Renegade7
Hard to argue being the best team in the division when you don't win the division. Chip is a great coach, but he still needs a QB and talent just like everyone else in the NFL.
SkinsFanRob
Jackson would not have helped the Eagles these last 3 games. A good CB might have, or even Foles collarbone healing up quicker. But not Jackson. Maybe he doesn't help you. But one could argue if he was still an Eagle then he wouldn't have had half of the redskins offense tonight and your playoff hopes would still be alive. TheItalianStallion
I can hear Westy's excuse now........"you left out the part of the thread title where I clearly state that 'Foles is clearly the best QB in the NFC East,' if he hadn't gotten hurt then we would've won the division." PF Chang
I think this offseason the Eagles need 500 more articles talking about Chip Kelly's changes to the food served to the players. Or the science of the music he plays to simulate game conditions. He's the ultimate innovator.
pjfootballer
The offseason will give Chipper more time to do more coaching clinic YouTube videos for Eagle fans to dissect.
pointyfootball
Jackson got last laugh in head to head matchup, although it's a bit like if the colts had spiked the ball in their lone TD. I mean his team imploded in spectacular fashion this year......after "he showed some leadership and stood up in the locker room...". As to Eagles, chip probably made too much progress last year, thereby heightening expectations. His decision to sign cooper and cut Jackson backfired in the long run. Safety play improved a little bit this year, but losing Ryan's and the awful play of CBs doomed the defense. Offensively the bleeding of turnovers are what truly kept this team from being a playoff team. But, rebuilding from what Reid left him was assumed to be further along due to last years performance, and in reality, it was a brilliant flash of offense that wasn't sustainable or able to cover up other glaring needs. Big question: is Foles the man or not? If not, they are in bigger trouble than most of us fans want to admit (as in unable to be deep playoff contenders), for years. grego
"The Eagles won just two games against teams with winning records. They beat the Colts very early in the season. And they beat the Cowboys on Thanksgiving in Dallas. They lost on the road to Arizona and Green Bay. They lost at home to Seattle and Dallas. They lost big games to good teams. " http://www.csnphilly.com/football-philadelphia-eagles/eagles-wasted-promising-season?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo been saying this for, oh, about a year now. Westbrook36
3 straight losses with 3 straight wins for the Cowboys. Not sure what happened that was different than the rest of the year other than things finally caught up to the Eagles. Kelly didn't have the team ready to play, in regards to penalties. However, there are some things that are perpetual problems that will need to be addressed. One is a difficult problem. The Eagles do not have an NFL starting caliber DB on the roster. Those guys don't fall off trees. Also, the turnovers have been killer. Turnovers singlehandedly cost the team games against Arizona and San Francisco. In the end, they weren't good enough and they are exactly where they deserve to be.

When you run twice as many plays on offense, it seems inevitable that you may have double the amount of turnovers. I think the fast paced offense catches up with the players in December. This was always a concern of mind with Chipper's transition from college to the pros. Your offensive line, such a strength for most of the year, looked tired and slow on Sat. I also think cutting Jackson loose was a huge ego play for the Chipper and it has backfired.

TheGoodBits
Bigger problem may be that the Eagles don't have an NFL quality starting QB on their roster. Make no mistake, Sanchez outperformed Foles this year. That ain't good.

Make no mistake, Sanchez outperformed Foles this year. That ain't good. There are a lot of teams without an NFL quality starting QB on their roster. And those teams, like Chppy's team, struggle to score points & commit turnovers.

Bonez3
Can this thread be locked now, at least MET. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the bashing. I have no idea if he'll be a good pro, but there's the obvious Oregon connection and scheme fit. I love to hate Chip, but he is a good coach and the offense is a QB away from being dominant, imo. I don't like the idea of the Eagles having their own Russell Wilson. It would take a lot to move up from the #15-ish pick. Could just stay there and draft best available secondary. Or do you go for it?

GoSkins0721
Looks like there's trouble in paradise: "PHILADELPHIA -- The Eagles released Tom Gamble, their vice president of player personnel, on Wednesday. The move adds weight to speculation that coach Chip Kelly and general manager Howie Roseman have not seen eye to eye over the last year. Kelly was close enough to Gamble that he made an impromptu trip with him to attend a Navy football game during the Eagles' bye week According to a source with knowledge of the Eagles' inner workings, there is a divide among the team's football people. Some are loyal to Kelly and others side with Roseman. The source said Gamble's ouster was a sign that Eagles owner Jeff Lurie was siding with Roseman." http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12104370/tom-gamble-released-philadelphia-eagles
