I heard San Fransico is nice, whats the deal?

San Fransico is also a mecha for progressive social policies. There are other cities that are like that but SF seems to be number 1. I don’t know if it’s because they were the first, or biggest, or what.

the hidden message is Harris will turn your area into a gay pride every day, homeless everywhere, taxes so high you can’t afford it even if you used to be able to, etc.

I think that Democrats, whenever asked about anything said by Republicans, should laugh and laugh and say that's crazy isn't it?

I think democrats should demand the entire quote, or at least more than just one sentence.  The longer a quote you get from Trump the crazier it gets.  If you read an entire interview transcript it feels down right Lovecraftian as it bounces between reality and madness.

He's the one with the experience debating liberals and taking shots.

The problem here is that Pence is smart enough to know what he can get away with

unlike buffoon trump, who will just let whatever is on the front of his mind spill out his mouth, pence understands the rules

the moderators won’t dare call him on anything too much to avoid being labeled bias. The exceptions are networks where the bias argument is already baked in. So he knows he’ll get away with saying whatever the **** he wants. It’ll be harris’ just to rebuke it all, and there bias is baked in as well.

which is where our media has failed us. They’ve set the stage for this bull**** and they’re mostly too chicken**** to stand up to a politician that is obviously lying to the American people right in front of them.

but anyways. I have no doubt Harris would destroy pence in a well run debate where misinformation is not tolerated in the slightest.

In what we actually have, we need to be concerned Harris doesn’t screw up and look like the narrative gop is going to run with. Either the outright “radical democrat will run country cause Biden’s too old” or the more subtle “she’s not even qualified they just picked her cause she’s black and they knew you wouldn’t care she’s unqualified”

the gop will, and already has stared, do(ing) this but we need her to not make it easier or somehow play into it.

Id curb expectations that Kamala is going to automatically perform well on the debate stage against Pence. She isn't a natural politician or public speaker while Pence has decades of experience.

She instantly loses all her strength and credibility when she's pressed or trying to scramble for an answer. Her performance in the Dem debates dropped sharply as the questions got harder and the race tighter.

If she doesn't crack then she might be bulletproof against the GOP media machine.

She was a successful trial lawyer/prosecuting attorney in Oakland. A successful major county and city ADA and DA (SF). A successful large state AG and a successful State Senator. I'd think she'll be fine on the stage.

Yeah but has Kamala ever hosted a successful talk radio show?

Chessmate liberals.

the people who will watch the debate but were never going to vote for Trump anyways will walk away thinking she crushed him. We’re familiar with the tactics. As the “how to spot a campaign ad” video put it - we’re fluent in foxnews.

the people that were going to vote for trump will somehow think pence showed himself to be the better person no matter what actually happens.

the question is what the middle thinks.

although I honestly don’t know how meaningful the debates are for people who don’t pay attention to any of this until a month out, and what their political intellect is, to know if debates even matter for them.

Whats wrong with that?

San Francisco has high income, low unemployment and low crime.

Yes, it has a homeless problem. And housing prices are absurd.  Maybe its such a good city, people would rather be homeless there than have a home somewhere else.

I can speak for SF and the Bay Area. The crime rate is mostly non violent (car break-ins being a problem). The homelessness and drug use is a problem in the Bay Area but its the climate (50-75°F year round) that attracts the homeless to the area.

The main problem is the astronomical housing prices. But that's solely a result of Prop 13.

I want drug legalization and criminal justice reform (something like what Germany does, this 60 minutes piece is awesome https://www.cbsnews.com/news/this-is-prison-60-minutes-goes-to-germany/ )

that’s what I think needs to be corner stones of 4 years of hopefully dem control.

I honestly believe these items are the foundation of so many problems, especially ones that have an inequality aspect to them.

Thinking of a country where we don’t lock people up for drugs, fund cartels to ship drugs here, stop the reason for so much violence, stop over prosecution and overly harshprison sentences, make the entire system about reintegrating and becoming a productive member of society and life skills instead of locking people in a box where they only interact with other people locked inside a box then open the door one day and say good luck. Don’t forget your scarlet letter on the way out.

We tear families apart. We make life significantly harder in so many ways even after they supposedly paid their debt. We use it for servitude via cheap labor. We fuel so much violence and create easier pathways for things like human trafficking because drugs funded all the R&D.

and then I think about how ****ing angry black people are right now. Rightfully so. And I just can’t help but wonder how much easier and more productive dealing with the racism issue would be if those other two problems weren’t festering wounds on society.

I get most people are strongly against legalizing drugs and while criminal justice is an important topic it really seems more about police abuse. I also realize there’s a lot of stuff to fix. But those are the two I think would have a profound impact and make everything else easier to deal with.

How much you want to bet Trump has the Biden campaign investigated. He usually does the things he accuses others of

Id say you can pretty much count on it.  Like you say, Trump projects his own sins consistently.  He’s also shown that he believe the DOJ should function as a political arm of his administration.

Also what are the odds Harris’ presidential campaign was a get your feet wet thing. She dropped before the first primary.

I don't think so. I think she just ran a really awful campaign.

But hey, Biden has had a couple of awful presidential runs himself over the years. Live and learn.

I swear Bernie Bros are second only to MAGAs sometimes in how much they whine about everything and their borderline cult-like behavior.

Barr's already said he is "investigating" the Bidens and plans (shocking, I know) to release the findings in October.
