Come on. He was white and we haven't yet seen his Google history to determine if he did any searches on Islam.

I'm just waiting for the excuses..."good kid..."  "into chemistry..." blah blah blah

*edit*

In thinking about it....even with the lack of social media, do any of you remember how the DC sniper dominated the news coverage (nationally) for the 3 weeks that the terror was going on?

It's insane that these bombings had been going on for the same amount of time, and we have advances in the way we get information, but yet, these terroristic acts took a backseat to other news stories being pushed to the forefront.

The carnage this country goes through in a 1-month span is absolutely unacceptable, especially for a "first-word country". Shootings, bombings, opiod overdoses, this list goes but I don't have hours to type.

Only in America. Things need to change.

Irrespective of race, Texas is one of those ****hole countries the President warned us about. We need the wall to be on the northern Texas border, not the southern one.

This story isn't getting enough attention.  This had been going on for 3 weeks, but IMO, hardly made a blip in national news coverage.  If it wasn't for social media, I wouldn't be too aware of what was going on.

This man WAS a terrorist.

It’s been the lead story on virtually every major news outlet.  So I’m not sure what your beef is.

And just to put it out there, the race of the DC snipers was unknown during the spree.  Just in case you are insinuating that’s a factor in your criticism of coverage.

I think this story has been covered reasonably well.  Its hard for even a serial bomber terrorist to dominate news coverage in an era when there are multiple porn stars discussing trysts with a sitting president who is congratulating foreign dictators on sham elections while school shootings are happening weekly.

There has been talk of news media covering this stuff less, so as to not encourage copy cats or give notoriety to the perpetrator. I wonder if this had something to do with that approach.

I thought this became a huge story after the 3rd bomb, when it became clear that it was a serial bomber.

It became bigger, but I don't recall it being as big as DC Sniper. But that could be bias because I was in the DC area when that happened. I was on the Rockville Metro platform when the first shooting happened. Now I don't have cable and live 2000 miles away.

Guess it depends on where you are and how you get news as to how much coverage it was getting. It's been all over the internet as far as I saw, but kind of took a back seat to Cambridge Analytica, Stormy Daniels, Trump congratulating Putin etc. on CNN. Still, they did cover it.

just in case? :ols:

they're outright citing it as their reason.

omg he's white so no one cared  no one cared when the victims were black

I think it's locality bias.  I was in DC as well (working at a golf course with lots of great sight lines).  I'm sure this was a big ****ing deal to people living in Austin.

This 100% hasn't been the lead story on virtually every news outlet.  This coverage pales in comparison to what we saw w/ the DC sniper.  Also, how stupid do you think I am?  Of course I know the Sniper's race wasn't identified until AFTER he was apprehended.  Never once mentioned race being a factor in why I feel as though things have been quiet (outside of social media) regarding the coverage.

Could be, but for a reign of terror, coverage was a bit ho-hum, IMO.

Also, Charles Moose became a bit of a celebrity in the aftermath of the killings/capture.  Even got a book deal out of it.  It was a HUGE story when everything was going on.

Just checked...

CNN. Top Story.

Fox News. Top Story.

USA Today. Top Story.

Washington Post.  Top Story.

New York Times.  Top Story.

Austin Statesman. Top Story.

Des Moines Register. Top Story.

Peoria Statesman.  Not Top Story.

So you are correct if you live in Peoria, Illinois.

Do you live in the DC area?  Did you live in the DC area during the DC sniper incident?  That was certainly wall-to-wall coverage, as I recall.  But I live here, so that may have colored how I viewed the coverage.  I bet the coverage in Austin mirrors how the DC sniper case was covered here.

I just don't get the seeming knee-jerk criticism of the press, no matter what they do.  They've reported from scenes of the bombing.  They released surveillance images of the guy at the FedEx facility.  Reporters are standing next to police tape where the guy blew himself up.  They are besieging the suspect's neighborhood.

There are plenty of opportunites to criticize the national press without manufacturing reasons to do so.

Oh I definitly think the race of the first few people blown to bits had something to do with it. You can pretend all you want but if this dude was blowing up white women like Katie....beautiful, white, smart.....so much to live for; the president if no one else would have tweeted about it and that's all we need for news these days.

Sorry some if you seem to think media bias is some new thing. Been this way since I can remember.

It was news here from the start, the color of the first few victims ensured it.
