Report: Rehearsal For Biden Inauguration Postponed Amid Security Threats

A rehearsal for Joe Biden’s inauguration that was originally scheduled for Sunday has been postponed due to security concerns in the wake of last week’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Politico reported late Thursday.

Two people with knowledge of the decision told the publication that the rehearsal is now scheduled to take place a day later, on Monday.

The news comes as security officials work to ensure that the Capitol complex is secure after failures to do so ahead of the Jan. 6 joint congressional session that was met by a violent pro-Trump mob inflamed by President Trump.

The National Guard is expected to deploy more than 20,000 troops in preparation for the inauguration ceremonies next week and federal authorities distributed a bulletin to law enforcement urging them to be on high alert for potential further violence as President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in.

A Wednesday statement from the Biden transition team noted that the President-elect had been briefed about the threats from the FBI, the Secret Service and national security officials.

Biden’s team also said earlier this week that it would cancel the incoming president’s Amtrak trip from Wilmington to the nation’s capital due to ongoing security threats that have grown increasingly dire since last week’s Capitol siege.

A former president Trump won’t ‘need to know.’ Cut off his intelligence.

Susan M. Gordon was the principal deputy director of national intelligence from 2017 to 2019.

Every former president in the modern era has benefited from a unique national security perk after leaving the White House: routine intelligence briefings and access to classified information to support his continued involvement in advancing America’s interests. These briefings have been a matter of respectful convention and were granted by the new president to the old.

But convention left the premises a long time ago with President Trump, and his demonstrated approach to national security and intelligence suggest that a more purposeful decision must be made about providing intelligence to this soon-to-be former president.

My recommendation, as a 30-plus-year veteran of the intelligence community, is not to provide him any briefings after Jan. 20. With this simple act — which is solely the new president’s prerogative — Joe Biden can mitigate one aspect of the potential national security risk posed by Donald Trump, private citizen.

We had a company meeting yesterday (we're a small company) and one of the guys is a Trump supporter. He's not a bad guy, he's just one of those guys that seems smart and you pick at the surface a little bit. He tried to explain why the election was stolen last month and brought up the Illuminati...no one was buying that garbage. Yesterday, he tried to say BLM and Antifa were the one responsible for the Capitol invasion...no one was buying that garbage. I think its safe to say, most people aren't buying this garbage.
