Wait til the CNN special where they're stacking dead bodies outside. Don't know why always have to wait until the worst possible moment

I don't think it's safe to do that.  You will probably see people cremated.

There are people arguing that we are completely overreacting... that a lot, lot, lot more people have had Coronavirus than we realize. That its spreading because people don't wash hands..

This is contrasted with many of the dire Twitter stories of healthy, young people in ICU...and so many other countries experencr.

Are they the same people who, two weeks ago, were loudly announcing that we were overreacting, because look how few people were infected/dying?

Until we have wide spread serological testing, it’s fair to say these people are full of **** because we have no good data on how widespread the pandemic actually is.

And I do think it’s possible that more people have been infected than we think. The behavior of this virus is very odd and I think we may find that some interesting genetics in play in the coming years as to why a lot of cases were asymptomatic yet so many were severe.

Also the whole point of this lockdown is so we can get through the first wave of case spikes and be prepared to dampen a very likely second wave. But to do that we really need the whole country to be testing and tracing by the end of May. Otherwise, this a never ending cycle until a vaccine is found and distributed which is a long way off.

All the data shows that testing is ramping up in some parts of the country but many others are still lagging behind.

We know:

1)  How many Americans have been killed by this virus, so far.

2)  How much the stock market has dropped.

3)  Which one you think is more important.

There certainly are enough experts saying different things...

Permanently?  Or people firing employees because they don't want to  pay them while shut down?

(And if they're permanent job losses, then that kinda shoots down the "get back to normal in a few weeks" talking point, doesn't it?)

There are policies you can enact to make sure that people losing jobs right now are able to stay on their feet (like the bill passed last night). Because this isn't driven by any underlying issues in the economy itself, like 2008 was, we know that when things open up, a lot of these people will return to work. Many of them can probably find work right now with the amount of hiring happening in the home delivery sector.

There is no healthy economy as long as a virus that has no anti-virals or vaccines working against it is circulating freely in the public.

All oil production is unsustainable.  It's a finite resource.

However, all of the oil that was in the ground, right now?  It'll be there a year from now, too.  (Unless we sell it, now.)
