If you have one in your ballot who is at least trying to distance themselves from Trump and is a moderate, i don't see a problem with voting for them. The key is getting rid of the bad ones, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater, cut off your nose to spite your face. Many of the so called GOP moderates like Susan Collins, Jeff Flake, etc.. are going along with whatever the GOP does. They talk a good game but when push comes to shove; they still go along with the GOP corruption. No, any good GOPer left, needs to break away from the party for good. The GOP literally needs to be completely wiped from power. All of them. The good ones say, this isn't my GOP and I am leaving. There is no saving the GOP. That line has already been crossed. GOP isn't going to split and risk irrelevancy while the public decides which conservative party to support. You can't look at what Flake did the other day walking over and pulling that guy outside and say all of them are hopeless. people underestimate how many people vote republican because they are just too conservative to vote democrat. I've been waiting for a Republican to vote for for a long time, closest i came to was Scott Rigel, stopped running right before i decided i would. This isn't jus a Trump problem, its an ideology differantion that we haven't gotten to point of talking about yet because it's too us vs them right now. One issue, any issue, where I could say that some imaginary decent person might be willing to tolerate the slime that is the GOP, because he thought that one issue justified it. But nope. Fiscal Conservatism is something I agree on, though they don't talk about it anymore and i didn't agree with their method if going about it. Not all of them are like McConnel, and believe they have to drop this social conservative culture war nonsense. There's a couple things i can think of i agree with, but cutting taxes into trillion dollar deficits and shrinking federal agencies are deal killers for me in regards to voting for them. I've said before you'll get better conservatives with campaign finance reform. They shouldnt feel like they could lose koch brothers support for reaching across the aisle for compromises. I’ll admit to kind of liking Larry Hogan and hoping his ilk could reassert power in the GOP. I don’t actually think it will happen tho, and will obviously be voting staight Dem in November (i dont live in MD). Quote The National Rifle Association (NRA) withdrew its support from Maryland Gov. gbear Posted September 30, 2018 Share Posted September 30, 2018 I have to admit I like a lot of hogan's gov in MD, but I have to say that against a Republican gov during the drawing of Congressional districts (but state legislature likely still Dam and they have role too) and his terrible school schedules where we give up all vacations to get a longer summer. I dont know many parents who like that, and it sucks for us. I want to support a liberal republican, and I voted cor him last time. I just dont know whether I will again. But then I looked a little closer and there appear to be some snubs. For instance, he endorsed 3 people in Virginia, Wexton, Spanberger and Luria, all of whom are in close races. I don't think she understand democratic socialism enough to be getting an endorsement from someone who's against it, especially since she is running unopposed. He's a winner. 2. He knows that means he can have a big part in who gets the next nomination. 3. He knows that nominating a socialist will probably get Trump re-elected, but there's definitely going to be a heavy push for "purity" from the left. 4. He knows that if he DOESN'T endorse leftist and socialist candidates in districts where they are popular, he looks biased against them, reducing his ability to influence that wing of the party against #3s self immolation.
