SkinsTerps26
im incredibly annoyed that i saw all of that coming. damn me and my intuition. this opens up so much. but dexter as an single dad is weird.
jaybrant
I thought it was a dream until I watched the "conversation" after the episode ended. it could still be a dream i suppose... the conversation with hall and lithgow are the actors point of view.. maybe they don't even know which way the producers are going to go next season other than that all i can say is wow... i really hope the producers didn't throw this ending in here for shock value and not plan ahead.. with that ending going into next season could really hurt the show.. i mean with rita out of the way, what happens to the kids? if dexter just up and leaves that would really change peoples opinions of dexter, but how can he take care of three kids by himself? it will be interesting which way they go with it.. to say the least
StillUnknown
she was getting way too annoying anyway, so i'm not entirely upset about her getting the ax
terpfan
I don't really like the ending honestly. But if it turns out to be a dream I'm gonna be pissed!
Drop
i thought it may be a dream....but for some reason, that doesn't seem to fit. I think it was real.
War Paint
I'm in shock. I didn't see that coming at all. I hope it was a dream because I liked her. I just can't believe we have to wait until next season to see wtf is going on. That's crazy ending the season like that.
Skins-Canes-Mounties
crazy ending. I could see it being a dream, but I guess we have to wait. I rank this my least favorite season of the 4. Season 1, Season 3, Season 2, Season 4 for me.

Heisenberg
No way it was a dream - the writing team is too good on this show to go that route because it's been done too many times before. It's kind of interesting because before that point the episode kind of had the feeling of a series finale.
Elessar78
Man. I can't remember being sadder about a character being killed off before. Rita was so innocent. Still makes for a good story though, I'm glad it wasn't a typical season finale.

renaissance
I'm sad about Rita dying, but I'm even more pissed at Dexter bc it's his fault she was killed. The whole show he was realizing how important he was to his family and then look what he did to them.
Die Hard
Wow... didn't see that coming. That was incredibly disturbing... and had me within an inch of vomiting. Sure, she was getting annoying as a character... but appreciating what she went through during that experience.... that just makes me sick. I can see just justice in the story going that route -- and it explains Lithgow's words during his murder -- but damn, I'm at a loss for words. I feel really sad right now. Runs with Scissors
What was it she left at the house, and had to come back for? Dexter was comming the next day. There wasnt much they had left to do with the wife angle anyway, single Dexter is much better. It wouldn't surprise me if next season,Dexters baby is like 10-12 years old and the other 2 kids are grown and in college far away. Alot of shows do that. jaybrant
i was just thinkin how can dexter not be a suspect next season?? he found out his wife kissed the neighbor, which the neighbor and masuka know about that's motive right there he assaulted the neighbor assaulted quinn assaulted the guy that got his mirror ripped off, and got arrested for it so that shows a history of violence why would anyone believe that the trinity killer went away from his "pattern" and just happen to kill dexters wife?.. He already kidnapped a boy meaning the cycle was starting all over again. I didn't keep track of days, but it very well could have been right on track for when the next bathtub victim was due. Not to mention the most obvious question..... what is Dexter's alibi? How does Arthur Mitchell's family (wife/kids) not eventually tell the police about Dexter (Kyle Butler)..... who spent so much time with him and the family during the last few weeks? Drop
If you haven't seen the episode....DO NOT READ MY POST. the one thing that didn't make sense to me was when the SWAT team was escorting Arthur's family out of the house. I mean Dexter was standing right there. Why wouldn't they say, "that's Kyle Butler, he was in the house too. He was standing inside with us when you guys broke through the door". It seemed to me like he should have been trying to stay out of their sight. It only seems like a matter of time before they open their mouths about Kyle Butler. And now if Deb is to begin tracing back to who Dexter really is, does it start with the fact that Rita was Trinity's final victim, and the personal involvement? And WAS Rita truely his final victim? We don't exactly know how safe the other two children are at this point. Arthur doing something to them probably doesn't fit his pattern, but maybe he abandoned his pattern after Dexter's medling? For all we know, next season could start with the two of them going missing.....be it by Trinity's hand or otherwise. Plus, Trinity is dead....but the police are under the impression that he most likely fled the country. How in the hell does all that come to light? Not to mention, Dexter said that the money he took from Arthur, would find it's way to Arthur's family....so that still has to happen in some way. Something tells me that even in death, we still have more to learn about Trinity. And ya know, the more i think about it, the whole episode was pointing to some sort of disintigration of Dexter's family. His father's ghost continually said that if he was going to continue killing, that he would have to remove himself from his family. Well...so far there's one down in Rita. That leaves Aster, Cody, Harrison, and Deb. So my logical next question is....do they all begin getting killed off, with Deb possibly piecing it all together at the end....or does Dexter maintain SOME type of family, and end his killing? This show just gets better and better.
scruffylookin
Next season, Rita will probably be a ghost Dexter communicates with a lot. He is not communicating with "ghosts". He's talking to himself in the personification of his father. To try and do that with Rita would be stupid.
