2024 is going to be interesting race because assuming Trump is not running, I think we are going to see a big turnover to the younger generation of GOP candidates, the Tom Cotton/Dan Crenshaws of the party.  Not that the prospect of them as President is much better, but I hope the Democrats are ready and willing to turn the party over to the newer generation as well.  Kamala Harris running would be a sign.

I'm curious what effect having a sane POTUS who conducts himself with dignity and doesn't make a mockery of the office will have over the next 3+ years. This country has pretty much become numb to how insane and unfit Trump is because we're inundated by him every single day. Could be that having Joe in office will wake some people from that trance and things that Trump and/or his cohorts are able to get away with now will become passé again. Sort of like someone having to eat spinach flavored ice cream for years, getting used to it, and then suddenly getting a scoop of chocolate and realizing how they didn't appreciate just how goddamn good chocolate ice cream is.

GSA official blocking Biden's transition appears to privately plan post-Trump career

The top General Services Administration official who's blocking President-elect Joe Biden's transition team from accessing government resources ahead of his inauguration appears to be looking for a new job, according to a message obtained by ABC News.

Emily Murphy, head of the GSA, recently sent that message to an associate inquiring about employment opportunities in 2021, a move that some in Washington interpreted as at least tacitly acknowledging that the current administration soon will be gone.

Murphy has the power to decide -- or "ascertain" -- when election results are evident enough to trigger a transition of power, allowing the winning team access to career staff at federal agencies and internal government information including national security matters and plans for administering a COVID-19 vaccine.

Donald Trump appointed Murphy in 2017, and she's so far refused to certify Biden as the election's winner as Trump attempts to overturn the election result in court.

A White House spokesperson referred ABC News to the GSA when reached for comment.

A GSA spokesperson denied the account that Murphy was actively looking for a job, but noted that it wouldn't be unusual for someone in government, especially a political appointee, to consider future opportunities.

Dude, Republicans believe Obama left the USA in a deep depression, 3 world wars, 4 famines, and in Islamic rule.... with dead babies in the streets.... and Christmas eradicated.

You think a Biden presidency isn’t going to be distorted?

Right. This was the point I was trying to make in the "How to fix the Democratic Party" thread.   Of course as a party they have their flaws and should work on their messaging, but what does that matter when 50% of the country is going to learn everything they think they need to know about the Democrats from Fox, OANN, NEwsmax, Breitbart, etc etc......how do the Democrats penetrate THAT machine? That is the question.

The party desperately needs to turn over the speaker's gavel to the next generation. The refusal of the old Dems to pass the baton in Congress is problematic.

Some of the most annoying people this past four years have been the ones saying: "We're not a democracy. America is a Constitutional Republic."

Sure, you're technically correct but who gives a rats ass. Like it has any bearing on the conversation. Go the **** back to mulching my flower beds, ****.

A big function of the right wing media machine has been conditioning people.  Programming them with easy to recite slogans.

It doesn't matter if the slogan actually doesn't make sense.  The slogan's job isn't to serve as part of a logically constructed proof if a logically constructed thesis.  It's purpose is to make the speaker think that he has successfully countered the fact he was just confronted with.

The purpose of "all lives matter" is simply to magically make "black lives matter" go away.

"No collusion" is a magic spell that makes "the top three people in the Trump campaign, cleared space on their schedule so they could meet with a representative of the Russian government, for the purpose of discussing how the Russian government can help our campaign" simply not exist any more.

"My 401K", recited by people who mostly don't even know what a 401K is, magically gets rid of the fact that Trump and the GOP doubled the federal deficit, so that they couls stimulate the economy into adding jobs 20% slower than it was adding them before he took office.

"Socialism" simply counters any government action that will make things better for citizens.

When you're busy passing constitutional amendments making it illegal for the government to treat gays the same as everybody else, keep reciting "It's a choice".  The fact that your magic slogan is simply short for "It's a choice, therefore I want to amend my constitution for the specific purpose of mandating discrimination."?  "That's not the logic you're looking for."

Right now, they're working on programming people that "religious freedom", if recited, will grant immunity from antidiscrimination laws.
