  1. And they were up against the 2's and 3's, and they could not slow anything down. Did you see any starters on Baltimore out there? Same with Cleveland last week. This is a bad trend.
  2. I mentioned this before, but the D looked much worse than advertised. Howell, however is legit. He looked really good.
  3. What I got to see with the Baltimore practices, with a DL that wasn't ours, is that the line help up pretty well. Same with Cleveland (although they were not 100%). So I feel a little better about the OL in general. Still think we should have been more aggressive going after a T either in FA or the draft. I think we are ok at C/G, and have good depth too. T kinda sucks IMO, but we will see.
  4. For the first time in a long time, I've been doing a deep dive on the team. I really like what Logan Paulson brings to the table, so I've been listening to him a lot. He's not as down on the OL as most are and I think he actually likes the interior of the line. Also mention that Wylie was working on a new technique, and was oversetting in his pass pro, and expects that to get fixed. I really have not had a chance to watch the Cleveland game, but the parts I saw in practice this week, it could have been a lot worse. Granted, I wish we had drafted a T higher than the 4th, and someone that looks like they can actually play this year, but we might be "ok" enough to win games.
  5. Finally got my hand out of the cast, so back to posting and not just reading. I was cautiously optimistic about Sam going into the offseason. Now, I'm sold. He's definitely a legit starting NFL QB. He makes quick reads, and is accurate with the ball. I honestly liked the throwaways in the Cleveland game, don't force it and compound it. Seems to be a hard worker and very coachable. Competitive. Physically, he had the tools. Mobile. Big arm. But the other stuff is what separates a QB in the NFL. And he looks to have all the mental aspects needed to excel.
  6. Well, Wylie was in the same scheme and gave up 8 sacks last year. I don't know if that is going to be enough. I get wanting lighter, more mobile guys, for the scheme. But that's only going to go so far if you don't have talent. And we really don't have it. Maybe they end up being "ok", but does anyone honestly think that this could be "good"?
  7. This. We should know that we don't have any top tier talent here. We have guys that "should be ok", or "might be ok." We don't have "good" anything there, and we certainly don't have great. OL is the biggest area of concern, and it really was not addressed.
  8. Ironically enough, to me this is a self fulfilling prophecy. He's getting fired because, IMO, he didn't want to step up and work, because he thought he was getting fired. It's also obvious he puts more stock in investing on the defensive side of the ball. Except LB, which is again, ironic. I honestly don't think they were going to draft a OL high, no matter how the draft went. I mean, a couple years ago we had a pretty decent OL that was built with cast offs and it actually worked, and he figured we could just not pay them, and hit the dumpster again, with the same results. I feel like he hates investing the the OL. And I absolutely hate that. Agreed. June 1st cuts are literally the worst way to fix a issue. I know you know this, because you can't rely on them at all. So, if this is what you're stuck doing, it's obvious to me that you don't really know what you are doing. Yeah, Ron needs to be gone after this year. Maybe EB does a good job and gets consideration as HC here.
  9. I think Dan leaving is a big part of it. I stop everything Washington for a bit. Because literally nothing was going to get better while he was the owner. Now, he's not. There is still a lot of work to do to clear everything out that was "Dan". Let's face, it's going to be a complete FO change, coaching staff, new stadium and likely another rebrand, for the new Ownership team to have their fingerprints everywhere. But, a lot of people will come back, because now there is hope. And I think there will be a honeymoon period, but one that might be longer than you might think. And it won't be just games either. Merch will blow up. People will start buying it again. The cloud that Snyder had over the franchise was so big and dark, that anything is going to be a big improvement.
  10. And it looks easy. He never looks like he's full out. 185 for me would bot "close to 200" for me. 190 would be better. But he is really lean, you can see facial muscles in his face. Probably needs to go on a high caloric diet to get weight up, he looks like the type that just burns calories like I used to. I can do that in one sitting. Those are rookie numbers.
  11. The more I think about it, the more I like this pick. There wasn't a OT I wanted (they were all gone) and I think he's going to be really good. I think he can get close to 200, and if that is the case, I don't think anyone is going to complain about him. And, of all things, I think he's faster than he clocked at the combine. Watching some tape against fast WR's, he has no issues keeping up with them.
