Update on the dishwasher:  I was sick for the last week, finally got back to the living, and had to deal with it yesterday.  I unloaded the lower rack and pulled it out to look and :ols:...a wooden spoon had shot up & the handle was stuck between the slider thing and the dishwasher wall.  It took a little wrangling to get it unstuck, but it's all taken care of now, and a whole lot easier than I thought.

A shorter winter is fine but at the same time I have to spend more time weeding the lawn again which is a waste of time. And of course every 2 or 3 weeks the HOA is going to complain about the weeds. Yes, I work from home. That doesn't give me free reign to do whatever the **** I want, I still have to be by the computer and actually get work done.

Avoided the fast and the furious franchise for a long time but been binging them on prime. good stuff. 5 was great

sadly 6 and 7 are not on prime meaning I'll probably have to find other ways to watch. But wow, the first 5 movies are awesome.

Something I just found out. From Wikipedia. I saw an article on FB about the town and the name caught my attention.  Personally, I think the town name should change.

"White Settlement is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States, and a northwestern suburb of Fort Worth."

PSA: for those who have or haven't seen it, Kentucky Fried Movie is streaming on Prime Video.😃

It's a 1977 classic, written mainly by the guys who later brought you Airplane, The Naked Gun and Police Squad. Directed by  National Lampoon contributor John Landis, who did a lot of great movies later.

It includes a number of former members of second city tv, Fridays, and early snl and even some from national lampoon magazine (a fantastic source of comedy gold for twenty years) who also worked on nat lamps great comedy albums.

All kinds of interesting people in it like George Lazenby (James Bond) and Henry Gibson (Laugh-In).

One segment is a legendary send up of Enter the Dragon with a guy named Han Bong Soo (often Americanized to Bong Soo Han) who I actually knew somewhat. He was a world class master of Hapkido. Movie has a couple so so sketches but a lot of awesome stuff.

👍

Today I learned:

Tracy Chapman became the first black woman to write a #1 country song. All it took was for Luke Combs to country-it-up.

America needs more of things like her and Luke Combs at the Grammy's.

For me and most everyone in my circles of travels, it was huge and so was she. The whole album was powerful and brilliant.

But never a follow up that hit as big, though her live performances were raved about for a number of years.

It was also a well mastered recording that showed off high end audio gear. Just beautiful to listen to in every way.

@Jumbo

Too young to appreciate "Fast Car" originally -- and she did have a bigger hit, "Give me One Reason", which wasn't my cup of tea as a teenager.   But when you hear "Fast Car" much later in life, the song hits different...

But, teenage me somehow owned a copy of "Kentucky Fried Movie" on VHS.  Somehow 30 years later,  I can't remember names of people I meet and work with on occaisiom.  But I still remember half the skits.

"THRILLSEEKERS" - the idea of evil kinevil type of guy going to the ghetto and yelling out the n-word

"Enter the Dragon" - SEND HIM TO DETROIT!

NO!! Not Detroit!

"Zinc Oxide and You"

"Late night newscast that can see what you are doing on the couch"

"Top Secret!" is also one I remember being so funny along the same veins.

Beaver and Wally in court is a riot.
I LOVE this movie. I can't recommend it enough.

So my random tale for the day is a bit scary.
A few years ago I landed in the hospital with pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac around my heart. When it started it just felt like my back was a little out of whack, like if i could just get it to crack or loosen up, I'd feel ok. So I ignored it,, me and my back have had our tricks, and so I figured it was more to do with my sleeping position, I even went to a chiropractor.
Then one night i woke up in a pain like i'd never have before, i imagine it's like a heart attack.. long story short, the sac tore, fluid got out, and infection started.
Hospital fixed me up.

SO recently i've felt the symptoms again. This time i didn't wait, and went to my Dr on Monday. She agreed with me, and got me a prescription fo the meds that clears it up.
"Colchicine" is one of them. It's what they gave me before, and it did the trick in short order.

SO yesterday Giant pharmacy calls to tell me it's ready, my wife stops by to pick it up and all of the store's networks are down. They can't take any credit cards, even pump any gas.. and they cant' fill scrips. So they give my wife a 2 day supply.

Now, i take one medication. It's Atorvastatin, rather common statin for cholesterol. It's the only thing i take. Prescribed by the same doctor.

My natural need to 'do my own research' kicks in, and so I google the interactions between colchicine and atorvastatin and what do you know.. a potentially very serious toxicity can develop and shut down my kidneys and potentially kill me. I look through several sources I consider reputable, AMA, Medlineplus, and a couple others. All say the same thing.

So now i am waiting on a phone call as to what to do. (I have a feeling if Giant's systems hadn't been down it would have flagged it. I hope.)

Moral of the story: "Do your own research" has become synonymous for "I am a paranoid loon".

But you'd better do it.

The video for Tracy Chapman's Fast Car was on MTV constantly way back when. Nine year old me wasn't really into it.

In 1988 it had some stiff competition. Robert Palmer, Living Colour, Public Enemy, and the band I considered the new Poison n didn't like initially Guns & Rose's. 🤭
