DRSmith
If the Skins brought him back as a dc would people be excited or hate it?
theTruthTeller
I can only imagine the reaction to Meriweather's hits with Williams as DC.
skinfan2k
Hell yeah.  These guys played hard under him and the scheme was good as it was with the trash it had.
Wyndorf25
Id be fine with it. He is a great defensive mind and despite what you think of his tactics, players play hard for him. This defense needs a change at the top and we could do a whole lot worse than Gregg Williams.

DRSmith
Has he ran a 3-4 defence?

Gibbs Hog Heaven
If Shanahan's here, Haslett will be here. Quote me on that and book it!  So it's all moot discussion. FWIW, I'd rather Spanois or Crennel as the next DC.  Hail.
The Robert Griffin Experience
Well, it'd be an adjustment for sure. The main issue is that while Orakpo/Cofield/Jenkins/Kerrigan looks like a nice DL on paper, you have to reshape everyone physically for the position (Cofield has to lose weight, Rak and Kerrigan have to hit the weights). Also we have NO linebackers unless Rob Jackson can play strongside. Riley is gone (the 4-3 is even more reliant on having good coverage LBs, and Riley sucks at coverage), Fletcher is gone or retired. Also the secondary would be a work in progress. Â The upside is that there is a LOT of 4-3 talent in FA, and you can sign some stop gaps. However, the depth wouldn't be there and barring a full out blitz in FA, you may have to neglect the offense a bit to fix a GW defense. But hey, we could roll with our guys and it could work - GW's made chicken salad from chicken **** before.
Idaho fan
At this point who cares who our DC is.. Ill take anyone who can improve the play. Â We were spoiled with a top 10 Defense for a few years - Id love to be spoiled like that again.
planter
Well, it'd be an adjustment for sure. Or if we stay 3-4 - in the ideal world - move Colfield to DE and bring in a prototype NT . Agree we need LBs and a large press CB!
The Robert Griffin Experience
Yeah, this is on the assumption GW can't coach a 3-4 and has to move us back to 4-3, since this is a hypothetical. In terms of sheer talent, it'll be the best front he's worked with since he was coaching Kearse and Carter down in Tennessee.
markmills67
Why not give Williams the HC job, he probably deserves another shot at the big job.
Wyvern
Gregg Williams is a quality DC. But I doubt he'd come back here.
Master Blaster
Yes. Â Â I still wish we had gotten Rob Ryan in the off-season though.
Bishop Hammer
I'd also welcome the idea of Scarlett Johanson's hand in marriage and for her to have my kids. But that's not going to happen either.
Dont Taze Me Bro
I would welcome him back, I wanted him to be the next head coach after Joe retired again. Â But, I think we need to focus on fixing the o-line in both FA and the draft, along with possibly trying to snag another stud WR to complement Garcon. Â So, I don't think the timing is right because it would require a switch back to the 4-3 that I don't think we need to focus on until we fix the offense first. Â Â So, with that said and as much as I want Haz gone, the most likely move would to seek out another 3-4 DC (if Haz is gone, which may be unlikely too). Mania
If Shanahan's here, Haslett will be here. Quote me on that and book it!  So it's all moot discussion. FWIW, I'd rather Spanois or Crennel as the next DC.  Hail. I'm quoting you, because I believe Haslett will be fired.  I'd welcome Williams back if we were switching back to a 4-3. Although I'll take Crennel or Spanos over Haslett, Crennel's D's haven't been known for stopping the run or particularly good on tackling, ever since he left the Patriots. More Complete
Why not? Guy is a great coach. I'd take just about anyone over Haslett.
Englands Team
I think both Wade Phillips and Rex Ryan could be available next year and I would take either of them.
MAATopDogg
I would love if we got Williams back. Hiring Zorn instead of Williams was a Vinnie move. I could see him coming back here and his scheme is adaptable to a 3-4.
Burgold
Nope. Williams d for both the skins and saints were too up and down. His first year tends to be pretty good, but then you don't know what you'll get. Williams second year with Gibbs was almost Haslettesque (might have been his third)
Taylor703
I always thought he should've got the job when Gibbs retired. Love the guy, tough as nails and his players would run through a brick wall for him. If he's brought back which would be next to impossible after Snyder dicked him around, he'd have to come on as head coach.
