Santorum seems apprpriate

Santorum didn't sound interested on Tapper's show yesterday.

It was also funny on the same show when Rick was pooh-poohing impeaching Trump for campaign finance violation stuff related to paying off Stormy Daniels, and Jennifer Granholm reminded him that, as a senator, he voted to impeach Clinton essentially over lying about the Lewinsky affair.

Dear Mr President,

Please nominate Bruce Allen for your chief of staff. He has been hailed as a successful politician by a former employee, he has a family member accused of racism - disgraced by something he got caught saying on tape, and he loves to talk about winning even though he seldom does. He would be the perfect fit for your administration.

With all due respect to Mr. Khashoggi, only journalists would say that journalists under attack were the person/people of the year.  The media thinks the public cares about them and their struggles.

True. But in all fairness the public elected Donald Trump as President. So, ya know, they ain't so trust worth either lol

I'm down with the choice, and not a journalist. They have done a great service to our country, particularly over these last two years, and the threats to them suggest an erosion of democracy.

A free press is a vital underpinning of any democratic county.

Totally agree.  Great choice by Time.

We have a President waging a war on facts.  In this era of lies and deception, when any agenda-driven person or crackpot has an electronic platform to spread lies and deception, the need  for a free, responsible press is greater than ever.

As long as they don't become a propaganda machine.

Just pointing out,

Just as freedom of speech means freedom for Nazis and NAMBLA, freedom of the press means freedom to be a propaganda machine.

And if you think America didn't have propaganda machines before Fox News, you don't know your history.

The Trump administration for months concealed a report that showed Wells Fargo charged college students fees that were on average several times higher than some of its competitors.

The “unpublished” report was obtained by POLITICO through a Freedom of Information Act request. It was produced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau office previously led by Seth Frotman, who quit as the bureau’s top student loan official in protest of Trump administration policies. Frotman said in his resignation letter that CFPB leaders had “suppressed the publication” of the report.

The previously unseen analysis examined the fees associated with debit cards and other financial products provided by 14 companies through agreements with more than 500 colleges across the country.

Wells Fargo provided roughly one-quarter of those accounts but the bank collected more than half of all fees paid by students, according to the report data. The bank’s average annual fee per account was nearly $50, the highest of any provider.

Once again the Trump administration takes the side of powerful corporations over vulnerable citizens.

And in perhaps his most definitive statement yet, Trump said he would be “proud” to preside over a partial shutdown if that’s what it takes to get his campaign promise fulfilled.

Democrats urged the president against such a stance, even as they seized on the chance to blame Trump for any potential shutdown.

“We shouldn’t shut down the government over a dispute,” said Schumer, the Senate Democratic leader.

“The last time, Chuck, you shut it down,” shot back Trump, referring to Democrats’ brief shut down over immigration earlier this year. “If we don’t get what we want … I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck.”

I'm okay with shutting down the government for the last 2 weeks of full R control.
