#21 to be retired this weekend...

Unfortunately I was there today.  First game in 4 years.  Used to go to every game.

The “ceremony”:  It was disorganized.  It was uninspiring.  It was rushed.  It smelled of something thrown together at the last minute.   The tribute video was something you find on YouTube.  The halftime ceremony shoehorned in 100 alums  before a cut to the “ceremony”.  It was disgraceful.

Go back and look at the tape.  Watch the faces of 21s family during the ceremony.

Reprehensible.

PS - flyover was at least 30 seconds late….PA announcer talking about a flyover in the past that hasn’t yet happened.  Super Cringe.

S show on all levels.

I went to a lot of those "homecoming" games in the past and my recollection was that the alumni intros were usually done pre game. Of course, that meant that hardly anyone would be there to see it.....but then again, at halftime, people usually filter out as well.

Probably would've been best to do the alumni thing pre game and then have Sean's thing as the focus at half. But this organization can't seem to get much right.

Lombardi's Kid Brother had a good analogy earlier in the thread comparing it to the Yankees when catcher Thurman Munson died in an airplane crash in the late 1970s.  If you read the Wiki on Munson, it sounded like the Yankees retired his number right away.

Sean's number should've been retired when they placed him in the Ring of Honor in 2008. By waiting this long, it invites questions like you and a lot of others ask.

Other NFL teams have done it when players died.  The Browns retired Ernie Davis' number shortly after he died of cancer.  The Vikings retired Corey Springer's number I think within a year after his death.  The Cards retired Pat Tillman's number.  The blueprint was there to just do it when they put Sean in the ring of honor.  But nah let's wait several years and then spring it on everyone out of the blue when we're in the middle of a PR crisis.

I stopped going because the team was terrible, fan experience was terrible and Fan Captains (I was one) were treated as throw aways.  I prioritized my kids/wife over watching a terrible team that gave two craps about fans.  My mother and sister continue to go games.  God bless them.  I went today because my sister couldn’t go - so my mother could go,   Hoping I don’t have to go back anytime soon.  It’s bad.

GV, as someone who's probably gone to a fair number of games over the years, would be curious as to what you think of the things that the organization gets wrong about the gameday experience, aside from the losing of course.  Where do you sit?

I blame the team, not the tasteless fans. They didn't even care enough to politely escort them away from the memorial.

I'm showing my age here but I 100% don't get how he was dancing on a #21. That or I'm so tired I don't see it.

But what I do see... I don't understand Tick Tock because if this is content that people enjoy I am at a loss.

Oh how I wish a deep out was called while he was doing that stupid ****. Not wishing paralysis or anything. Just a couple broken bones, that's all.

Ya. This is extremely disrespectful. Not going to throw a tantrum over it because it doesn’t help but this young man needs to be taught class. Quickly. For his sake.

They have lost what we were.  I have some amazing daughters that I've chosen to put ahead of this terrible team.  I'm rooting them on at soccer and academics.  The sad point is that when this generation dies out - our legacy won't care.  My rabid family fan base is done soon.  We won't renew.   It is dying out.

I only know Mahomes’ brother because I once saw one of his terrible dancing tik toks. Just judging off that clip and the one today, I seriously doubt that goofy MF knows who Sean Taylor was let alone anything about sports not directly related to his brother or dad.

Still someone with the team should have immediately moved the ppl standing on the logo on the field but that’s asking a lot of an incompetent organization.

This thing sounded like such a giant cluster.

And again, I'm going to ask.......why wasn't Sean Taylor's number retired within a year of his death?

LKB brought up Thurman Munson from the Yankees, but I just looked up another guy from an NFC East opponent who died tragically in an automobile accident some time ago.  Jerome Brown, All-Pro DT of the Eagles.

He died in the summer of 1992.  When did the Eagles retire his number? Opening home game of the 1992 season.

I have no words to describe the incompetence of this organization.
