Rebel Wilson is definitely growing on me. I thought she was going to be a gimmick after the first movie..but I actually find myself liking her comedy. Not sure what that says about me.

Agreed on DSM, Momma. They were freaking amazing in that movie. I guess the lead dude (Flula Borg) is a popular DJ/youtube star.

wow, I'm not the only one who got bullied by their old lady to see PP2 instead of Mad Max lol.  Not much to add to what's already been said.  Lizzie Banks is flipping hilarious and so is Rebel.  Alexis Knapp is mega hot.  Agree with Momma There Goes that Bro about the music, just didn't crank as hard as the rockapellas from the first PP.  The acapella showdown in the empty pool from PP1 was magical.

when it comes to comedy sequels, rarely is the second installment as good as the first.  That's the case here with PP2, but still plenty of laughs.  Give it a solid B (for Alexis Knapp's Boobs).

Did anybody stick around for the post credits Bumper scene in Pitch Perfect 2? It doesn't relate to the story any and it's pretty goofy but it was funny. He pretty much just out of nowhere pops up on The Voice as a contestant and tries to win the judges over. Shelton hits the button first to turn around then almost immediately hits it again to go back lol

I didn't know it was there but we were just waiting for the theater to clear out and it popped up so we got lucky.

We did. Bumper mentioned being like the 7th alternate to a very famous singing show when he was hitting on Fat Amy during the movie.

I wish the scene would have ended though with Blake just hitting the button again.

  1. Haunted by the violent demise of their parents 10 years earlier, adult siblings Kaylie (Karen Gillan) and Tim (Brenton Thwaites) are now struggling to rebuild their relationship. Kaylie suspects that their antique mirror, known as the Lasser Glass, is behind the tragedy. The seemingly harmless reflections contain a malevolent, supernatural force that infects the mind of anyone who gazes into it. As Kaylie gets closer to the truth, the siblings become caught in the mirror's evil spell.

Pretty good. We enjoyed it. I'm notoriously harsh on horror movies, as it is my favorite genre, but this one was good. It started to get a little ridiculous towards the end with the nose bleeding flashback/flashforwards, and whatever the hell else was going on, but ultimately, I got what they were trying to do. Gave off a throwback feel. There was zero explanation of just who the "Other woman" was, but I can forgive that. True greatness is hard in today's climate. I'll take what little I can get.

  1. In the poverty-stricken favelas of Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s, two young men choose different paths. Rocket (Alexandre Rodrigues) is a budding photographer who documents the increasing drug-related violence of his neighborhood. José "Zé" Pequeno (Leandro Firmino da Hora) is an ambitious drug dealer who uses Rocket and his photos as a way to increase his fame as a turf war erupts with his rival, "Knockout Ned" (Seu Jorge). The film was shot on location in Rio's poorest neighborhoods.

bruh, City of God was tough. loved that joint.

so  you're a horror dude...you rocking with the new Poltergeist?  Have you seen Annabelle?  I recorded it this past weekend on HBO, not sure if I want to give it two hours of my life or not.  Was wondering if its worth it.  The Conuring was great, and with Annabelle being a spinoff of sorts, it kinda sparked my interest.

Aye Sin, have you seen "It Follows?"  pretty solid horror joint, true 70s feel.  fimled entirely in Detroit, they really used the city really well as an eerie backdrop, loved that.

I'm not a huge fan of reboots, remasters, etc, as most of you know, so I'm on the fence about the new Poltergeist. I'll probably get dragged to see it though (I've met my match in horror/gore fanaticism). Haven't seen Anabelle. The creepy doll aspect had me intrigued, but its getting hammered on Rotten Tomatoes.

I think we talked about the Cobjuring before. I thought it was good, but I wasn't impressed. Not worth the hype (What is, really? Hype these days does a huge disservice to pretty much anything). Nothing innovative or intriguing. VERY predictable. Very much done before (pretty much every scene). If I hadn't watched so many horror movies over the years, I probably would have loved it. But again, I am a harsh judge. I am not infallible, though. A lot of people liked it. Just wasn't my thing, I guess.

I saw the previews. Looked pretty good. Def gave off an eery vibe. I'll have to check that out.

Went on an AI bender Wednesday night, watched Ex Machina and Chappie back to back.

Ex Machina was brilliant.  I know Oscar Isaac was considered the third actor in this movie behind Gleeson and Vikander, but I thought he shined the most.  I think he's going to be as good a character actor as Phillip Seymour Hoffy.  Seriously.  He's been in several good movies the last few years, and he played very unique characters in all of them.  Loved him in A Most Violent year.  Hell, I even liked him in Sucker Punch.   This movie was better than I thought it'd be, and I had high expectations.    Gosh, there's a lot I want to talk about but there are too many spoilers.  A.

