Round 7 ‧ Pick 31

038355aa-13cf-4b61-ac52-292b69ad6dbe

6' 1"
193 lbs

Strengths
  • Top target for Zach Wilson, posting six games with 100-plus yards in 2020.
  • Possesses adequate athleticism.
  • Repeatable route movements to help disguise intentions.
  • Creates early leverage with wider inside release.
  • Capable footwork for quality whip routes.
  • Good track, adjust and focus talent as pass catcher.
  • Attacks throws with outstretched hands.
  • 73 percent of his catches went for first downs.
  • Will put in some work in the run game as a blocker.
Weaknesses
  • Needs runway to break off intermediate route breaks.
  • Downfield speed isn't much of a threat.
  • Will have NFL cornerbacks squatting on his routes.
  • Washington draped coverage over him in 2019.
  • Has to become more physical from stem to separate from tight man.
  • Lacks play strength to win catches in tight quarters.
  • Catchable throws outside frame can elude his grasp.

Somewhere in Tampa Bay Brady is chewing someone out for not drafting him.

When he’s basically Ryan Grant. He was drafted where Ryan Grant should have been drafted at least.

Dax's floor is Trey Quinn and his ceiling is Wes Welker. He's got those Scotty Miller hands, Brandon Stokely head, Austin Collie chest, and Nick Williams underratedness.

Also, Dak Prescott is going to get his feelings hurt when the MVP is announced, and he hears "Da" and it ends with an x instead of k.

If all your routes look the same from a body perspective, from the snap to when you come out of your stem, you can run a pedestrian forty and still get open if you're quick. I love me some receivers with good route disguise.

After further review, I think he makes the team. The 53. As the very last receiver on the depth chart. Unless  they decide to keep a small amount of receivers on this roster.

Realistically, it's not a stretch, at all, to believe a 7th Round pick can make this team as a WR.

If you consider the most recent years, even including Rivera's 2020 team, has been loaded with UN-drafted receivers who not only made the team, but played in the regular season :

Jeff Badet

Tony Brown

Isaiah Wright

Steven Sims

Cam Sims

Robert Foster

and perhaps more.

Yes, we're stronger now at the position, but there may be room for one underdog on this WR corps

Too funny!  I looked at Dax’s photo and the first thing I thought of was, “OMG. We drafted Opie from Mayberry!”

here's the thing, I was looking at Dax on that mock draft site, but I never would have thought he'd fall into the 7th.  This could be the steal of the draft!

Yes he needs some work on routes from what I've heard, but if he can help pull the top off some coverages that helps everyone else.

Dax only makes this team if we have injuries.

1. McLaurin

2. Samuel

3. Brown

4. Humphries

5. Cam Sims

6. AGG/Harmon/Wright/Milne/Steve Sims

I guess he could make it over Harmon and AGG if we keep 6.

Probably makes it over Wright.

Depends with Steve Sims.

I don't think Cam Sims makes the team (unless Brown craps the bed early).  His critical drops against Carolina and Tampa are big strikes against him.  He's got no burst.  He's a decent gunner on teams.  It'll be a dog-fight for those last two spots.
