So Trump stands on an international stage and in front of the entire world disparages the United States intelligence community, denies what virtually every American with half a brain realizes is true, and floats an unfounded theory that it was other countries and people that meddled in the election. In front of the entire world.

Don't forget also trashing a former POTUS and his direct predecessor while on foreign soil. This asshole is actually quite adept at finding new depths to plumb and new ways to make this entire country look worse every day.

So this is an interesting and chilling little sidelight to the Russia story.  Remember when Ran Rather and CBS News ran a story about George W. Bush's National Guard service as a way to skirt the Vietnam War using documents anonymously sent to the news agency?  It turned out those documents were forged.  It ended Dan Rather's career at CBS, and it essentially ended any further media exploration as to the validity of the National Guard story.

 

It looks like someone tried to "Dan Rather" Rachel Maddow and MSNBC, by sending a document, purportedly from the NSA, that names a specific person in the Trump campaign as colluding with the Russians during the election. 

 

MSNBC didn't take the bait.

Yeah, watched that yesterday - Maddox has her issues, but she presents info pretty well and does a good job putting things into historical context.  it was (of course) presented maybe a bit too dramatically, but that's some messed up stuff.  

 

I dont know the fix for it, but there needs to be a news option that people can generally trust - the erosion of trust in the media is turning into an extremely dangerous result for this country (and others).
