NYT - Redskins Cheerleaders Describe Trip to Costa Rica that Crossed the Line

I actually don’t know who is responsible for this and I’m not even sure it matters. Was this even a little bit surprising to anyone that has followed this team for the last 25 years?

There is not a single good reason for anyone to be a fan of this team. It’s not enough we have to be pathetic and humiliating losers on the field, we also have to be disgusting pieces of trash off it.

JKC is probably rolling over in his grave right now.

Clearly, this is not the same team I started rooting for when I first arrived 40 years ago.  Anyone who can still justify spending money on this organization needs to have his/her head examined.

Good luck filling FedEx Field, Danny Boy.

It's rather clear that I have a very low opinion for Bruce Allen, but it's kind of hard to pin this type of stuff on him.  I'm actually not shocked by this stuff at all.  I'd imagine the recollection of events as described in the article is probably more tame than what really went down.  I just don't think this is the type of thing you can pin on Bruce.  Noted though that the tides turned for the Skins cheerleaders when Dan bought the team.

You know what?  **** it, you're absolutely right.  This is Dan's **** along with Bruce's.

Never, ever make a vulnerable person feel obligated to do anything. Ever. It's not that effing hard. Never pressure a young woman to do anything that she doesn't absolutely want to do and would do without your input. Ever. THIS IS NOT THAT HARD!!

I think this one's probably all Dan, personally. Not that I wouldn't mind Bruce being a sacrificial offering. But I'd be happier if it brought down the Eye of Sauron himself, lol. Didn't some of us say awhile back that the only way Dan would ever be gone is if he got caught up in some sort of scandal like this? Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Believe me, there is nothing I'd relish more in than Dan being forced to sell the team as a result of actions like this.

I just think that's some extreme wishful thinking.  Unless it comes out that sex was forced or implied as part of this ordeal, I just can't see this being anything more than another crap stain on the dirty drawers that is Dan Snyder's reign as owner of this team.

****ing Bruce "we're sinning off the field" Allen has even managed to **** up a cheerleader photoshoot.

I highly doubt he had anything to do with the planning, but he sure as **** knew that there would be unaffiliated men on the trip.  And that could only lead to one thing.

I love watching Football, but the NFL continues to do things to make me not like them nor justify supporting them. I don't care which team's cheerleaders this happened to, the truth needs to come out and any owner, including this team's, needs to be forced to sell the team if they had knowledge of this and helped keep it quiet.

This is absolutely deplorable.

I can't get into it now because I'm seething and will get myself banned, but if Bruce isn't gone after this (I would hold him responsible if not Dan), then I'd seriously have to consider backing away from this team.  This is worse than Rapistberger-type **** given the pervasiveness, secrecy, and extent of it.

Agree with most of this but no way is this worse than what Rapistburger did in Georgia.  The full report from the DA made it absolutely clear it was rape with the complicity of local law enforcement and in almost any other state he would have had more than enough to go to trial but Georgia happens to have some seriously backasswards laws when it comes to these kinds of things.  I have never watched a ****sburg game since when I did not hope that somebody would put that fat sack of **** in a wheelchair for life.

What else will we be forced to justify and/or rationalize in an effort to maintain our desire for rooting for Dan/his top execs?

Can’t wait to find out what’s next!

A bunch of articles in BHRBN are already talking about it, like ESPN, Richmond Time Dispatch (they even copied the full article from NYT), the Washington Times. They are all into the story which will probably go a little bit further than expected.

I'm not really surprised that this still happens nowadays. I would be even less surprised if that happened in some eastern europe country... But it seems Harvey Weinstein is not that far away from the NFL... Kinda find it disgusting, removing passport, forcing topless shooting, escorting... That looks bad, real bad.

Can't blame Bruce? Can't blame Dan?

They are both:

Team President

Owner

If they don't know what's going on, that doesn't look good on them. It might be even worse...

I have a hard time believing:

- They do not know about this in any way.

- The WRC Captains allowed this without being forced in any way.

- They didn't tried to hide it because it does makes the team look real bad and it does make you suite ticket holders look even more bad!

- That those same suite holders asked Bruce and Dan if that could be doable. That kind of stuff comes from the other way, like "hey guys, see, buy another year we're showing you tits!"