  12. Well, did we go after a really good player to replace him, or a high draft pick? No. We kicked a OT that was hurt and was marginal to LG. This is not aggressively addressing the issue, like we did for the secondary. It's "let's see if a guy that isn't really working out at one position can work here". We won't know until he actually plays a position he's actually never played before, but to me, this is a lateral move. Because we sure didn't really try to fix it. We're hoping for the best, using parts that were not working elsewhere. There were issues everywhere. Leno gave up 9 sacks, and he seems to be the only guy people don't want to replace. Collectively, our OL is bad, ranked 24th in the league, and it would be likely worse, if Taylor wasn't the QB for most of the season. His pocket presence is elite and he got out of a lot of plays that would have been sacks otherwise. Our OL at this point is a mass of cast offs and a lone 2nd round pick that didn't work out at RT. To go back to your comment a competent OL? How about actually try to build one first. It starts there. We haven't.
  13. So, you're saying it doesn't matter? Then we agree, go and get guys that are GOOD a position. Not because they "can play" 2 or 3. Not really. Jack of all trades, master of none.
  14. Nice strawman. How about we just stick to guys that play C, G, and OT? Huh? For the starters? Poistion flex for backups? Sure, good idea. But I want quality for starters. I'm not sure why you don't. I don't see any real upgrades, at all. Lateral moves. We went after mid-low tier players. Look at our DL, and then look at our OL. It's night and day. We have been skimping on OL for years, and we've paid the price.
  15. This isn't the case. You talk about Martin and Scherff. Both were looked at as playing G in the NFL. Trent Williams was a RT that could play LT. And is still doing it really well. However, literally none of these guys were "position flex". College tackles that that projected to Guards because they lacked traits. Or a RT that was physically gifted enough to play LT. Drafting players because "they can play here, here, and here" get you a guy that won't do any of them well. Which is what we have right now, and it's a OL that was ranked 24th in the league. Not good. Did we upgrade? Not in FA. I like Stromberg, but I think we could have got him later. In a era where literally everywhere else is full of specialists, having a bunch of generalists for your OL makes no sense.
  16. And I get that. I don't really like it, I'm much more of a big, physical OL (yes, I'm a dinosaur). But I do get it. But I don't think we have RB's that match that. And the one RB we drafted definitely does not. I also get you can't turn over a roster in 1 year, but why draft a bruiser that isn't fast, or quick? Like I said, I don't see how that's going to work well. Why didn't we try for that in the 3rd round? Even later, and not blow a pick to move up to get ANOTHER DE? I really don't understand. But, I don't know if that is a new trend or not. I haven't followed the NFL like I used to the last several years, and I know I'm not up to snuff on new offensive trends
  17. The more and more I think about this, the more and more I'm not happy. Everyone knows Ron seems to favor "position flex" over seemingly everything else. I think that creates a OL that is not very good. I'm fine with that for reserves, but I'd much rather have experts, not swiss army knives as starters. And now that the draft is over I'm having more questions with the offense in general. I look at the OL and see a smaller, mobile bunch, but power running backs. They seem completely incompatible. If I wanted a sledgehammer, I'd have 330 pounders blowing people off the ball, with big back that run over the secondary. Or, I'd go with a lighter line, run a zone read with explosive, 1 cut backs that can take it to the house on any play. I really don't understand how this is going to work. I don't watch football like I used to, and I'm not as up to date on Offensive trends as I have been in the past. So, there might be a lot that I'm missing. If so, PLEASE enlighten me.
  18. Better that than a guy that played on season in college, and wasn't very good. It was actually 7, and it's still top 10. Gonna cost a lot for a guy that played 1 year and wasn't very good. I honestly have no idea what EB wants to do, or if he is going to be any good or not. And I hate what I have seen from Richardson, I think he's going to bust. RR is a defensive coach, and really hasn't shown much of the offensive side of the ball in general. There were better picks to throw at. And after RGIII, I think you need to really look at those picks. Just because you are a great athlete, doesn't mean you'll be a decent QB.
  19. There are some other ways too. 1 year of starting and 53% completion % are 2 that say BUST. I think it was real dumb to think about moving up to #4 in the 1st round for that. I'd take Levis over him, and I don't like Levis at all. Or Hooker. That would be more of a "middle" ground. I don't think you're looking for any, at all. Yep. throwing him out there out there day 1 would be a nightmare. He'll need a couple years to have a chance.
  20. That is literally the worst thing we could have done. I think Richardson is going to bust hard.
  21. That has literally nothing to do with what I was talking about.
  22. I'd think he'd want to show new ownership that he was interested in building a better team, to improve his chances of not getting fired.
