172. Leftover Crack, Mediocre Generica

173 Pain, Midgets with Guns (May be very hard to find, aside from youtube)

I don't think this is positive, but since I really like Pain I'll take it that way ;p

Bands from Alabama don't get much press, and nowadays the albums are pretty tough to find.

Spear, that's another great choice from you. ;)

These guys need to be in here:

142. Wheels of Fire---Cream

The first "supergroup"---consisting of bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce, guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker.

This was the world's first platinum-selling double album

How about super group part deux? Blind Faith...Fantastic Album

How do you think an album cover with a topless prepubescent girl would go over today?

179. Ryan Adams----Gold (2001).

The second great cd in a row from a prolific rock/country songwriter. This was his love letter to the city of L.A. I've heard (even though ironically the most noticeable "hit" from the cd is "New York, New York") and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys country influenced rock and roll). He's a really prolific artist as I've mentioned and his output in recent years has become more inconsistent but both "Heartbreaker" the cd issued in 2000 and this one are solid all the way thru and capture this guy at the top of his game. He kicks ass in concert too provided he's not doing his George Jones impersonation.

176: Jakob - Solace

In attempting to post the best post-rock instrumental band, I'm torn. Fans of the genre would argue that Mogwai or Explosions in the Sky should represent the genre on a list like this. Both are better-known and are amazing bands in their own right. But this album from Jakob, and specifically this song, is the best post-rock recording I've ever heard. If you like the genre and don't know these guys, get this album and listen to it through (good) headphones. The drums sound very live and unprocessed, the bass is one of the best recordings I've ever heard, and the guitar tone is freaking incredible. That this trio can create something like this and perform it (flawlessly) live just solidifies their position as the top post-rock band in my mind.

184.

This has been hands down the best album I have purchased in the last 5 years:

Black_Ribbons_-_album_cover.jpg

I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to come up with a way to describe it, finally I went to it's wiki page and the first line talks about how it's Allman Brothers meeting Pink Floyd.

"Musically, Black Ribbons is a mind-blowing opus that completely obliterates genre distinctions. On this unprecedented work, twanging dobros coexist with Nintendo chipsets; brutally assaultive passages alternate with moments of unabashed tenderness, and surreal Floydian soundscapes float above smoking slabs of whiskey-soaked southern soul. It's an electrifying thrill ride across a dense, dark and gloriously decadent musical landscape."[4]

Amazing album. Shooter Jennings, Black Ribbons.
