Out of all the really bad takes, this has to be the worst narrative of all. People really need to get off this absolute garbage that it's a lack of desire. Anyone believing clearly has no idea what it takes to go from walk-on athlete to a starter at a major university, get on scholarship, make All-American, and then become an NFL 1st rd draft pick. The hard work, dedication, and resiliency is unreal. And you question this guys desire? Unreal.

good point GoSkins...still, one of my best friends was a good HS FB player...mean n tough with a bezerker style that only red heads have...i love him to death but he was a big puss anytime he was away from home...lol it was amazin' ...cause i never have gotten homesick...i use to pick on him soo much..."awww, poor widdle baby mithes his mommy"...so to some there is a very real "Home Sickness"....and it does appear to me that Doctson may have that...God I hope...cause he will grow outta that...

Maybe if Scot had punched the kid instead of the wall, it would have knocked some sense into him.

Could not agree more. People are going to believe what they want to believe regardless of the facts. No sense in trying to reason with them. I tried but I am done.

You fought a good fight. It's time to walk away and let the crazies make up their own facts.

I would like to know why Scott punched the wall, he's too old to be punching walls so something must have really hit a nerve.

I'm 43 and did it last night over a small dog fight. It happens.

not necessarily season ending...could be back for last 2 weeks and playoffs...sorta like Litch last year...I could b wrong

cool...where in Asia?

I am in China - Suzhou area right now (about 2 hours west of Shanghai in case you are not familiar). I go several times a year for work. I really like the people and have a good time here with my colleagues. But it can be frustrating as the Chinese government blocks many standard sites - Youtube, Facebook, Google to name a few. It can even be hard to get in here or Yahoo Mail. I can sometimes bypass by going through my VPN - but even then sometimes I get blocked.

So...what is the theory for you yahoos. That he all of a sudden doesn't like football and doesn't want to play, so he's just pretending he's got an owie?

Lunatics, all of you.

You're quite right riot..makes you want to bang your head...mental health will drive you mad... o_0

The variety of food now is amazing. I starting coming in 2005. At that time it was hard to find much of anything but Asian food - which I like but like anything it gets old. When you did find something different it was typically disappointing - much like it is when my friends from China come to the US. I never take them to a "Chinese" restaurant. It's just not what they are used to.

If you know Suzhou very well I stay in SIP - lot's of expats and other westerners along with many of my colleagues. So there a lot of great places to eat, especially near the lake. We went to a Japanese Steakhouse last night - individual dishes - all you can eat and drink (lot's of Tsingtao!) for about $30/ea.

I'm so jealous...would love to go to China...or Rome..Greece...Constantinople....maybe one day...

Cooley questioned his desire before he laid down with the injury that doesn't show up on any scans. I question his desire and his integrity.

Nah, I believe Cooley made those statements in August, Docston's been out since May.

The theory, months ago, was that Docston's injury was WAY WORSE then we were being told.

That has now been proven to be true.

We've now pretty much at the worst-case scenario here. Its possible that Docston recovers and makes an impact next season, but history says that's unlikely. These type of lingering injuries are generally not something WRs recover from.

e.g.

Kevin White's season last year started virtually identical to Docston's this year, nagging shin injury that wasn't supposed to be serious, ended up needing surgery and missed the entire season. He only lasted 4 games this season before fracturing his leg.

There's a little bit of hope though, Perriman was able to rehab his knee and has played in every game for Baltimore this season. (almost caught the game-winning catch against us)

“We saw another specialist – a couple of them now,” Gruden said. “I think with all the work that we’ve put in, we thought it was best to immobilize [Doctson] for a little bit of time and see if that can help. By the time he gets out of the boots, or boot, he’ll need time to see if he’s ready. Hopefully, we’ll get him back for the last, maybe, two games of the year.”

Who knows with Doctson. I don't believe history is kind to players who suffer Achilles injuries. Steve Smith though is on pace for 1,000 yards after suffering his injury last year. But yea I didn't care what the media said about Doctson, Scot's reaction to the news back during training camp was enough for me and today just proves it. Who knows if this kid will be what he was in college..

What FACTS?  Where is your proof that he has no desire?  The only thing you conspiracy theorists have is what that "sour grape" Cooley said.  You know, I'm starting to hate that guy. Go back to Utah and piss and moan about the Sister Wives.  I'm might ditch my 47 jersey if this keeps up.

Not sure why it is so hard for people to understand that **** happens! He has soreness in a part of his body that is critical to him doing his job! If you can't plant your foot or run full speed you can't be a WR! He has tried to play through as some would suggest. He can't. And he risks hurting it more and making it permanent.

Putting him on IR is the best thing for him and the team. He may never work out.

The injury may end his career before it starts. But the narrative has to be it's very unfortunate that it happened to such a hard working and gifted young man, not the ridiculous notion that he lacked desire.

This is a cute, warm and fuzzy take until you hear otherwise from guys who are legitimately plugged in with the team. Sorry that goes against what you hope for bud

  • 5 weeks later...

Does anyone have any update on how he's doing?  The last we all had heard was that he could potentially come back for the last two weeks, and now we are only 4 weeks away from that.

Gruden said in one of his press meetings when asked about Josh the other day that Docston was out of the boot, though I believe he said it was something he "noticed". :)

Being busy with head coaching the team, I don't believe he has been closely monitoring Docston. You never really know, but I have a feeling we won't see a whole lot of Josh this season, which means next year will be like his rookie year.
