Game day but we are still a week away; so until the actual game, it can be all things.

  • The Patriots had a stellar game plan vs the chargers in wk 13 last year. (Watch how they used Speed & Special Teams to beat their Defense in the YouTube link)
  • The chargers have a new Offensive Coordinator and their offensive starters did not play in the preseason.
  • Chargers trade out TE's this year, Hunter Henry is gone and add Jared Cook who had a down year in 2020 (30 receptions difference)
  • Last year LA Chargers offense started off very slow and barely got an week 1 win vs Cin on a missed FG.
  • Chargers lost multiple games last year from poor kicking game and just added a new kicker Tristan Vizcaino. (Big leg, little experience, plenty of misses between the 40's)
  • NFL QBs having a sophomore slump is a myth, however they tend to play the same as their rookie year (plenty of tape for JDR now).

Key Performance Indicators for a WFT win appear to be:

  • Playing fast, making the chargers pass rush pay with screens, quick passes, and slants.
  • Special Teams heads up (including not missing FGs)
  • Winning the Sack battle - Best Defense wins the game.

I view this as an Even (pick'em) game where the Home Team has the advantage with a packed stadium.

Likely comes down to whoever has the ball last.  Coin toss is important as it sets up the second half.

*** Wildcard is Fitzpatrick ==> He typically plays really really good in September on grass.  Check the stats here.

Don't forget this: Patrick Mahomes, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Hot Starts

The biggest story heading into Week 3 of the regular season is the meteoric rise of two very different quarterbacks: the 23-year-old Patrick Mahomes and the 35-year-old Ryan Fitzpatrick. Together, they have posted 18 touchdowns to just one interception through four combined games, numbers that are unprecedented in the modern era.

Ron thinks there's a good chance that Samuel will be ready for the Chargers game.

>>..."We're feeling really confident and he's had some really good days out there on the side," coach Ron Rivera said at the end of the week, added that his optimism regarding Samuel being available for NFL Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers is "very high...."<<

The groin muscles really need to be fully lubricated with warm blood before being called upon for quick responses.  The chances for re-injury are higher than other muscle complexes.  They attach at deeper points and it's difficult to activate the deepest muscle fibers without making quick demands.  Professional trainers and a fully compliant athlete are the two biggest factors.  The formula for proper rehab isn't a secret.  Most re-injuries are because one of those two guys made an error.