Chappie.  "Chappie has fears!"  Okay, this was a weird one.  Really corny at times, but it also had some very strong moments.  Of course with Blomkamp it felt very District 9'ish, Elysium'ish.  But this wasn't as good as those two.  Still, Chappie was decent, definitely worth the watch.  Though the "what constitues life" thing went a little overboard, watching Chappie struggle with his conscience was very interesting to watch. The movie was almost like "A.I." meets "iRobot," meets Ed-209.  Best performance was probably Watkin Tudor Jones, who played the gangster.  Completely forgot Hugh Jackman was in this movie. B-.

American Sniper - Brad cemented himself as a Hollywood big boy with this one.  Damn he crushed it, no he was nominated. My wife was disappointed because Brad wasn't his usual handsome self LOL.  I know Silver Linings Playbook, Place Beyond the Pines, and American Hustle had people taking him a lot more seriously as an actor lately, but this was easily Cooper's best movie.  From his body, to his accent, to the way he held his resting face....Brad became Kyle.  He was scary good.  Loved the battle scenes, Clint didn't overdo it with large scale warfare, he stayed true to what it was...small arms fire shootouts and door to door hell.  I would've liked to see more of Kyle's PTSD treatment, but not a big deal.  Fantastic film!  Cooper is the real deal.  A.

I searched the internet for that post-credits Pitch perfect 2 scene....LOL.  Bumper is the man.  he's hilarious on Modern Family.

Kingsman: Secret Service: B+

Very entertaining. The over the top violence and not so subtle jabs at James Bond went hand in hand quite well. Acting was spot on. It was very tongue-in-cheek, so to speak, with the corny villains, insane gadgets, etc. Enjoyable.

Furious 7: A

Another great entry in the franchise. Ever year it gets a little more over the top and 'splosion filled, but it's more enjoyable than the average Michael Bay flick, because you like the characters so much. The tribute to Paul Walker at the end was well done. If you like action movies with heart, you'll like this. Also, Nathalie Emmanuelle is gorgeous.

Ex Machina: B

Another movie I enjoyed, but I don't quite get the hype for it. I get the story and the themes behind it, but it didn't necessarily blow me away. Not a bad movie in any regard, though. I can see why it got great reviews, though it didn't resonate with me quite so strongly. Domnhall Gleeson's performance was spot on. Also, Vikander did a great job as the AI. Very, very well done by her.

Dinosaur 13: A

This is a documentary about the T-Rex skeleton "Sue", that was found in 1990, that was then proceeded by very lengthy and the equally ridiculous lawsuits and trials for the next 15 years. It'll both wow you, and piss you off at points. Highly recommend.

American Sniper: B-

In and of itself, and if you haven't read the book, it was a good movie. I read the book a few months ago, before I saw this, and I've gotta say this movie is more military porn than biopic. Chris Kyle in this film was a bit romanticized and was made to be much more likeable. It was still a good film overall, and I can recommend seeing it, but it's an exaggerated portrayal of Kyle's character and experiences.

1000 to 1: The Cory Weismann Story - currently on Netflix

About a kid that scored 1000 points in basketball on his high school team, has a stroke his freshman year in college, and his journey to play college basketball again.

About to finish it up, very emotional.  Makes you appreciate life and how fortunate most of us are.

I added this to my queue a couple weeks ago I think and haven't had a chance to watch yet. Looking forward to it

Dream House (Rachel Weisz, Daniel Craig). It was okay. About a guy who relocates his family from the city to the countryside, looking to spend more time with him. Only just about everything around him is monumentally ****ed.

Not sure what genre this was supposed to be. The build up suggests several possibilities, then the big plot twist reveals something else, then the ending reveals another possibility. It all gets jumbled. But I was satisfied.

Man, ol' Rach hasn't aged a bit.

John Wick. Holy crap, that was intense. Two hours of badassery. It was like Mel Gibson's Payback on steroids. He'll of a revenge film. dark and violent, just how I like em. Keanu kicks much ass in this one B+.

Ok, I have to re-watch this. Everyone I know loved it. I thought it was an o.k. film. It was the movie I watched directly after The Raid 2. So, to me, it wasn't a great action movie. With that said, don't **** with my dog!!!1

Good recommendation broski.  Just watched it and thought it was pretty good.  Plot twist in the middle was crazy, ending was pretty good too.
