I hate when I have time to watch that type of interview because he didn't say much besides "Biden (Democrats) have done a bad job on inflation, crime, schools and Republicans have common sense solutions...Republicans do a better job than Democrats."

He articulated no policy at all in the three whole minutes he was talking.

So, Youngkin "believes democracy is better when our Congress exercises it's oversight function". This reporter should have asked him about the J6 oversight committee & current GOP Congress members who have ignored subpoenas & failed to cooperate.

Youngkin doesn't mind spouting GOP bull**** until he's asked for his opinion on a specific topic - Biden impeachment - then he backpedals "I'm the governor of Virginia". No ****, Vestboy. Then why are you weighing in on this?

I'm so tired of seeing these reporters let these people off the hook.  "Republicans offer answers". Sure, Vestboy, we've seen the GOP answers the past 2-4 years.

Youngkin is popular among republicans.

people don’t seem to be enjoying trumps shenanigans

He's an empty suit propped up by bull**** GOP policy statements. His decision to stump for some of the far right candidates failed.

Some of the candidates Youngkin stumped for this year — such as Kari Lake in Arizona and Tudor Dixon in Michigan — have been especially enthusiastic in their embrace of the former president and his false claims.

Dixon lost to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), while Lake was narrowly trailing Democrat Katie Hobbs with about 70 percent of Arizona votes counted as of Wednesday evening.

University of Virginia political scientist Larry J. Sabato argues that Republican candidates’ unexpectedly weak showing in gubernatorial contests around the country also undercuts Youngkin’s status as a national figure.

“Youngkin hoped his extensive out-of-state travels would create a big buzz and real momentum for a presidential bid. But the GOP flopped, Youngkin is at zero percent in the presidential polls, and his bandwagon has barely moved,” Sabato said via email.

https://www.newsweek.com/maga-world-enraged-after-republican-va-lt-gov-dumps-trump-1758812

The MAGA world has erupted in outrage after Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears denounced former President Donald Trump following underwhelming GOP midterm performances.

Sears, a Republican who in 2020 served as national chair of the group Black Americans to Re-Elect President Trump, said during a Fox Business interview on Thursday that she will not back the former president if he follows through with his expected announcement to run for president in 2024. Sears called Trump "a liability" for Republicans and urged him to "step off the stage" before doing more damage in the next election.

"The voters have spoken and they have said that they want a different leader," said Sears. "And a true leader understands, when they have become a liability, a true leader understands that it's time to step off the stage. And the voters have given us that very clear message."

My coworker is running against the grilled cheese shop’s owner for a state senate seat. MFer is a piece of work. He posted a video of himself saying really dreadful stuff to the police that were shutting down his restaurant because he was selling booze to minors. Telling the police they are “part of the problem” while they are just doing their jobs. Of course, “supporting police” is one of his campaign planks. https://www.mattforva.com/issues

Those boot-lickers only support police when they're murdering or oppressing minorities.

List shows who provided input on Youngkin draft history standards

Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s administration produced draft history standards for Virginia’s K-12 schools with comments and suggestions from nine entities, according to the Department of Education, most of which are conservative-leaning organizations.

At the request of a member of the state Board of Education, state Superintendent Jillian Balow on Friday sent a list of all external people and organizations who have participated in the review and revision of the 2015 standards.

The draft history standards written largely under former Gov. Ralph Northam, which will be replaced by Youngkin administration standards, summoned hundreds of people and institutions.

Former President Ronald Reagan’s secretary of education, William Bennett, is among the individuals who contributed to the Youngkin draft along with University of Virginia professor James W. Ceaser, formerly a staff member at The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.

Other institutions that contributed to the Youngkin document are:

  • Michigan’s Hillsdale College, a conservative Christian college headed by Larry Arnn, who in his personal capacity chaired a committee established by then-President Donald Trump to support what he called "patriotic education.”
  • The National Association of Scholars, a conservative advocacy organization
  • The Civics Alliance, a group convened by the National Association of Scholars aiming to guide civics education
  • The Louisiana Department of Education
  • Thomas B. Fordham Institute, a conservative education policy think tank
  • American University, a private institution in Washington, D.C.

The Youngkin administration excluded the input of hundreds who worked on the Northam draft, including Edward Ayers, a historian, professor and former University of Richmond president. Ayers said the new draft “offers only the illusion of efficiency, burying ambiguity and confusion in the lives of young people rather than in accountable principle.”
