88Comrade2000
The only way you beat the gop is to have more voters than them , in the right areas. Also, you have to overcome their suppression efforts. Odds are great the gop has Congress in 23 and 50-50 They have full power in 25. If Trump is heading things, the democracy is over. There will never be another election after 24. Edited May 28, 2021 by Rdskns2000

DCranon21
And I hope Nancy and the Dems go ahead with the select committee. Think they just stepped on a landmine. They will have subpoena power and whoever they subpoena better show up and if they don't appear, arrest their asses. Put the chosen Republicans who want the the truth and voted for this on the committee. Heads need to roll. 2
Fergasun
Wow... how a few months change things. Mitch basically turned 180 from his election certification stancd. The violence and intimidation worked. Give him a viking hat, some red body paint and a Confederate flag and he'll be good to go. GOP don't want to fall on their sword and tell the crazies to piss off. Sure they may make some pitiful gains via gerrymandering, and maybe I am in CA so insulated, but I don't see anyone outside of the church who supports this garbage. China
Dems push for House select committee after Senate Republicans derail bipartisan probe into January 6 attack House Democrats are actively considering mounting a probe of their own into the January 6 US Capitol attack, signaling they don't plan to let the issue go away in the aftermath of Senate Republicans derailing the creation of an outside commission to probe the deadly insurrection. If the House creates such a panel, it would give Democrats the power to issue subpoenas and schedule hearings and to drive an investigation into the causes of the attack and Trump's role behind it. And it would prompt a backlash from Republicans, who are already trying to paint such an effort as a partisan endeavor, despite their own role in scuttling a bipartisan outside panel composed of 10 commissioners equally divided between the two parties. Republicans on Friday said they recognized this was a likely next step. Senate Republicans who opposed the commission said that if Pelosi goes that route, it would be easier to contend that such a probe would be geared at helping Democrats in the 2022 midterm elections. Yet other Republicans said they were perplexed that their colleagues wouldn't endorse a bipartisan commission, arguing their party is ceding control to Democrats, who are almost certain to mount a headline-generating probe into everything that happened on January 6. "Without this commission, there will still be an investigation," said Sen. Bill Cassidy, a Louisiana Republican who voted with five other Senate Republicans to bring the measure forward for debate. "But it will be a House-select committee set up by Speaker Pelosi -- the nature of which will be dictated by Democrats and would stretch on for years." China
‘They Could Not Take Her Pride’: GOP Rep. Paul Gosar Celebrates Slain Capitol Attacker GOP Congressman Paul Gosar expressed support for a rioter who was shot by police while storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Ashli Babbitt — an Air Force veteran, Trump supporter and QAnon conspiracy theorist — was fatally shot as she tried to leap through a window inside the Capitol steps away from members of Congress. A Capitol Police officer was cleared of wrongdoing in the killing. The same day that Senate Republicans voted to block a commission to investigate the attack on the Capitol, Paul Gosar tweeted out a celebration of Babbitt that apparently quoted a U2 lyric about Martin Luther King Jr. Gosar has defended Babbitt before. In a hearing earlier this month, the Arizona Republican said she was “executed” and referred to the rioters as “peaceful patriots.” Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who voted to impeach Trump over the riot, responded: “Paul you’ve lost your mind.” Click on the link for the full article

At one point Guantanamo Bay held 700 inmates; only 40 remain, so there's plenty of capacity.
