Madison Cawthorn’s Campaign Gets Donation From Associate Of Sanctioned Russian Billionaire

Chalk up one more controversy for Rep. Madison Cawthorn, the North Carolina Republican who seems enveloped in it. Cawthorn’s cash-strapped campaign for re-election received a donation Friday from the cousin and business associate of a sanctioned Russian oligarch, according to a report filed Sunday night with the Federal Election Commission.

Andrew Intrater, a U.S. citizen who’s an asset manager for New York-based Sparrow Capital Holdings, contributed $1,000 to Cawthorn’s campaign. Intrater’s cousin and, at least at one time, biggest investor is billionaire Viktor Vekselberg, who has been under U.S. sanctions since April 2018. Last month, Spanish police, with assistance from U.S. law enforcement, seized Vekselberg’s superyacht on the resort island of Mallorca.

CAMPAIGN DONORS BOUGHT MTG A $92,000 VEHICLE

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene used donors’ campaign contributions to buy herself a luxury vehicle worth over $92,000, FEC records show.

The expenditure will prove controversial as the May 24 primary approaches, not just because of the expensive, swanky nature of the vehicle, but because Greene’s second biggest source of donations is retired Americans—meaning she effectively raided donors’ Social Security checks to buy a tricked-out vehicle from a Buick/GMC dealership.

OpenSecrets.org shows that Taylor Greene’s second biggest “industry” donating to her was “retired,” meaning senior citizens who are increasingly finding themselves cash-strapped as inflation continues to bite hard have been bankrolling her campaign expenditures, including on this high-end vehicle.

As of the time of writing, the website of the dealership in question shows no vehicles for sale with a sticker price above $81,860. Playing around on the GMC website, it looks like she ordered a 2022 GMC Yukon XL SUV with just about every available amenity and add-on.

You’ve got to wonder how old ladies living in California, Texas, or Florida—because as noted, MTG raises more money in each of these states than she does in Georgia—contemplating having to switch over to cat food to make their Social Security checks stretch so they can occasionally toss $5 here or there to MTG would feel about this.

Because spending campaign money on stuff like this isn’t about sticking it to Nancy Pelosi, impeaching Joe Biden, fighting the woke left, or anything like that. It’s just about MTG according lavish benefits on herself, enjoying the fruits of being a politician, and self-dealing in a luxurious, and legal—but not necessarily ethical—way.

At this point you cannot be surprised. Offended? Repulsed? Yeah but not surprised.

How long before Tucker Carlson starts railing about how Lincoln overstepped his authority with the Emancipation Proclamation?

Not even a joke for the record

if you use Alito's EXACT logic (that he used for abortion), at the founding of the country there was no intent to think about the freedom/equality of non-white non-male members of the republic... therefore...      (yes, there have been amendments after the founding, but ANYthing that is not EXPLICITLY verbatim in the actual language of the amendments is fair game.... )

Inside the Relentless Campaign to Ruin Madison Cawthorn

Multiple embarrassing traffic stops. A credible accusation of insider trading. Photos of him sporting hoop earrings and a bra. A video of a male staffer’s hand near his crotch. Another video showing him jokingly but nakedly humping the upper body of potentially the same man—his cousin. And possibly more to come.

Few in politics have seen anything like the ever-worsening public relations trainwreck that has consumed the political career of Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC). The unrelenting pile-up of damaging stories, insiders say, is the clear handiwork of political players determined to take out the 26-year old MAGA hero in the May 17 primary election.

With a field of hungry Republican primary opponents eyeing the divisive freshman’s seat, the sources of the coordinated stories seem clear: the attacks are coming from inside the house.

Madison Cawthorn May Have a New Ethics Violation to Handle

“It’s definitely a hit job that I’m happy to be a party to,” a veteran North Carolina operative involved in the race told The Daily Beast.

“Most of the GOP universe has come around to align against this guy,” he added. “You’re seeing a full-court, state-based, establishment pushback against him. Get this guy out. Take him out. We’re gonna see if we can pull it off in eight days.”

A bit of conspiratorial conventional wisdom has taken hold recently among some on both the right and left: that the knives came out for Cawthorn in March after he alleged that unnamed GOP lawmakers were openly sniffing drugs and hosting orgies.

That may have been the last straw for some. But the reality is Cawthorn has spent the last year making enemies, from Capitol Hill to the corner of North Carolina that he represents. The congressman’s most recent string of unforced errors—from the coke-and-orgy comments to disparaging Ukraine’s president as a “thug”—merely helped to consolidate a powerful coalition of longtime foes and former friends.

The former group—led by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC)—has backed state Sen. Chuck Edwards, one of Cawthorn’s leading primary challengers, and has spent heavily on ads damaging the congressman.

The real story isn't that he did all of the things that the above quote intentionally works to downplay as much as it can.

We should be paying attention to the vast, evil, conspiracy that's snitching.

Ex Idaho lawmaker charged with rape is arrested in Georgia

A former Idaho state lawmaker charged with rape earlier this month has been arrested in Georgia.

Aaron von Ehlinger is being held without bond in the Clayton County, Georgia jail on a “fugitive from justice” charge, according to court records. He was arrested Saturday in connection with the Idaho warrant, which charges him with rape and sexual penetration with a foreign object.

Von Ehlinger was a Republican state representative from Lewiston, Idaho when a 19-year-old legislative intern reported that he brought her to his apartment under false pretenses and raped her. At the time, von Ehlinger denied all wrongdoing and maintained he had consensual sexual contact with the woman. The AP doesn’t name people who report sexual assault unless they agree to be publicly named.

A legislative ethics committee, however, found that von Ehlinger engaged in “behavior unbecoming” and said they would support a vote to remove him from the Idaho Statehouse. Von Ehlinger resigned from office before the vote was held.

The Idaho warrant, issued Sept. 9, would have allowed him to be freed after his arrest as long as he posted bond. But von Ehlinger did not turn himself in over the subsequent two weeks.

The details surrounding von Ehlinger’s arrest in Georgia were not immediately released. Von Ehlinger made his first court appearance on the fugitive from justice charge Monday, when a judge denied him bond.

Shock Verdict: Ex-Republican Lawmaker Guilty of Raping Teen Intern

After 11 hours of deliberation, an Idaho jury has found disgraced ex-Idaho GOP state lawmaker Aaron von Ehlinger guilty of raping a 19-year-old intern last year after a dinner date.

The decision followed a lurid three-day trial in which von Ehlinger vehemently disputed the allegations, insisting the encounter had been consensual, and his accuser, who testified under the pseudonym Jane Doe, fled the courtroom mid-way through her emotional testimony.

Her dramatic exit meant her testimony was struck entirely, setting up a seemingly insurmountable hurdle for prosecutors, criminal defense lawyer David P. Shapiro said prior to the verdict.

I like the young lady they replaced her with. But I don’t think anyone is going to fill those shoes. She was so refreshing and polished. Really good hire for them.

The underrated part of this clip is the reporter at the end, after getting pounded by Psaki, manages to blurt out, “well, they’ll have a plan released this summer.”  Riiigghhht.  Bet it includes the Replace part of their Repeal and Replace healthcare plan.

One thing I'm noticing about this steaming pile?

The assumption that if Cawthorn had just kept his mouth shut about the coke orgies, the GOP would still be covering up these scandals.

Granted, that could easily be a true assumption.
