Heinicke is meh. He's an average QB I guess. Can be in th league and have a career, but he's not someone you don't replace when you can. He's another Kyle Allen. He's fine.

He's this much more if he tries to make a living in the pocket. He has to find a healthy balance, but what he's doing now is too much the other way (staying in the pocket)

Well they drafted a LB in the first round. Turns out his college tape which showed he was slow to read and react was accurate. Not to bash Davis. He made a nice play in this game on the 4th down. But he is nowhere near ready to be a 3 down starter. At least they tried to address the position though.

The difference is, when you draft a player who has the physical tools and at least a base level of understanding of the game and fundamentals, you can coach them over the course of their first few seasons and mold them into a very good player.   Remember Lavar Arrington?  He was the best athlete on the field in most games but his early seasons were a mixed bag of unbelievable isolated plays and sloppy missed assignments that cost a lot of yards.   When we brought in Marvin Lewis to force him to play disciplined he had his best statistical season and started to realize his full potential, however he was a total crybaby about having to play "assignment football" and started bad mouthing the coaches behind the scenes.

Guys like Bostic and Holcomb are sort of like when we had Reed Doughty at safety.  He was smart and understood the game, but his physical traits were so limited that he had a relatively low ceiling on how good a player he could become despite coaching.

Chase Young tended to disappear occasionally when he was at Ohio State, but was usually a force to be reckoned with. This season, it's like he's pulling his disappearing act every game.

I’ve e noticed that when he wins, he gets pushed right out of the play enough for the Qb to find a wide open receiver. It’s discouraging to say the least.
