2 hours after hearing the news, this is exactly what’s irking me. I also heard “he’s loyal, loves Campbell, and it’s not about the money”… if all is true, including the LAC thing, then why take so many interviews. Especially while your team is making a deep run, why deal with the distractions when you could simply say no upfront.

So many conflicting stories between being loyal or the money

I think calling another human a beta because of a decision they made for themselves is silly.

I don’t know him personally, and maybe he’s not a strong willed kind of dude, but that doesn’t mean he can’t lead or find success.

He chose to be the #2. Okay.

Next. Don’t need to spend my time calling the guy names or inferring he’s not a real man’s man.

Being a beta and not a man's man are different things.  I don't think its possible to be a football coach and not be a man's man.

Yeah the "beta" thing is pretty dumb to me as well. That said, I do fault Johnson for being super unprofessional. Calling off an interview while they're in a plane on their way to see you? Come on.

I don’t ever remember Atlanta being lauded for having any sort of strong permeating culture at the time. I’ve heard it about Quinn since last offseason when he also was allegedly an interview super star. But before that, never. Now he’s the best leader in the NFL? And he languished as a DC for the last three years? The star of that SB run was Kyle Shanahan’s offense and the team had a franchise QB the entire time, even if he faded with age by the end of Quinn’s tenure. So players ****ing love playing for this guy. That’s legitimately very cool. But what did it get him minus the Kyle Shanahan rocket ship? Why’s it going to be different this time?

Pretty much this. I'm not against retreads per se. But if you hire one, why do think it will be different?

In Quinn's case, he had a very good QB, an elite offensive coordinator, and still ended up pretty meh at best. It's hard to see him getting dealt a better hand than that.

Starting to feel like the commanders job isn’t so desirable. Candidates are like yeah nah, I’m going to keep my much less prestigious and significant lower paying job for now.

The facilities are still dog ****. There is going to be a really high % of roster turnover.

There are advantages… high pick, good cap, good GM, caring ownership. But the facilities are still a steaming pile of fecal matter and that stuff matters. Big time.

I’m not so sure how much less prestigious OC on a team that just went to a championship game is compared to taking over a dumpster fire roster.

Add a stadium half full of home team fans at best.

There’s this too. Lions play in a nice stadium to boot. FedEx is a literal ****hole.

Ehhh. Harris can promise better facilities and provide them in short order. That wouldnt concern most candidates I would think.

Fun fact! The guy that threw this shoe on the movie went on to kill his mother. Yes, real life, not movie.

I'll play.

This little fireworks show introducing  DeNiros " Aces High " in the movie Casino, went on a few years later to be sentenced to 12 years for attempted murder.
