That's great for certain regions of the country but I don't believe for a second that a progressive candidate can be successful on a national level at this point. I don't care what issues these people say they are behind, they are scared to death of just about anyone that can be labeled as left of Biden.

MAYBE for this election, but i'd say that's incorrect in future elections. people who are scared of lefties were the same people calling biden a communist. so i dont think they really see a difference. and you get a WAY bigger turnout of young and latinx voters for DSA candidates than you do for centrist candidates like biden. younger people are the future electorate, whether older people like it or not, and they swing heavily to more "socialist" policies

Election is over if we had popular vote.  Just saying, the network coverage should be "Why do we like a system where the guy who gets fewer total votes can win?"

But nope, we all just eat up the Electoral College system...

I don’t think either system is perfect. The problem with the popular vote is that two states (Cali and NY) could singlehandedly sway the entire process and unfortunately they don’t speak nor deal with a lot of the issues plaguing the Midwest and the south. White middle

class Los Angeles citizens don’t prioritize the same issues as, say, some farmer in Tennessee.

So how confident are we in Nevada?  Looks real close.  I’m a dc sports fan and I don’t like the look of that 8,000 vote lead.

Everything I have heard was that the remaining counties are Democratic leaning so he should hold onto Nevada.

Trump is going to win the largest share of the non-white vote for the GOP in like 60 years. I guess time will tell whether that was a fluke but I've been hearing the demographics changes will make Republicans unelectable since at least 2008 and so far it doesn't seem to be working out like people expected.

not confident, but still iikely to go to biden. only mail-in votes from blue counties left.

Being here I’m fairly confident. Clark County is a heavy blue county and that’s where most of the remaining votes are waiting to be tabulated. Everywhere else, like Washoe County and areas like Carson City have already been counted

Given that mail ballots favor Dems across the country and in a Dem leaning state, I feel good about where Nevada is right now.

Looks like Biden is about to make a statement again.  If I had to guess he is going to talk about being up in multiple states now and how all the votes should be counted etc etc.....I wouldn't mind him throwing in some criticism towards the USPS delivery rates for good measure.

ya, you never know with this country. i think trump support is an anomaly, but who knows anymore. i just think the support behind the DSA candidates is much bigger than most moderates think

yeah that’s a fantasy. I don’t know how, but the GOP is eating up minority support from Dems.

I’m not confident in late arriving votes in Nevada.  Seems like the closer to Election Day votes arrive, the more likely they favor Trump.  Lead is just 7600 votes.

What a ****ing nightmare.  I thought last week felt long, this week is like running through mud.

Best thing for him to do now is be diplomatic and not make any more enemies.

This makes zero sense.

Only the President is on everyone's ballot. Popular vote would give everyone an equally weighted vote.

As far as demographics go, we have to remember that Boomers are aging out. No, I am not wishing ill will on anyone, but just factually speaking, they are.  I am right on the border of being Gen-X/Millenial (born in 1980) and I just ticked over to being 40 years old this year.  I am at the beginning stages of middle-aged and what I find to be good policy might seem "too far left" for my parents (and their generation at large) but the voting power of my generation is about to take over as the dominant one soon.  As far as Trump getting a bigger share of the minority vote, again I will say that we need to hold up and pump the brakes on drawing any long term conclusions about this because I question whether this is more about Trump himself rather than actual conservative policy agreements.

ya, same scenario is happening in AZ too. that even though its mostly blue counties, its closer to election day votes, so that state is rattling my nerves too.

would love atlanta to finally start counting their votes