Hopefully, reactions I see around here are appeasing me, because damn... I just can't stand that. And it's not because that may, and probably do, happen on other teams that you have the right to do it yourself.

Was Fred Smoot the director?

Darkest joke I've seen yet, but got to admit it made me laugh.

I can't imagine that this won't end in someone's head rolling. The higher up the head, the better.

It just amazes me that a little over 10 years ago the straightest straight arrow in the entire league, Joe Gibbs, retired. How did this team become such a cesspool off the field, let alone on?

The reaction to this has been equally as troubling. Putting out a "nothing to see here" statement and then trotting out a couple of cheerleader hostages to announce that everything is fine couldn't be a more wrongheaded way to approach this. If the team cared, and had a clue, the correct response is along the lines of "We are highly troubled by any suggestion anyone in the Redskin family might have been treated with anything less than extreme respect. We vow to investigate, get to the bottom of this and come to a resolution that everyone finds satisfactory. Make no mistake, if anyone working for us mistreated any of our cheerleaders, they will be dismissed, and if necessary, referred to the authorities immediately."

But Snyder and Co. are too pathetic to do the right thing. Hopefully, this will be the end of him. And not just because I have wanted him gone for the football side of things.

I have an idea.

get rid of cheerleaders.

Who needs them? They don't lead cheers, they barely know what is going on in the game. They aren't supposed to follow the game, they are there to titillate, and that's it.

So, i am sure i am going to get soundly scolded, but honestly, they are hired to be tits and ass. This incident crossed the line, but the fact is, they didn't have to go very far to get to the line in the first place. Yes, they should not be expected to be topless in front of people paying for the privilege,  they are expected to wear small strips of team colored cloth on their tops and do it for people paying for the show in the stadium.

Their entire job is to dance extremely provocatively in tiny little outfits during timeouts. Bent over shoving their asses around, cleavage on full display. Their job is to be objectified. This site has featured more than enough of those artsy taint photos of them during warmups, you know,,  the square up the ass shot so prized by the folks hollering foul today. (I'd say "bonus for camel-toe" but most of them wear shorts that accent it.,, so no skill in getting that in a photo.) Thanks to lots of Redskins fans on twitter, we got a lot of photos and videos of the recent competitions to make the 2018 squad. Basically, wear as little as possible, and dance stripper dances without actually stripping and touching themselves.

i have never liked the cheerleaders. They don't do a cheerleader's job. If i had a dollar for every time i saw a replay of a guy scoring on the Redskins while the cheerleader behinds him grins and jumps around in slow motion like a bubblehead that isn't paying attention, I'd be able to buy a stake in the team.

I don't need sex with my football, and i always get a totally involuntary look of WTF on my face when people do.

Get rid of them. And there's no more chance for softcore prostituting of the cheerleaders by the scumbags who run the team.

that said, these women should sue the **** out of the Redskins, and if the NFL made Dan Snyder sell the team for acting like a pimp, i would be very very happy, and i would wish for all those dollars I'd have collected when ditzy cheerleaders cheered while some WR scored on us with 3 seconds left to win the game.

Rarely do I think that folks from the internet could actually do the jobs of the professionals we critique, but I’m convinced you’d easily perform at a higher level than that of the folks in Ashburn that historically make things worse when they make a statement.

This may sound insensitive,But whats the big deal? it's not like they were forced to have sex with someone or do something against there will..Don't they make like $100 dollars a game or something? If you don't want to do what they ask you to do then quit,Its not like it is some high paying job..They already show all there goods anyways

In fairness, I have a triple-digit IQ and a couple of years of Community College. It's really not fair to expect a $3 billion organization to have access to that level of talent.

I don’t disagree with the premise that ultimately the cheerleaders are there for eye candy only.  I gather they know that going in.

But it’s a really bad look to make them escort the big wigs they count on to buy suites.

You thought 'they don't get paid much, so who cares if they're treated like sex slaves?' would come across as insensitive? How so?

If snyder isnt forced to sell after this, its over for me. I have been teetering on the edge of fandom for this team because i like Gruden and the players, but i cannot wear Redskins gear if nothing is done here.

****ing scumbag organization.
