**** universal healthcare.  I want choices and not the government making them for me.

20 years on and it’s totally shocking that the “tax the crap out of you so that a homeless tweaker can get the same healthcare as your mom” slogan hasn’t caught on.

And for people like you there will be private options, just like there is everywhere in the world.

Ah, the people like me card is pulled.  I work in the healthcare industry, universal healthcare would eliminate my job along with millions of others.  And I also prefer to make a choice on which doctor I see, which office I decide to go to, etc.  The government can't get Medicare or the VA right, both are a ****ing joke and you want them telling you where to go for healthcare and trust them making it as great as the options you have now?

Take your own advice, move somewhere there is socialism and free government healthcare.

Today you pay for your healthcare insurance and how much you pay determines the providers you have access to. Not every provider is in your network.

In a system with universal coverage many will still choose to pay a higher cost because they want access to providers who are not participating in the universal coverage scheme.

They’ve stayed with the all American “we’ll make you better, and all it will cost you is absolutely everything” instead.

I gotta support Taze here.  Having spent the majority of my life at the hands of government-run health care, I would not recommend it.

I'd rather have the option to see what provider is in my network or an out-of-network provider if I choose to do so.  And while not every provider/facility is in-network with my plan, the vast majority are as they are with most of the national payers (BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, UHC, etc.).  I don't trust the government to provide me with a plethora of options that I have now, or to not completely screw it up like they have with Medicare and the VA.

Honestly, they need to fix what they broke with Medicare and the VA before even considering universal healthcare.  And I'll go ahead and say this, just because I'm against universal healthcare, doesn't mean I don't want people to have affordable options and access to medical care, I 100% do.  I would also like to see something done about the insane cost of healthcare in general (cost of procedures, medication, etc.).  Like I said, fix what is broken first.

You may have made the same mistake I did and not realized what thread this is but this should be moved to a more appropriate thread.  It isn’t RTT material.
