My God... the Cowboys, though.

:(

At least they probably won't be as good this year with all those losses in FA, drafting at the end of all 7 rounds, and a 1st place schedule this season.  But I hate that they're being smart and loading up on comp picks to build for the future.  Then again, they also don't have much of a choice considering their cap situation.

People make too big a deal about comp picks sometimes. The Cowboys lost a very good Olineman, two rotational DLs and most of their Defensive Backfield. And the total value of those comp picks for that likely adds up to about a late 3rd/early 4th.

I don't think that's how it works.  I think Dallas is currently projected to get a 4th round comp pick, a 5th round comp pick, and two 6th round comp picks (it maxes out at four picks).  You can't lose a bunch of middling players and have it add up to a 3rd round comp pick.  The picks are based on the contract value your former players receive.  So for example, if we had re-signed Garcon and Baker, and not signed anyone else, we would get a projected 3rd round comp for D Jax.  But if we had re-signed D Jax, and let Garcon and Baker go without signing anyone else, we would get a projected 4th round (Garcon) comp pick + a projected 6th round (Baker) comp pick.

I didn't say they would receive such a pick. I said the total value of the picks they would receive would add up to about that.

I misread it, too @HTTRDynasty.

If your projections are right, them getting all those picks, even if they start in the 4th round, is a pretty nice haul.

Doesn't even remotely make up for what they lost considering how many key players left, so Rufus's point still stands in that it's overblown a bit.

But considering how cheap we've been for the most part and the big contracts Garçon and DJax got, I figured we would surely get something in return. Disappointed we didn't.

First, this Snarky McSnarkington remark, Which is wrong. Because he was referring to...Oh, nevermind. I I have to explain where linebackers play in reference to DL, you don't need to be here.

I was referring to the fact that a DL has a middle linebacker behind him and whoever we have on the d line is going to be sad.

Oh, I know. Apparently he didn't, and then was an asshat about it. I was coming to your defense. He was snarky for no reason, and at the same time looks like a dunce because what you said was obvious, and he got it completely wrong.

Not sure if this is the right place (Notsure!) but are we really keeping De'Angelo Hall at 4million just to see if he's got something left?

I must have misheard something or missed some nugget where we reduced his pay to some sort of "prove it" deal and we gained some cap space. If we're really just paying Hall to show up and see if he's got some mustard left, and we haven't reduced his cap hit while letting other, younger viable players get signed by other teams during this free agency period then we're truly screwed. Picking up RGIII's option was beyond stupid. Keeping Hall on the roster for 4mil is in the realm of brain dead. Loyalty has its place and this ain't it.

Last i heard the team is "waiting to find out more" on the dhall situation.

Im sure if he decides to comes back he will do a team friendly deal...

He's under contract for 4+ mil this year, bet he doesn't play 2 games in the regular season. Meanwhile, .....

I'm going to go out on a limb lil' bro' and say it might have something to do with dumping a top flight NFL evaluator and replacing him with a clueless imbecile with more faces than a town hall clock.

Hail.

New guy from Hull showed up today.

He called someone a "belter," and I said "You mean bellend."  I'm pretty sure he said something that would've translated to "I want you to throw hands right now," but I'm sure he just meant it was the "Scouse," version. :ols:

I wish I had more to discuss.  Like an ILB or a DL or something.

We're going to be shocked that the front 7 is garbage again because it's obviously been the coaching for 7 years.  Though it was the coaching for part of it.

I agree with most of what you say here, But then you kind of do a 180 at the end, the bolded part.

We were terrible last year up front, you don't think we improved, in fact took a step back up front so far. Had a terrible defense overall. But it's not doom in gloom. You'll have to clarify. I don't understand how you can't be.

It's simple.  For me, i still had us at 1-2 years from really competing...sooner if Kirk stays, & takes a few more steps.

I see it as a process...one that we have reason to question, but a process nonetheless.  It is more that my cut off time,  or tolerance for missteps is probably just a bit broader than most.

I'm ok with my perspective.

One thing not being discussed that much is the price of the lineman. We were in on Campbell and Logan. Both wanted too much for the money guys. You have to remember we have some massive contracts coming up with our Qb, guard, and right tackle. And what if Pryor becomes a stud here? They will not come cheap. If we had signed a 31 old end to a monster contract and he started to decline this place would have blew up worse than it already has. He is 31 after all and it could happen right away. Logan was another one that was asking for a good deal of money and did not have that many suitors either. He very well could be on the downside too as his numbers have indeed slipped pretty noticeably. Poe has a lot of question marks also and his market should have been a lot more hot than it was but concerns are there. Hankins is wanting too much money but again with him there are questions about injuries as well.

So here we are with McClain and Mcgee with contracts that are not that bad and two players with upside. Also with concerns but not the cash cows that the others are. Logan and Hankins also have that upside as well but part of the reason I cannot get all that upset is the big lineman that we all have wanted are no slam dunks. I wish they were I really do but the fact is they all had different concerns and when that much money was at stake I can see why we did not go that route. Would it feel better to say yeah we can stop the run now but we just lost the whole right side of our line in 2 years? Then people would be ****ing about that and rightfully so. You only have so many bullets in the gun after all and its hard to pick what is more valuable. At that point you have to look at the draft when it all comes down to money.

As far as the ILB are concerned they were never in on Hightower for the price he got and Brown could easily be a one year wonder and truth be told what market has been there for him? The Redskins are not the only team not sniffing around at him. He has had hardly any visits at all. I know what everyone is pissed about how it has went down this off season but a lot of what if players were free agents this year. They just were not that comfortable backing up the brinks truck to get them in here. They still can bust for the teams that signed them. Could they have helped on the surface? Oh absolutely! But again at that price it is a very risky proposition considering what we have contract wise coming up. I just can't get that mad at the front office for free agency so far. I get what they are doing. I just wish more people would see it also and put down the pitchforks.

Unless he was calling a female a belter, as in 'Belter that girl <hot tart her like>', then the lad is indeed a bellend. But then he's a wool anyways coming from Hull. (And probably inbred. Yeah, I went there. Sue me Hull fella' with yers antwacky 1950's 'style' that makes Leeds lads look modern! O hey Marty lad. Never seen yers there. :D.).  So he has enough problems to start with.

Belter- Good.

Me: Like me new Adidas trabs lad? ..... You: Or ay. Belter them lid. Nice one. How much like?

Bellend. Self-explanatory. Quite literally a dick.

Like you r kid. With yers 'defenCe.' (NO S!). God forbid yuse ever end up in an English court. (Which the Hull bellend would tell you is quite possible as the lazy Scouse stereotype goes.).

So about these Redskins .....

Hail.

They easily could have dropped Tony as a post June 1st cut and had 10 million more to keep those guys but they know they suck so let them go

Jerrys son was on the radio this week and described free agency accurately when he said you don't build your team through it. He said in Free Agency good players are paid as elite players, average players are paid like they are good players, and below average guys are paid like they are average and that's true. Free agency is not how anyone should build a team but we never get that

They are gonna have a horrible defense this year and expecting the coaches to coach them up to make them average. Couldnt happen to a better team lol

it'd be nice, but as a run heavy team they might save their D by trying to control the clock

Ok so Hankins wants too much $.. if you begin the dialogue with him, give him a visit and let him know when you do decide we are here with a fair offer. At least you are in the conversation when he does finally decide what he wants to do.

This is is my beef, a little TLC goes a long way. Let him know we want him, you never know, we might be able to get him cheaper than expected.

Just the tip, huh? Flirting? You're upset they're not publicly flirting.
