How do you feel about the Receiving corps?

I said it in the gameday thread, I'll say it again here. With Chris Thompson out, I want to see some shakeups in the receiving corps. Gruden finally unchained Doctson from the doghouse and it's showing why we should have used him from the start of the season. Outside of him though, we really use only 2 other receivers: Jamison Crowder and Ryan Grant. I know some homers love them some Ryan Grant, but he is not a feature receiver that takes pressure off Josh Doctson.

Maurice Harris showed up a week ago, and we didn't use him this game. I want him out there. Secondly, I want to see Terrell Pryor out there again. He earned his doghouse time, but at this stage of the game, it's time to see whether he's got the will to play or not. He's got the athleticism, which is a plus that could help fill Thompson's shoes. He's also got QB time, so it would be nice to actually try getting a WR throw from him just for the sake of trying it. If his catching is still 50-50, pull him out and call it a wash.

How many times was Josh targeted in the second half? Once? He should have caught 10 balls this game after Lattimlre was out. Another mystery to me is why we will feed one guy for a series or two and then move onto another. It was 18,18,18 early then 85,85,85 then 80,80,80. I don't get it.

Last I saw Pryor isn't in the doghouse so much as he's hurt at this point.  Supposedly his ankle or foot is injured, seeing a specialist today I believe.

I heard the 980 guys (Galdi) theorizing they gave the backup corner help over top covering Doctson, which opened up Davis and Crowder... and of course Ryan Grant.

I heard Cooley said Grant was wide open for a TD on the grounding play (or the one immediately afterwards).  Another kick in the walnuts.

LOL at Grant waltzing into the endzone

I said it last week, Cousins has to trust Doctson whether he likes it or not - we need them producing to have a chance this year. And sure as silk Kirk came out firing at him, even though he was covered. And Josh did great making plays on the contested balls.

It took a while, but our boy is all grown up. Kirk, that is. He is finally comfortable throwing 50/50's.

I thought I heard Aikman say it was Vernon Davis that gave the free pass... either way I think it was likely a missed assignment, otherwise Kirk should have at least glanced over to his left knowing a guy would be free.  Before getting absolutely clobbered.  Maybe Kirk screwed up, who knows for certain.

It's hard for me to really place blame on anyone given the context of the situation.  We just got a bum ass IG call an a clock operator with an itchy trigger finger.  It was utter chaos at that time and for good reason, it was inevitable that something awful was going to happen.

Agreed.

It is remarkable how quickly the wheels came off the wagon. First down, clock stopped, in FG range, on the road, a big dog.... all with enough time to run a play to the center of the field, and still have time to spike it.  Turns out it was too good to be true.

Why can't we have nice things. Every year is basically trying to eek out 8-8 and to squeak into the playoffs.

Jay was quick to answer with IR when Tandler asked him about it today, he didn't even get to finish his question.  As for the drama associated with it, who knows?  My guess: it's something most guys play with that Pryor would rather not, considering his status on the team.

I wonder if they knew he wouldn't pass a Physical and thats why we didnt trade him to Cle

You asked what would have happened if he didn't pass a physical.  Nothing would have happened.  Except it's Cleveland so maybe their doctors would screw it up and we'd have gotten a pick.

I'm wondering if thats why we didnt trade him.. we knew he wouldnt pass.

The first half of the Saints game was a positive step in the trust Cousins has throwing to a WR that will go out and make plays.  Cousins doesn't normally make those kinds of throws that rely on his WR to come away with a contested ball.  The throw into the endzone that Doctson came down with (but out of bounds) is a positive sign too even though it didn't count.

I think overall Cousins was much more aggressive then we have seen him in awhile. He was really attacking and not settling.  Aikman brought it up at some point too that he passed on a shorter wide open easy pass to Vernon Davis and threw a laser to (I think it was Grant?) who was also open, but for a lot more yards.
