Kosher Ham
As anyone would have guessed, it's simply a list of our personal favorites....Stevie Wonder's only on here once. James Brown is missing altogether. Marvin Gaye? Absent. Janis Joplin? *crickets*...but there's still time, and I know I'll be adding a few artists who--so far at least--have been overlooked. Some of personal favorites were already listed. I would list Joplin as one to hear, but I haven't listened to her in nearly 20 years it seems like. Same with James Brown and Marvin Gaye overall. Better off with a greatest hits version...although I don't think that is the premise of the thread. ---------- Post added February-17th-2012 at 11:21 AM ---------- So I say screw it, and just roll with it in the fun manner in which it was meant. Fair enough. I agree with you. Mainly because it become a jumble of mess and then I will just lose interest.

deejaydana
121. Marvin Gaye---What's Going On (1971) This isn't a "best of" but damn, it plays like one. It's stacked with great songs. Lost gem: Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler) This album is a bit dark, really and I think it may be his best ever.

Bang
126 Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet In 1956 the Miles Davis quintet (Miles, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderly and others) got together in a warehouse in Hackensack New Jersey, and over the course of two day-long sessions recorded five albums. This is one of the best jazz albums there is, IMO ~Bang ---------- Post added February-17th-2012 at 06:57 PM ---------- This is actually a pretty awesome list when you see it all laid out in one post. ~Bang

It still stands up well over time. Getting a little off track, but this is one of my fav. all time songs. Man did we wind down chilling to these at the end of many club nights in the '90's. Ellis
134. Portishead -- Roseland Ballroom, NYC LIVE (1998) They said you either love or hate this band. The beauty of Portishead is that they are given credit for being one of the founders of the trip-hop genre out of London. I believe this album is their peak and they did so with a full orchestra. I cannot recommend this album enough. It is a must listen, especially in full surround sound.
