The "Re-Opening" the Economy Thread

From the ground level, you are simply delusional if you think you can safely reopen your business right now. (Public business)

Its impossible to actually be safe, clean/sanitize, and social distance.  (This goes for essential businesses open right now, they're not clean/safe)

You need to be a professional  to clean/disinfect/sanitize properly, everyday, every shift, etc. A normal worker can't just grab a rag and sanitize/disinfect **** every day. (They go through the motions) So to think your waiter is going to properly  disinfect between each customer.... or clean the handles twice a day, or whatever.... they need to be a professional, with training/equipment etc.

Same with PPE, working behind a mask, working with rubber/latex gloves. This **** requires actual training.

This.  People are delusional if they believe businesses, including those deemed essential, are clean/safe.  It's impossible to protect against an airborne virus that could be passed throughout the day with individuals of all types going in and out of that location.  People are also delusional if they believe businesses that are currently open are following everything to a "t."  A missed wipe down here, 11 guests instead of 10, etc etc.  Once all businesses are opened, we will be re-opening Pandora's Box.

Its not possible to be 100% safe until a vaccine is out and even then, people will get sick.

The goal should be to continue trying to reduce the load on hospitals as much as possible, so for those that do get badly sick they can be treated. For most people corona will still just be a really bad flu and they'll be alright.

We just have to avoid massive amounts of people all getting hit with it at once and overwhelming our health care system. If that means we remain shut down because people can't seem to follow social distancing rules, then so be it.

This is where Trump needs to be more like a dad, than a cheerleader.  It's his folks that are hellbent on re-opening as soon as possible and they want nothing to do with distancing, wearing masks, etc.  If he would have just come out strong about how vital it is to continue social distancing, wearing PPE, etc. in order to get things open, things would be different.  But no, he's talking about what great people the protesters are as they don't follow any of the guidelines he put forth.

Seriously?  He's too vain and stupid.  The White House rules say everyone needs to wear a mask except Trump, because he's too goddamn vain.  I truly hope he gets it, and has respiratory symptoms so bad he can't talk.

Oh, me too.  He deserves to get it.

I'm just saying that the only way to have any sort of consistency and logic around re-opening requires leadership to stand behind what they put out there and let people know the ramifications of not doing so.

Also, whenever experts tell Trump that he should advocate for the reasonable course of action, he does the opposite because he's hardwired to be an asshole at all times.

Don't try to give Trump a pass, this is all on him. He could have done things differently to try and reduce the impact of the virus on We the People, but no, he didn't. All he's concerned about is the election and his reputation. He's a narcissist who only thinks of himself. I doubt that he even gives much consideration to Ivanka.

If Trump's position had been to wave the flag, and make it every American's patriotic duty to do what it takes to withstand this enemy, he'd have positive approval numbers (for the first time in his Presidency), and be guaranteed reelection.

And a lot less people would be dead.

But that would have required leadership.

Instead, his first response was the same as it has been for every thing in his entire administration:  Lie his ass off, and look for opportunities for personal profit.

And it's never changed.

I agree 100%.

That's the stance I've taken against every Trumpist who swears this is all about ruining him for re-election.  Had he actually stepped up and been a real leader through this, he would have turned a lot of people - especially when his competition is Biden.  But no, he has to be himself and we get what we've got.

The ironic thing is its his supporters that are gathering in groups that are likely to get the virus and could possibly die, causing him to lose votes. You would think from that perspective he'd selfishly want them to follow guidelines, but as we know he ain't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed to begin with...

Out of all the crazy **** he'd done before this, I GUARANTEE you his approval no's would've soared if he simply chose this moment, to be Presidential. People are fickle that way

Thats what let's me know that both his and the GOP's insanity/moral depravity is just a runaway train at this point.

Her are a couple of chucklehead assholes that apparently disagree:

Caught on camera: Fight breaks out at Target after customers refuse to wear facial covering

LOS ANGELES - Two men, who refused to wear a facial covering, have been arrested after getting in a fight with security guards at a Target in Van Nuys earlier this month, the Los Angeles Police Department said Monday.

FOX 11 was first to obtain surveillance footage provided by the LAPD of the fight that occurred May 1 at a Target store located in the 5700 block of Sepulveda Boulevard.

Security cameras captured the moment three security guards escorted two men out of the store for refusing to wear a face covering. As they were being escorted out, one of the suspects turned around, shoved one of the guards, and hit him the face.

An innocent patron also attempted to stop the fight and both men got away.

One of the victims is recovering at a local hospital and suffered a broken arm, police said.

The two suspects, later identified as Phillip Hamilton, 31, and Paul Hamilton, 29, were arrested later that day for felony battery.
