I think people overestimated England and underestimated just how scrappy and driven Croatia was.

Croatia has gone to extra time three times in a row and won each game.

Technically, they have won only 1 game against England.

And if it comes to betting, they would even told ya that Croatia had 3 draws, because they check at the end of regulation time.

From what I've seen tonight, Neither England or Croatia did impressed me. England was much of a mess with no real team play and Croatia just won its final. Guys stayed on the field for long minutes celebrating, just like they won the Cup... They were inexistant during first half and went back into the game due to England's mess...

I don't expect Croatia to really show up on sunday, those guys are toasted, they've played 3 times 30 minutes more than any team, that's a whole game... That will be like playing on Thrusday game right after taking part in the Monday Night Game...

Fixed that for yer. Yer can’t say one without the other.

Even Evertonians see the funny side in the diddy man in their nets.

Hail.

Short arms?!?

The co-ckney dude has gotten some major stops with those arms, I’d be proud to have him.

Was England expected to finish top four?  Tough game today, but all in all they’ve had a good World Cup.

This was a once in a century opportunity for them to make the WC final. You'll never see them in contention again, not with Brazil, Argentina, Germany,

France and Italy standing in their way.

Uh huh. Short arms. Yiu’ll watch him next year and think of that. Telling yer haha.

I think they’ve had him on the rack stretching him this tournament as he wasn’t the best ‘keeper by a long chalk that squad going in.

Sunderland mate BTW. Other end of the Country.

Hail.

They have a good generation of players coming up. All they did was win the U20 World Cup, which can correlate to success. "Once in a century" is fun hyperbole and not much more.

Argentina is crap and will be even worse off without Messi. Germany's Golden Generation just expired. Italy? Meh, we'll see, they didn't even qualify this year. Brazil is Brazil but they haven't won since 02, the worst has caught up to them.

@Long n Left

Good news: Joyce in his midnight update tweeting we’re ‘closing in’ on Shaqiri.

Great but bloody bizarre news: Maddock reporting Fekir has reached agreement, whatever the F that means, for talks to reopen with Lyon and the only club he wants to join- https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/nabil-fekir-reaches-agreement-lyon-12896156.amp?1=&__twitter_impression=true

This is just the single maddest transfer saga I think I’ve ever known. And give we specialise on transfer saga’s, that’s saying something!

Wrong on all counts. Next WC is 4 years away, plenty of time for the traditional juggernauts to reload. And I didn't even mention Holland and Belgium.

Nope, England's window closed tonight.

England deserve a ton of credit if we're being serious. They just need an attacking playmaker with more craft IMO and I feel like if you put a 100% Lallana in there instead of Ali and knowing what we know now England could very well be in the final. Apart from Young, Walker, and Henderson everyone in the regular 11 will be around in 2022. U20 team recently won a world cup and there are some really good prospects in the classes ahead of and behind them. They better hope Phil Foden ends up somewhere he can get on the pitch too.

How do you figure?  England is tied with France as the second youngest team at the WC this year.  I don't think you can say what their team will be like in 4 years.  Just as 4 years ago, I doubt you would have said England will make the semifinals this WC.

So Degsy Lovren is the first player since Paolo Maldini in 1994 to play in the European and World Cup Final in the same season.

Uh, Modric?

Also not bad company, to be fair.

I believe Deschamps wont change a thing, Kante and Matuidi doing the heavy workload clogging the middle (Modric and Perisic), Varane on Mandzukic.

Respect the opponent, no arrogance please !, remember Euro 2016 final.

Ahhh Degsy. I love yer mate and your turnaround since the Wembley debacle into a solid, no-nonsense CH that can be relied upon again has been fantastic to watch but let’s not go talking utter nonsense saying you’re one of the best CH’s the World hey mate?

Related, as there’s many who still, sadly, don’t get it .....

As much as it means little to me, England’s wonderful ride to the semi and the way it’s given people great joy and pride in Unifying the Country ..... The irony on those same people mocking our run to Kiev and taking great joy in the defeat there, telling us it means nothing if you don’t ultimately win the trophy. Not being able to comprehend why we weren’t down and P in defeat ..... Well, maybe NOW they finally get it.

Football’s about moments and memories. And when people are proud and happy experiencing those, that’s what ultimately counts.

To tell them it means nottin if there’s no trophy at the end of it is a very narrow minded view that just doesn’t take into account what supporting a football team is all about.

Kudos to England and all their fans for getting to experience that and realising those emotions.

Boss game this togger hey when it all comes together and unites people in joy to make them forget the drudgery of everyday life?

Hail.
