 and 4 right now, do you or anybody else see  more than 2 or 3 more wins the rest of the way? facing the fact that this team sucks and has sucked for a while and probably will suck for a few yrs to come isnt giving up.. we are what we are,, a 5 or 6 win team at best.. we aint gonna win a division game this yr. that leaves only 3 games that we have any real chance of winning, minnesota, tampa bay and st.louis. so basically were looking at maybe 4 and 12 for the yr...at best...

We need to stop trying to go out and get players in Free Agency. We are not a couple of pieces away from a Superbowl so why keep avoiding developing young players? Sign who is a great locker room leader and player, and let the rest leave. Get compensatory picks, and draft.

Zoony and Lombardi's_kid_brother have it right. We need to stop trying to play Madden Football and develop players in house. Trade Alfred Morris (And I love Alfred Morris) and whoever else we can get picks for.

Somewhere in a drunken cigar and top shelf alcohol infused state of unconsciousness, Bruce Allen slipped Dan Synder something, whether it be a suggestion or something else remains a mystery.  That suggestion was the Redskins should emulate the 2003-2008 Tampa bay bucs.  A horribly run, awful team with nearly the same ties and coaching staff sans Jon Gruden complete with the same horrible draft choices.

Dan Snyder agreed.

Dan Snyder desperately needs to hire a GM who will tell him to go **** himself whenever necessary and stay out of all things football (IF, and only if DS still meddles).

I for one pin this whole mess on Bruce Allen.  The coaching staff was fired last season with the exception of those Tampa Bay associates and Jim Haslett somehow kept his job as well.  Jon Gruden was consulted and probably courted knowing this organization and he said no but my kid brother is a real grinder.

Thus the 2014 Redskins were borne.

And I just puked 15x while writing this because I hope it's just the sting of yet another horrible performance.

1-5.  As predicted.

Allen is a symptom not a cause. You are correct he is to blame but so, technically, are the players. Nobody can help that they suck

I dunno, maybe Snyder might grow enough as a human being at some point to hire someone who doesn't suck. But, what we will most likely get after Allen is another croney/yes man who is good at racquetball and looks good in a suit. Someone who will continue the culture of the cool lunch table at Redskins Park, where employees outside of the inner circle routinely get their lunch tray dumped on their way to sit down

So in that sense, Allen is to blame but not responsible.

These next five weeks are crucial.

Titans

At Cowboys

At Vikings

Bye

Bucs

It doesn't seem impossible to come out of that 2-2 or even 3-1 if a whole lot of things go our way. Nothing would screw things up more than being a 5 or 6-win team.

We'll definitely win the game after the Vikings and before the Bucs

Damn straight.  This franchise has been circling the drain for years.  We have an immature, insecure loser at the helm, and his decision making is and always has been suspect at best and devastating at worst.  As they say, Snyder is all hat and no cattle.  He's really not that bright--motivated and energetic yes...bright, no.  He's a poster boy for capitalism gone awry; a microcosm of the late 90s, early 2000s sentiment that the good times were here to stay indefinitely.  In short, he's a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

This is not a problem that will be fixed.  This is who Dan Snyder is: a deeply flawed, poor decision maker with zero emotional intelligence and no ability to build a coherent and successful culture that would be allowed to breathe and thrive.  In short, I'm more convinced than I've ever been that there is no hope for this franchise under his leadership.

He just doesn't get it.  Any of it.

Very true words. Snyder never actually made anything or really provided any services as a businessman. He just put up signs I guess? And really just played the buyout game and used his connections to gain wealth.

Dan Snyder capitalism is basically Goldman Sachs capitalism where you just shuffle assets around, disconnected from making stuff. You don't need to build an organization to shuffle assets around.

Maybe Dan will learn, or luck into someone who can do it for him. I'm not holding out hope.

I seriously doubt we'll get a true GM in here anytime soon.  Any established front office guy isn't going to tarnish his rep by coming into this clown show.  A young guy trying to make his name, may not have the backbone needed to stand up to Dan when he gets that itch to sign his annual flashy free agent.

So just what in the hell are we supposed to do?

you mean like Warren Buffett?  Without capitalism, we don't have the NFL, Madden Football, fantasy football..... We would have a government run league with predetermined champions.  No one was forced to do business with Dan as he made his millions, so he was doing lots of things right.  Back off your left-leaning, socialist style ideas that would destroy both the NFL and this country if allowed.

The only solution I can really see is someone recording something Snyder says ... ala Donald Sterling. Based on his reputation, I have GOT to think someone can catch him saying something terrible that forces him out as owner.

Then someone will come in, buy him out for like $3 billion ... change the name (just get it over with) to something bad ass and centered around our military ... and FINALLY set this franchise in the right direction.

so what about our redskins fight song? HTTR? all our fans LOVE our fight song...changing the name to something military would just ruin the fight song. unless you can come up with a better one.

Logic tells me that we're not going to have a good season and any wins is going to just be fools gold that screws us.

...but I won't lie that there's a little masocistic party of me going "Titans, Vikes, and Bucs are all legitimately winnable games. What happens if we actually win those and somehow, someway, surprise our Rival and are 5-5 two weeks after the bye".

We'd need to have medics on stand bye. The forum population will take a horrible rubber band bounce back into the positive that would just be ripe to have it crushed as we then go 0-6 to end the season.

Trade Alfred Morris (And I love Alfred Morris) and whoever else we can get picks for.

What exactly is the point of trading Alfred Morris?  Realistically what would we get back?  A fifth round pick?  At absolute best a fourth?  To me that seems like making a trade just to make a trade.  I don't see how that makes us a better team outside of an extremely lucky selection with whatever pick we get.  We're better served riding out an inexpensive rookie contract.

I think this tanking crap is crap. So to speak.

If we were going to tank for, say, Andrew Luck, then yeh I could see that. But is there someone at the top of the draft board we need that will turn the franchise around, so much more than say an 11th pick. Would we trade back to get extra picks? Would there be someone willing to or capable of doing that?

I would MUCH rather see RG3 come back, show improvement over the final stretch of the season, win 4 or 5 of the last 8 and go into the offseason feeling like we are heading in the right direction. At least show that we can get the offense rolling. Have Jay actually do a good coaching job and shore up some of the issues before we get to the offseason, so that we aren't sitting there like "oh **** we don't have the right pieces anywhere on this roster!"

Have Jay build some faith in his coaching ability so the players, (and fans and mediots) will be willing to buy into it the following year.

And it wouldn't be absolutely jaw droppingly shocking if this team ends up going, say 6-4 to end the year. A lot of young guys getting a lot of reps, a new head coach learning the ropes, a once bright star QB coming back from injury...
